This Dallas offense is tailor made to beat the Pack. They can possess the ball, keeping it away from Arod, they have speed and size at WR and a Hall of Fame TE to tickle our soft middle. We have to get them out of their comfort zone by forcing them into a shootout.

Howard "Smiley" Johnson Only Packer WWII casualty of war. From Packers.com: The roll call needs to start with Howard "Smiley" Johnson, the Packers' only war casualty. Recipient of two Silver Stars, Johnson was killed in action at Iwo Jima. He played guard for the Packers in 1940 and '41, and was a second lieutenant with the 23rd Marines when he died at age 28. Johnson grew up in an orphanage near Clarksville, Tenn., and played college football at the University of Georgia. With the Packers,...

Re: Round 1 Pick 26 (From Miami) QB Jordan Love Utah State

CUPackFan ·
The pick is not as crazy as it seems. Rodgers is not the QB he used to be and his contract is effectively up in three years, when Rodgers turns 40. Brady and Brees have made it work at age 40 but Rodgers relies more on his athleticism than both, so I think Rodgers sees more of a decline in the next three years. And when it happens, it's a cliff. Look at Favre. And even though Manning won that Super Bowl, his play was so bad that last year that it was actually a minor controversy to bench...

Fair point on the Big Ben-Brown dynamic. The main point is that I think the reward greatly outweighs the risk, and the worst case scenario is that he does become a cancer and you cut him. I wouldn't sign him as a free agent for a 90 million in guaranteed money (a Khalil Mack type contract) because then you are stuck and can't cut him. But to get a Hall of Fame receiver near his prime for a third round pick and a 12 million dollar cap hit if it doesn't work out is worth it.

I’m not going to get too rough on Jaire not grabbing that pick. In perfect weather-maybe. With the snow coming down, slippery ball, cold hands. Easier to critique from the comfort of our easy chairs. + 8-2, pretty healthy. Both Jones and Williams look great. Jimmy Graham turned back the clock. - Rodgers. Not so much his passing. His decision making was awful. Throwing 30+ yards downfield on third down is a low probability completion. Great when it happens to convert, but all those times it...

The Pro Bowl is a waste of time. Just another chance for a player to sustain an injury. Nothing is gained by going to the Pro Bowl, except more dollars flowing into the NFL coffers. In the MLB All Star game, the winner, at least gets home field advantage in the World Series. What does the winner of the Pro Bowl get? A two headed coin for the first coin toss of the upcoming regular season? A tour of the vikings hall of fame with an emphasis on their could've been-should've been trophies in...

I think the Hall of Fame is getting too watered down. Too many "good" players that just stuck around for a long time and racked up stats, or good players who played on great teams. My criteria: 1) You were top 3 at your position for at least 3 years 2) You were top 10 at your position for the rest of the prime of your career Unsure where that leaves Butler. But the third criteria that I will throw out is how the player changed the game. Butler changed how safeties play. Not that he invented...

Brandt has commented in the past that he might write a book one day about his time in GB, and specifically the Favre stories, some of what he shares in this article. This part stood out to me. It wasn't Thompson the GM, but his coach, who told him they moved on. After reading the bit about Irv's death, and specifically Brandt's perspective of that day and the funeral, which I hadn't read before, I believe Brett would have handled his end with GB differently if his dad/coach were alive in 2008.
