Made me look up who the Packers took that year. Ha Ha.
Two picks later was Dee Ford.
But Johnny Manziel was in between.

Bortles is another perfect example of a guy with all the skills who was played too soon and ruined. The rub is if Love is traded for a decent pick, that pick or around it should probably go back into the position if thereβs a guy they like. They should be swinging at a potential starter either this year or next even if they think Rodgers plays four.
I watched 2 different draft shows including ESPN's First take and the topic of Jordan Love came up in light of Rodgers being extended. The question was if Jordan Love was going to be in this 2022 draft, where would he land?
The consensus was he'd be a mid-late 1st round pick. Like Rodgers, he was also drafted at a young age. In fact, I believe it's Pickett that Jordan Love is actually younger than him. And the other top QB in the draft , Love is only 2 months older than him.
keep him. it was a developmental pick. give him another year. they need a backup.
No back up is worth a 2nd or 3rd. Now that he isn't the heir to be trade him for as much value as possible.
@bvan posted:Agree but I want to see some Benkert.
He can be the back up QB, punter, and holder. That should clear up enough cap space to resign some guys
Maybe we can fleece the Seahags again and send Love to Seattle for a second and a third.

There you go. And he's always a threat to throw...an interception. Not sure about the holder. According to No Mo, it takes a lot of skill.
You want to solve special teams issues? Make the kickers do the conversion straight out from where the TD is scored like in rugby. No snaps, no holders. They put the ball on a tee and kick it at whatever angle they have to. Defense has to stand at the goal line and can rush to block it once the kicker starts his move.
Do the same thing for field goal attempts.
For kickoffs, if a team settles for a field goal THEY kick off. If they score a TD, then they receive the kickoff. Would make teams go for it a lot more, an incentive to get TDs.
Winner's outs for TDs? WTF? Anyway not sure what that has to do with J-Lo.
Anyway if you can get a 2nd for him sure by all means do it. I personally think a 3rd is more realistic based on my 0 years of working in the front office and my in-depth discussions about his value with absolutely nobody.

Love is also currently the same as as Joe Burrow when Burrow was drafted. It was a big reason at the time people said Love could afford to sit for a couple years since he was so young when he was drafted.
Age?
Nub is 23, will be 24 in Nov.
Looks like Fidel
Careful, you will trigger Goalline
BTW, he looks more like Paul Mooney to me.
He looks Persian to me. Persian is the new black (I'm told).
First Indian, now Persian? Just a matter of time before you tell us we all look like Osama.π
Hold on to him for another year. They can show him off again to see if his value goes up. If it does, they might find a better offer; if not, nothing lost and you've got a backup.
This year is better because the qb class is weak in the draft
12's new contract tells me the Jordan Love Era won't be happening in Green Bay. Only way they don't trade him is if they can't get any respectable offer for him.
Love is clearly a better QB prospect than any draft eligible guys this year and he has two years left on his rookie deal. If there is a year to trade him, it's now.
Well.
Assuming we get squat for offers, why not leave him as (potentially) a capable back-up?

They need a backup that gives them a chance to win games if Rodgers gets dinged up. Usually, 39 year olds tend to get dinged up more. Unless they get overwhelmed with a ridiculous offer (1st round pick or more), it's not worth it to move him unless you think Benkert gives you a better chance to win if Rodgers is out.
I would say he does in the preseason.
He is still cheaper than a FA. Next year his salary goes up. It could be restructured then. A year of Campen as his coach might help him be serviceable.
If you can get a 2nd or high 3rd, trade him. We saw what he did as a backup in KC last year and it wasn't good enough. Any value he has for the Packers is as a developmental prospect for 2024 which IMO, is not worth a 2nd round pick (or even a high 3rd).
Think of it this way - if Love was not on the roster, would you be ok with the Packers drafting a QB in the 2nd round? I don't so if you can get a 2nd for him, do it. I'd even say early 3rd. Once you get to mid/late 3rd, maybe best to just keep him because a late 3rd/early 4th probably isn't worth it.
Eh, I don't think what we saw in the KC game from Love is the final product. Might be far from it.
It wasn't a good debut but I think he's still got a chance. That said, with the new deal for Rodgers I think if you can get a good draft pick for him in this draft you do it. A FA backup QB doesn't have to cost a lot. Blake Bortles is still out on the golf course waiting for a call from that number he has blocked.
Blake Bortles would call back and hit the wrong number.
You'd take a chance with Bortles if we are on the verge of a SB?
Who's going to be the backup that wins a Super Bowl for the Packers this year?
Despite everyone wanting him to break out vs a bad but fiesty DET team in WK17, I thought he looked better than he did vs. KC. MLF and co. did him no favors in either game. I don't think he's nearing a plateau either though I can't say I'm all that optimistic he'll be a franchise QB at any point.
I'd love to see him traded on draft day. Hopefully there is a run on QB's and somebody gets desperate and gives up a 2 for him.
The longer we go on, the less likely Love gets traded. You still got Baker Mayfield and Matt Ryan in limbo, and every GM wants to make their mark with a draft pick, not picking up someone else's. There hasn't been a peep at all about any interest in Love from anyone. I don't think he's going anywhere.
Scratch Ryan off that list. I wonder what ATL is going to replace him with. Mayfield? Draft?
Ryan is gone. Mayfield is a known commodity at this point, which isn't great. While Love hasn't shown much to date, there is still quite a bit of unknown with where his ceiling actually is. I would not be shocked if somebody jumped on a trade for him.
Finishing up with this piece for the @cheeseheadtv draft guide, and here are the five picks after Green Bay's selection of Jordan Love in 2020
β Ross Uglem (@RossUglem) March 26, 2022
Jordyn Brooks - stinks
Patrick Queen - worse than Brooks
Isaiah Wilson - out of the league
Noah Igbinoghene - yikes
Jeff Gladney - yikes
Just a reminder: player evaluation is difficult.
