There's no need to tie up $2.6M cap with the lowest tender when you can just sign Barnes to any deal you like later on. The team and his agent have had conversations and if both want to see him return, they'll work it out.

However, Barnes has no path to starting in GB, so he might prefer to play on a lesser talented squad to accrue more snaps. Additionally, the Packers got a good look at Isaiah McDuffie and as the season went along, McDuffie took Barnes' ST snaps. So its possible GB isn't overly worried about losing Krys Barnes.

But either way, GB needs that cap space right now for other signings
