If nothing else both moves send a message.  You're all in or you're OUT.

I LOVE THAT!

Is that the reason we signed a new punter too? Gee wiz, it was only ONE bad punt!

Schefter calling it a healthy scratch but he was listed as questionable on the injury report with a groin issue.

Oh. Coaches can do this? Did someone tell this to McStubborn?

I wonder if he was a little too vocal in his opinions following the Dix trade?

You could be right. I think they were pals; I think Whitehead drove HHCD to the airport.

* Thanks for the correction GD, that was Brice.

Have to think there was more done/said by Whitehead that hasn't been made public. I thought the ejection was harsh just based on what was shown in the broadcast.

Mike Clemens was on the Fan and said going back to a game against the Chiefs, Whitehead had made some boneheaded plays and penalties and this was yet another example.

But considering that they don't have HHCD, Brice and Josh Jones can't follow assignments, and now Whitehead is cut? This still wasn't some whimp decision by Gute.

Pretty hard to believe he isn't sending a clear message that rogue/dumb ass behavior no longer go around 1265...

I believe that was Kentrell Brice.

I'm curious, with the current structure, how those decisions are made.  Does Gute tell MM that he wants to cut Whitehead and MM says OK?  Or does MM tell Gute to cut him and Gute says OK?

I don't think MM is signing off on any of these. I think these are Gute's decisions from start to finish. MM hangs on to everyone much longer then he should (see Sanders, Slocum, Clements, Zook, etc). IMO, if it was up to MM, Randall, Monty, Whitehead, etc would all still be around.

This has the fingerprints of a new GM who's cutting the fat and sending a clear message about accountability.

No way the staff is not in on these moves. Gute knows that if they are not, it will significantly limit who he could get as candidates if he replaces MM. Most coaches are not going to want to take a job in which they have no input on personnel moves.
