Yeah, why couldn't it be the Packers found out he was going to sign with Indy after they "told him to come in"? It smacks of his agent of working both sides of the fence.

You mean like anonymous sources claiming the Packers have interest in some big-name free agent or another to try to drive up the price?

No joke Dr Anderson is probably the best foot and ankle surgeon there is. I’ve attended many of his talks and while on one hand it would be cool to have everyone want to seek you out for you advice/skills. On the other hand that’s a 💩 ton of pressure to be under. The player, his agent, coaches and owners all watching everything you do/say. Actually he has a line that teenage athletes parents are even worst as their kid is the next Aaron or Mack or Serena etc.

Angular linebacker with decent straight-line twitch who takes too long to diagnose and flow, making him a viable block for climbing linemen. He plays upright and a little stiff in his scrapes and doesn't find his run fits as efficiently as he needs to. He can gather and wrap as a tackler, but will struggle to finish elusive backs in the open field and he's unimpressive as a passing-down participant. Martin's lack of early play recognition and elusive flow to ball might push him outside as a...

This sums up how putrid the current Packer WRs are: "The Green Bay Packers ended the 2019 season with two homegrown wide receivers seeing action in a 37-20 loss to San Francisco in the NFC championship game – and Marquez Valdes-Scantling played just one snap. Undrafted free agent Allen Lazard was the team’s second-leading pass catcher at the position with 35 receptions and he didn’t make the team out of training camp and didn’t play until Week 5. With the departure of Geronimo Allison in...

Andrew Brandt @AndrewBrandt · 15h And my favorite undrafted free agent story ever: Negotiated with player directly, no agent. Told him we had a deal, bonus would be $1,000. He said (no joke): "Mr. Brandt, I only have $200 now but I promise I will bring the rest when I get there." I said "No, no. We pay you."

Well, there goes the QB room. From packers.com: “The Green Bay Packers have released QB Manny Wilkins . General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Monday. Wilkins originally signed with the Packers as a rookie free agent out of Arizona State on May 3, 2019, and spent the entire 2019 season on Green Bay's practice squad.“ No surprise. Manny seems like a good guy, hope he catches on somewhere.

We were in Boston last November for a wedding and on that Sunday the Patriots had a bye. Walking around the Back Bay area in a trendy fashion district brownstone neighborhood on Newberry Street there was a line of about 100 people waiting to get into a store. I asked a guy why. He said "Julian Edelman." Walked past a window and there he was, greeting fans inside, posing for pictures. https://www.newburystboston.co...shop-newbury-street/ Wish he was on our team. Re: 2019 Free Agency Moves/Trades/Releases
Fair point on the Big Ben-Brown dynamic. The main point is that I think the reward greatly outweighs the risk, and the worst case scenario is that he does become a cancer and you cut him. I wouldn't sign him as a free agent for a 90 million in guaranteed money (a Khalil Mack type contract) because then you are stuck and can't cut him. But to get a Hall of Fame receiver near his prime for a third round pick and a 12 million dollar cap hit if it doesn't work out is worth it.

Re: Pelicans at Bucks
I totally did. I swear to you... I 100% believe the Bucks sitting Giannis tonight was a middle finger to ESPN who has been flat making shit up about how Giannis will leave. So ESPN got their jab in about Brogdon, lead with a baseball free agent story and a ton on the Lakers having “the best record in the NBA”. It’s all very subtle, but tonight was a pissing context on live TV...

Re: Way early look at draft
I think they could go after Schobert as their "big"(ish) free agent if they were looking at something like this. If the talent is markedly better, take the guy early, regardless of position.

Re: Jared Cook/Taysom Hill
My take, Cook was 3 strikes and your out. 1) Solid receiver but not a blocker. 2) He got hurt and missed a few games. 3) His agent was playing hardball in contract renewal and pissed off TT or someone in front office. That said I was pissed when we let him walk and he has yet to be truly replaced.

