A Tony Mandarich like draft pick in that 12 of the 14 guys drafted immediately after him have been to multiple Pro Bowls. Screen Shot 2022-03-10 at 12.58.31 PM

Bortles is another perfect example of a guy with all the skills who was played too soon and ruined. The rub is if Love is traded for a decent pick, that pick or around it should probably go back into the position if there’s a guy they like. They  should be swinging at a potential starter either this year or next even if they think Rodgers plays four.

I watched 2 different draft shows including ESPN's First take and the topic of Jordan Love came up in light of Rodgers being extended. The question was if Jordan Love was going to be in this 2022 draft, where would he land?

The consensus was he'd be a mid-late 1st round pick. Like Rodgers, he was also drafted at a young age. In fact, I believe it's Pickett that Jordan Love is actually younger than him. And the other top QB in the draft , Love is only 2 months older than him.

You want to solve special teams issues?  Make the kickers do the conversion straight out from where the TD is scored like in rugby.  No snaps, no holders.  They put the ball on a tee and kick it at whatever angle they have to.  Defense has to stand at the goal line and can rush to block it once the kicker starts his move.

Love is also currently the same as as Joe Burrow when Burrow was drafted. It was a big reason at the time people said Love could afford to sit for a couple years since he was so young when he was drafted.

Well.

Assuming we get squat for offers, why not leave him as (potentially) a  capable back-up?

They need a backup that gives them a chance to win games if Rodgers gets dinged up. Usually, 39 year olds tend to get dinged up more. Unless they get overwhelmed with a ridiculous offer (1st round pick or more), it's not worth it to move him unless you think Benkert gives you a better chance to win if Rodgers is out.

If you can get a 2nd or high 3rd, trade him.  We saw what he did as a backup in KC last year and it wasn't good enough.  Any value he has for the Packers is as a developmental prospect for 2024 which IMO, is not worth a 2nd round pick (or even a high 3rd).

Think of it this way - if Love was not on the roster, would you be ok with the Packers drafting a QB in the 2nd round?  I don't so if you can get a 2nd for him, do it.  I'd even say early 3rd.  Once you get to mid/late 3rd, maybe best to just keep him because a late 3rd/early 4th probably isn't worth it.

Eh, I don't think what we saw in the KC game from Love is the final product. Might be far from it.

It wasn't a good debut but I think he's still got a chance. That said, with the new deal for Rodgers I think if you can get a good draft pick for him in this draft you do it. A FA backup QB doesn't have to cost a lot. Blake Bortles is still out on the golf course waiting for a call from that number he has blocked.
