I have a friend. He's a bearsfan through and through.
I rarely talk football with him anymore because TBSS, but I did want to get him on record with regards to Fields vs a top draft QB. What would he choose ?

Conversation took place in early February.
He says:

"I'm all in on Fields because rookie QBs take 3 yrs to develop. Who has time for that shit ?

I started laughing my ass off ( and that's a lot of laughing)

He finally remembers who he's talking to and just shakes his head, says
Fuck you ! and walks away.

I have a friend who moved to my town from Chicago his junior year in HS in 1983.  He's an intelligent guy, always was (we see live music together quite a bit and he's my go to for people's names cuz I'm shitty that way he's an excellent teacher.  being from Chicago - big Bears fan!  still lives in Wisconsin and loves it.

I wish I could remember which QB transaction it was that finally broke him, it was about 10-15 years ago, but he was done.  couldn't stand that the org was happy as long as asses were in seats.  quit 'em.  roots for the GBP now (altho I'm quite sure if the Bears ever become relevant again it'll spark him back up)

They are going to ruin another QB. LOLOLOLOL!

The pressure on that young man will be IMMENSE.
Kinda surprised they didn't pick up a mentor-vet yet...even if they're planning to start Williams from Day 1.

Will it really, though?

If (when) he doesn't materialize, he'll just join the long list of Bear QBs who haven't ever been as good as....wait for it....Sid Luckman.

Chicago Bears documentary : In Search of the Next Sid Luckman.

The trailer to the brand new Vikings documentary will play beforehand: “The Search For Fran Tarkenton Reincarnated, A Vikings Story”

It was Joe Kapp who guided the Vikings to their only NFL championship in 1969.
Until they chocked to the Chiefs 7-23 in the AFL-NFL World Championship Game.
First of four times they soiled the bed.

Welcome back my friends to the shit-show that never ends.

Goalline prefers Leonard Nimoy, I prefer the Vikings Shit Show.

Tauscher recently said rookie QBs should not start until after Thanksgiving. That's why CHI should've kept Fields for '24. They may have even gotten more than the conditional 6th next year.

Something 10 said last year really resonated with me. It was the road game in Chicago and he mentioned how it was less of a big deal just because he already made the trip twice and was familiar with the visiting locker room and the stadium environment. There were less 1st game jitters when he was #1 for the 1st time under center in CHI.

It's just one less thing on the plate for the most important person in the building. Playing QB is hard enough and the reps encompass more than just leading the offense. Also remember one of the old coaches saying no prospect is really prepared to lead a group of men until they're 25. It's old fashioned thinking by today's standards, but there's a lot of wisdom in it.

But FGs and PATs matter.

Exactly. What were most fans and talking heads complaining about Crosby after the 2022 season, depth of kick offs and what his salary would be in a cap strapped year once Rodgers was traded.  Nobody complained about FG and PAT misses.

If you want to cherry pick, sure. But do 5 kicks each from 25 to 50 yards and I bet Mason makes more.

He missed kicks for the Giants.

Carlson is younger... Stronger leg.... Now he just needs to improve his accuracy especially on extra points

I hope Carlson turns it around too and becomes as good as or even better kicker than Mason.  But with a full training camp last season I think Mason makes some kicks Carlson missed and getting a couple more victories.  But due to salary cap issues it wasn't feasible to keep him.  Onward and upward!!

Mason was unemployed for most of 2024; apparently 30 teams want to talk with you about making a bet.

Crosby hit 79.5 % of FGs in year 1
Carlson hit 81.8 % of FGs in year 1

Crosby didn't beat the 81% mark until his 5th year in the league and he only surpassed 81.8 % on FGs in 7 out of 17 seasons.

Crosby hit 71.4 % of his FGs in 2023 ( small sample)

Kindly let us know how much you'd like to bet $$$
