At what point does Rodgers throw in the towel and say something like “I’m close but the rehab isn’t quite progressing at the rate I would like so without risking any further injury I won’t be back this year but my goal now is to be 100% ready for next season.”

With Tim Boyle now starting for the Jets, I forgot how absolutely horrible of a QB he is.

First 3 years of college at FBS school: 1 TD, 13 INT

Went down to FCS school his senior year: 11 TD, 13 INT

So far in the NFL: 3 TD, 9 INT

I know Wilson is bad, but holy jesus.

Wilson isn't as bad as Boyle. I think they're trying to shield Wilson from that awful O-Line especially with Becton out.

Wilson needs a change of scenery and a decent OL to play behind. Put Wilson in the SF scheme with Shanarat calling the plays. You think Purdy is good? Hah! Wilson would be great in that SF system

Nope, that would conflict with his my medical team and more importantly ME know more than the trad guys and gals.

How many QBs that the Jets blew a top 3 draft pick can the Niners resurrect? I find it amazing that the Niners gave away the farm to blow a top pick on Lance, are resurrecting Darnold's career, yet have Mr Irrelevant kicking asses and taking names.

That being said, I agree with everything in your post. But Wilson is really going to be damaged goods by the time he gets out of NY.

The only way that happens is if Joe Rogan doesn't give him clearance to return.

It is coming. The Jets owner fires everyone at the end of the year and trades Rodgers to the Vikings.

It's more likely that the Jets trade the farm for Adams and then sign Bakh once the Packers release him.

You may be right.... But I've seen that guys arm talent. It's just a matter of whether or not he can get his head and psyche straightened out.

In the meantime .... A vote of confidence 😁 for NatHack

I actually wanted Wilson to be part of the Rodgers trade like Goff was in the Stafford trade. But I knew because of his draft position he'd never fit under the cap. Coming to GB last offseason would have given Wilson a better chance of turning it around. I think he's got the physical talent but his head is probably really messed up after another brutal year with the Jets.

I think we might be headed towards vague notions of whether he's even capable of being back next year. He has lots of hints to drop to remind the front office about their commitment to him and how much he likes communication about free agency and the draft. Not sure how much his potential retirement would blow up their cap but it might be a strong bit of leverage.

I imagine he's going to want offensive line help over the Jets future QB in round one. Meanwhile the Jets have reached a dead end with Wilson. They might be pretty well placed in the draft to take one of the second tier QBs in round 1 and since they don't have a 2nd this year...

Francesa is a Giants shill who hates the Jets and doesn't care for the Packers either.

Also a Manning shill.  Many years ago he did a Sunday morning NFL show that had Boomer Esiason as a regular guest.  One year in the run-up to the playoffs, Esiason pointed out that Peyton had a sub-.500 playoff record (this was well before the second SB win) and Francesa was adamant that it was entirely the fault of the defenses he had.  There was another game,  I think against the Cowboys,  where Peyton threw 4 INTs and the Colts lost in OT.  Francesa was pretty much hanging up on callers suggesting Peyton might bear some responsibility for the loss.

He will wait until they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, just like his excuse last year for not letting Love take snaps even with his broken thumb and bruised ribs.

If there is nothing to play for, he won't want to play.

Foster Brooks was funny as hell on the old Dean Martin celebrity roasts. A Rochester guy, too.

From time to time, I get to retell a story about Foster Brooks.

During a MNF game (Giants/Cowboys?) in the middle 1980's, they brought him into the booth at halftime to explain the playoff possibilities as they were at that time. It was as hilarious as you can imagine.
I've never laughed so hard in my life!
To this day, I can't think of any single moment in television history that was any greater.

Francesa sounds like he's fed up with Rodgers, especially as a GM. He definitely doesn't want Rodgers jeopardizing another injury by coming back this season.

They're 4-7....they pretty much have to R-E-L-A-X & run the table to make the post-season. That just isn't happening....It doesn't make much sense to come back this season.

Funny thing is he stopped drinking at all when he was young. The act was just that good.

New York Jets QB called out for allegedly lying about injury

Gregg Doyel with the Indianapolis Star called out Rodgers for being deceitful about the injury. Doyel wrote on X that he doesn’t believe it’s a torn Achilles injury.

Gregg Doyel
@GreggDoyelStar
I don’t believe for a second he suffered a torn Achilles, at least not as we know what a torn Achilles is. Whatever Kevin Durant, Kobe and Brandon Graham suffered, he did not. Because this procedure would be trumpeted as a breakthrough, not treated as a secret. Plus he’s a liar.

@Pikes Peak posted:

He is a liar….but THIS is just speculation, no proof offered.

I agree, just showing how Rodgers is trending. The guy has lost a lot of respect the last 3-4 years. Before that nobody would have questioned him on anything.

https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-...fense-010330802.html

This team likely wouldn’t have been Super Bowl contenders even if Rodgers was able to stay healthy for the whole season.

-------------

BULLSHIT!! The writer under estimates what Rodgers brings to the table. Cobb & Lazard would've been dramatically better with Rodgers under center.....and Garrett Wilson would be having a wayyyy better season.

The biggest issue with the Jets (other than Rodgers Achilles) is their O-Line....

Rodgers had a QBR of 41 last season, by far his worst. His first year as a starter it was 63. Prior to 2022 he only had 2 seasons below 60. He was clearly on the decline.

That's why the injury really hurt the Packers because I think the Jets would have been picking about #20. So the injury costs the Packers about 15-20 positions in the draft.

@FLPACKER posted:

The  ineptitude of their offensive line would not allow Rodgers' to bring anything to the table.....he would have been running for his life.

Evidence? Oh yeah, getting his butt kicked on all the drop backs in week 1.
