Always has been a long-term project, which makes the extreme overreaction by AR to his drafting all the more puzzling.

Let's not blow up another thread but it's not about Love himself.  The question is why the FO seems so ready to move onto Love after 2021 when they keep making statements like "he's got a long way to go".

That's a lot of uncertainty for Love to have to deal with.  The kid is basically a rookie this year because of COVID.

What?  Again?

LaFleur added: “We’re excited about some of the progress we’ve seen with him, but certainly there’s a long way to go there.”

You should hear what Anthony Lynn said about Herbert last year. Coaches might actually want to protect young QBs from the pressure of unrealistic expectations. Maybe?ðŸĪ·

3rd option, Blake Bortles leads the Packers to a Super Bowl.

Don't laugh...if things go sideways and 12 is traded, or more likely, holds out, Bortles is the likely starter. They are not going to throw nub out there to start the season and have his confidence potentially get shattered.

For all intents and purposes, he's a rookie. Don't care how great he looks in practice...there is a glacial difference between that and live bullets when defenses are trying to confuse and rattle you every snap.

I honestly think that's a more feasible option than the other two.  If Hackett could drag Bortles to the AFCC who knows what could happen.  Of course that would only be possible if Gunt used the cap space from Rodgers to load up on defense and actually make it a top ten defense.

That and Amari Rodgers is a beast out of the gate.  MVS isn't going to look so great with Bortles hucking the rock.

Never mind.

If the coaches come out and say “Love looks awesome! He’s totally upped his game!” how do you think the Rodgers “negotiations” are going to go? If he looked that good and they say it, Rodgers says, “Great, trade me” you got your guy. Other teams say, “Well, the price just dropped.”

Plus, if they say Love looks great and trade Rodgers, Rodgers now has that chip to play even better and make the FO look even worse. And if they say it and Love doesn’t get at least to the playoffs, then the FO and coaches look like idots.

Love right now could look like Mahomes 2.0 and they would say Love has a long, long way to go.

Why would the price drop?  Other teams aren't trading for Nub's potential.  Does that some how diminish the skills of a HOF MVP QB?  If anything it means the Packers can sit back and not worry about it and let the best offer come to them.

Sorry, but this is just funny.  Rodgers already is the MVP.  Rodgers already has a massive chip on his shoulder.  The FO already looks like idiots.  Who wouldn't want a HOF QB to be playing at MVP levels to help get you to a Super Bowl?  Rhetorical.

Sans all the current Rodgers bullshit, Gunt hitched his wagon to Nub.  Pretty much every GM does the same at some point.

Love right now could look like Mahomes 2.0 and they would say Love has a long, long way to go.

Commenting on the "long way to go" statements has more to do with posters projecting onto Nub that he isn't anything but a project QB.  He's in a shitty spot considering the current circus.  Even if Bortles is starting ahead of him when Rodgers is gone there is going to be as much heat on the kid.

"Things coaches say" and "why don't they say what they mean" sure get a lot of interchangeable favorability around here lately.

Fact, Jordan Nub is a project QB with a long way to go.  That's not an indictment of Nub at all.  It's an indictment of all the bullshit going around him and how poorly it's been handled let alone the reasoning for where/how he was drafted.  I can't imagine any of it his helping his development.

Would I put it past this FO to be concerned how they look vs. doing what's right for the team on the field?  No.  Does that help to create a solid environment to actually develop the kid?  No.  Is the "long way to go" statement a no fucking brainer?  Yes.  Does that affect the immediate future?  Yes.

Unfortunately for Nub, trading off a Super Bowl window for "a long way to go" is a tough sell.

Still so frustrating that all Gute had to do was not pick Love and we were guaranteed a Super Bowl. Did any of the ball washers actual share this vital information with him? So angry!

Finishing building a defense around a 1st ballot HOFer MVP QB

or

Moving up to draft a project QB that has as much chance as amounting to squat as he does a viable QB while sitting on the bench.  Adding an oft hurt 5th rounder as the only addition to the defense.

I already know you're complete delusional choice but you let me know which one gets you closer to a Super Bowl.

If Dumb Gunt can't figure that out then maybe he needs to step down as GM.

Who said it had to be a first round pick??? Weren’t you just whining that Gute picked a QB in round one instead of “completing” our defense?

Man, no one ever launched an attack on another man’s credibility based on ZERO information like you have against Gute, in the history of humanity. You have offered ZIPPO in the way if solutions and everything when is comes to wailing and gnashing of teeth.

No, that was in response to your incorrect statement that I was complaining about not picking defense in the first round.

Credibility?  It's pretty fucking simple, did he draft or sign any legit defensive players other than Martin?

No, that's a fact.  He did not do those things.  We know this because we can look at the roster, go over the draft picks.

"Offer solutions".  That's a hoot.  Pretty sure that's the GMs job and my very basic, fact based "solutions" of, say, adding more than one injury prone defensive player is pretty straight forward.  I mean there was absolutely nothing in FA or the 1st 4 rounds of the draft?  Nothing?

Would you like me to find the pick, swing the deals with other teams and write up the contracts too?

Silly PaQkers fans.

Why would Gute draft any defensive players when every talking head and many fans all said we need to draft weapons for NOG.  So that is what he did. Sure Love was not a weapon in the 1st but Dillon in the 2nd and Deguara in the 3rd would both had been weapons if they had stayed healthy.   Gute did what almost everybody wanted abd it still wasn't right.   Sheesh!!!

You guys can fantasize all you like.  Any rookie (technically) QB's development is going to be heavily scrutinized in this situation.  It isn't Nub's fault but let's not pretend it's something it isn't.  If winning a Super Bowl is hard then it's ten times harder winning it with a rookie QB regardless of potential.

Yes, the Packers Super Bowl window is open with Rodgers running the team.  That isn't true with Nub, at least not now.  That's a pretty damn good reason to scrutinize the whole of the situation and the guys that run the organization.  This is the bet/bed they made.

It's a fact.
