He said the fault in drop off with Graham was largely due to Darrell Bevell not realizing where to utilize him best. He said, no Graham hasn't lost significant speed, he will play hurt, and the Seahags did him no favors with how they used him.
They only saw him as largely a RZ threat when in reality he could be so much more then that. Let's hope Joe Philbin reviews ALOT of NO's tape on him. Because the Saint's knew how to use that 6'7 frame to perfection.
Finley was the closest TE to show what can be done in MM's offense. I don't think MM realized how big a threat Finley was until after he blew up in that playoff game v. ARZ. The next season he planned on "building the offense around" him. That was with Philbin. Then JF went down and the grand plan never game to fruition but in glimpses before the neck injury. If only we still had Philbin and a TE comparable to Finley.....
Anyone looking for another WR either on the roster or available in FA or draft to replace Nelson is chasing ghosts. The plan is clearly to replace that production with Graham.
From the link: As for Richardson, he leaves having made one sack and 27 tackles in 15 games for Seattle, though the raw stats donβt show the impact he had on the teamβs run defense in 2017, which grew stouter throughout the season after a rough start, with the Seahawks ultimately allowing 4.0 yards per carry.
#Packers have signed #Bears CB Kyle Fuller to an offer sheet. Chicago placed transition tag ($12.9067 million on Fuller). So things will get interesting in the NFC North as the rivals compete for the former first-round draft pick.

Guarantee Bears will match that if itβs true
Fuller has dealt with injuries in the past, but he came on strong last season, finishing as the league's 36th-ranked cornerback, per Pro Football Focus, while shining in one-on-one matchups down the stretch.
With Prince Amukamara hitting the open market, Chicago remains a candidate to add additional help at corner both in free agency and the draft. Getting their 2014 first-rounder back goes a long way to shoring up this developing secondary.
Probably depends on how the Packers structured it. At the very least, we're making the Bears pay. Inflicting pain on a division rival is a good thing.
I really like the way Gutey works.
Bears have 5 days to match. Now we wait.
Question is, do we have to stay in a holding pattern for these five days, while other free agents strike deals?
From Wikipedia: On April 29, 2017, Bears general manager Ryan Pace announced that the team would not pick up the fifth-year option on Fuller's rookie contract, meaning he is slated to become a free agent in the 2018 offseason.[16] He had a career year in 2017, starting all 16 games recording 69 tackles, two interceptions, and finishing tied for second in the league with 22 passes defensed.
On March 6, 2018, the Bears placed the transition tag on Fuller worth $12.971 million.
He reacted better than HaHa did once he heard we WOULD pick up his fifth year.
If the Packers pull this off, you'd have to think Bulaga is as good as gone. They have to free up cap space somewhere.
From what I understand, this is the second attempt by a team to secure Kyle Fuller with an offer sheet. One wasnβt accepted. The #Packersβ was. The #Bears have 5 days to match.

Worst case is the Packers push the price up for Chicago. Fair to say Gutey is just a tad more aggressive than TT.
Packers also had interest:
The #Panthers announced that CB Bashaud Breeland failed his physical. He wonβt be signing with Carolinaβ¦ which had offered him a 3 year, $24M deal.

This Free Agency thing is so foreign, yet so intriguing. Will be popcorn watch to see if it pays off. Somewhere Ted Thompson is rolling in his Bud Light.
Fullerβs tag is $12.9M, so Packersβ offer will almost certainly be worth more than that per year. Bears werenβt sold enough on Fuller to give him a lucrative long-term deal. Now theyβll have to, or else allow him to go to their bitter rivals and get nothing in return.

Another interesting consideration: in addition to driving up the Bears' cost with the amount of the offer, Gutey could have structured it in a way to make life difficult with the length of the contract (e.g., ensure that Bears' both starting CB's contracts expire the same year).

That's what's being speculated. In addition to fu**ing with the Bears, Gutey reportedly has structured this contract in such a way it's a longer contract with more guaranteed money for Fuller.
He's just 26 as well. I could see Gute offering a 4 year deal.
PS: No way would I have seen Teddy doing this. Things are a changing at 1265.

A tad more? The moment he rolled out of bed the day the negotiating period started made him a tad more. The moment he picked up a phone on that day made him slightly aggressive in comparison. The moment he agreed to terms with any UFA is when the pure aggression kicked in
Fuller was targeted an NFL high 119 times last season. He allowed 2 TD's (one was to Davante Adams). Fuller also allowed a QB rating of about 60 in 2017.
We're only a few weeks into Gutey's first off-season with the Packers, and a few days into his first free agency period, and I already love the way he works. When he committed to improving the roster and said that he'll explore all avenues to do so, he meant it.
In the past few weeks he's:
And he made the tough decision to move on from Nelson, one of the franchise's all-time great players. That's tough to do. But it was in the best interest of the team, so he pulled the trigger. He also had a press conference to own the move and address it--something Thompson never did.
Time and wins will determine whether Gutey is ultimately considered a great GM, but I like the start to the Gutey Era. The future is bright.
did the league outlaw poison pills. Like He gets an extra 2 million dollars for every game he plays in chicago after the first one.
Yes, my understanding is no poison pills allowed.

The past wasnt? Ted didnβt leave anyone embarrassed for loyalty.
How many draft picks would we have to give up to sign Fuller? I was young when we traded the farm for John Hadl and old by the time we got the farm back.

None. Transition tag doesn't come with any form of compensation. Had it been a franchise tag, GBP would give up two first rounders.
The so called boy genius Ryan Pace made his first major misstep. Teams rarely use transition tags. The Packers just called their bluff. The Bears will either end up overpaying for Fuller to keep him or they will lose him to GB with no compensation.
Give me some more Gute
I am trying to figure this out from the packers perspective. Fuller was going to make $13m this year guaranteed under the tag. I can't imagine the Packers offering him much more per year? If not, then Fuller would only sign a sheet with the Packers if a significant portion of the remaining 4 years amount is guaranteed. It will be interesting to see how much, but in any event, the Bears will surely match and really all this did was make them commit to someone they had a question mark about. What is in it for the Packers?

Which means the Packers overpaid.
Gotta think Rodgers deal is done and they felt confident they had the space to risk this move. Iβm guessing Rodgers deal relieved some current cap space.

Do the packers have enough money left to sign Jarius βThe Human 3rd Down Conversionβ Wright?
Just released by the Vikings.

If anything the Packers lowered his cap number for 2018...not understanding this move in the least. If the Bears didnβt want him back they just simply wouldnβt have tagged him and gotten quite possibly as much as a 3rd rounder for him in compensatory picks, alls Gutenkunst did was negotiate a contract for the Bears