Starting RT Wagner and starting DT A. Robinson did not play against Denver on Sunday and may well be out again this Sunday. All but the bolded players are starters. Re: Bucks versus Barnies
No one better than Middleton. That's the problem with the NBA right now. The new age of stars having the ability to play where and with whom they want is great for the players and it's what we all want when we are looking for work. We all want that freedom. The problem is that the NBA (or other sports leagues) can't function like that without creating a situation where about 8-10 teams have the potential to win consistently (Nets, Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Heat, Rockets, Celtics, Mavs,...

Re: End of Season +/-
I have to keep this season in perspective and look at this as Year 1 of a multi-year process of building a true championship team. It was entertaining for sure, but still still kind of hollow at the end. If there was one positive that came out of the 2 SF blow-outs, it's that Gutekunst and Murphy have a true measuring stick of where the talent level is and how far it still needs to go. Not having multiple top 10 draft picks is the price you pay for consistently being good but not great. But...

Holmgren and Wolf became smart enough to beat the Niners and Cowboys for 2 reasons. They traded for Brett Favre and signed Reggie White. Having LeRoy Butler and great depth also contributed, but Favre and White were the difference. We all loved Shurmur and he was a good Xs and Os guy, but he was available to come to Green Bay because the previous two years his defenses in Phoenix were 25th and 20th ranked. He had the most dominant front 4 in Packers history anchored by the best defensive...

of course I'm right, I took it straight from Wolf 1998, DE Vonnie Holliday (19th overall selection): Wolf traded up 10 spots, hoping to land safety Shaun Williams, but was delighted to find Holliday still on the board. Holliday has been a solid starter the last five years, but the unrestricted free agent recently signed with Kansas City. "Really and truly, we made the deal to get Shaun Williams," Wolf said. "We figured Holliday would be gone. But fortunately, Vonnie was there. And that pick...

Re: Amazing Article on Ted Thompson's Success
Russ does a awesome job with his spreadsheet- and properly valuing players is such a huge part of the Packers' success. Too many front offices end up in an adversarial situation with their players and agents and that leads to unhappiness and distrust Having Brandt on board for a decade surely helped - he was a former agent and a business school savant. They didn't lowball anybody and rarely had hard feelings Russ has continued in that vein, standing on the shoulders of the guys who came...

Julius Peppers looks like maybe 2014 was his final hurrah. He was a godsend in 2014, this year he looks very very ordinary. Aaron Rodgers stat line of 300+ yards 2TDs and 0 ints shows...

That wasn't the starting lineup that Starks had. He had Clifton and Bulaga at Tackle with Wells at Center. Makes a big difference. As I said, TT has stated that they explore every option. I'm sure they spoke with SF and probably Davis' agent to gauge interest. "Anything serious" is a relative phrase, Davis was had for a 6th and 7th, I'm not sure what you would consider a "serious" offer. He covets mid-round picks so I am positive he wasn't going to offer more than a 6th, if that much. In the...

Re: Trade Season
I can't blame Luc. Once the Tribe told him he wouldn't be a catcher next year, that would drastically hurt his value. He used what little leverage he had to make sure he got the best deal for himself, today and in two years when he is a free agent. Side note- Crazy the deals happening for relievers. I hope this whole Tribe mess didn't keep Stearns from moving guys like Smith or Jeffress.

Re: Trade Season
I don't think this is anything but Luc asking to his the club option waived so he can be a FA at the end of the year. I think the Tribe telling he wouldn't start is a manufactured story. Granted, I understand that both sides will be positioning, but here's from a Cleveland writer. This seems a helluva lot more plausible than telling him he wouldn't start next year.

Re: Trade Season
Disappointing to be sure, but that's why players have no trade clauses. I'm not sure Lucroy's position will change (wanting to opt out to be a free agent in near future) so his trade value probably just dropped like a rock. The Brewers don't "have" to trade Luc either. He's still affordable and a decent player.
