Dom apologists also like to forget those kinds of stats also occur when his defenses have been mostly or entirely healthy. Against DAL, NO, DET, BAL, etc he had either 10/11 or 11/11 preferred starters. Same with previous seasons.

So, no. It's not always injuries.

MM said today positional meetings (with his asst's) "were rough this morning" and he had some of lowest grades of the season against the Browns.

Why do I feel despite all this, Dom ain't going anywhere?

I think this is finally the turning point for Dom as DC.  I've never jumped on the pitchfork and torch wagon over all the years we've seen the D collapse in the playoffs or have watched too many QB's shred our secondary.  Never thought he'd get booted despite what popular opinion was.  But this season feels different.  There have been many excuses for the D over that time, most of them having to do with injuries, some with high draft choices that didn't work out.  But I think we've seen enough player development on that side of the ball where results should be showing.  They were - run D was very stout until last couple weeks thanks to Daniels, Clark, Lowry and Martinez.  Randall, King and Jones paired with HHCD and Burnett should be providing returns also.  But holy crap it seems like third down D (long and short) has nose dived and scoring D is mired in the bottom third.  If they're on the field last, it's almost a given the other team will score.  The last straw is how bad they looked vs. CLE.  And the D has been relatively healthy.  I've given DC the benefit of the doubt ever since 2010 but I think I'm done.  I think he is too.

I think Capers is a good football coach.

But I think he is a bad fit for the Green Bay Packers style of talent procurement. As a draft and develop team with a franchise QB the money the team spends will be mostly on the offensive side of the ball. That makes sense to me.

It also means that the defense will see more turnover in it's players and will be generally younger and less experienced.

Capers system is complex. As MM says about his offense, "It's multiple". Well so is Capers system. If you populate the defense with experienced vets who are good players it would be an awesome defense most of the time. Much like Pittsburgh's most seasons.

But what you end up with is a defense that gets gashed for big plays because all those young guys eventually make blunders that good offenses eat for lunch. We see it year after year after year. Chunk plays and more chunk plays.

GB should find a system coach like the guy in ATL or SEA. Draft speed and let them loose. You can find speed guys all over the draft. What you cannot find are smart, speed guys who need to all work in unison and understand what they are doing.

Why do you and so many other Packer fans think Dom will be back in 2018 to "lead" the D yet again?

How about because the Pack's defensive performance in 2017 is not much different than what we've seen the past 7 years?

Or because MM has hitched his bandwagon to a defensive coordinator who is the longest serving defensive coordinator in the NFL by a wide margin so why change now?

Or because MM declared Dom is an outstanding football coach less than a year ago?

Or because letting Dom go now would be a tacit admission that those who have griped about Dom's D's last place ranking in 2011, the D's epic meltdown against Kap & the 49ers in the playoffs after the 2012 season, and the D's mediocre to poor play every season thereafter were right and Dom should have been shown the door long ago?

Or maybe because of all of the above?

Sad, but true.

We do what we do.

Stick with someone past his prime.

Every team has several guys who are average on D and O. It's what the coaches do with them that makes or breaks that side of the ball. No one team is full of only superstars on either side of the ball.

OUTSTANDING!

Imagine if he had to play ARod twice a year every year?

Someone (other than Daniels) needs to be a vocal guy on defense in that locker room.

I'm looking at Clay or Burnett...maybe even Clark.

#Riseagain above your coaching.

It bears repeating: "Dom Capers is an OUTSTANDING football coach."

WOW

I would have thought that a team would toss an INT or the RB stumble and fall on 3rd-and-5 or something, but 100%? Well that's a sobering statistic. I wonder what AR12's comeback-win percentage would be in the 4th Q if the D could make more stops? Maybe Skippy B would shut up.

If Dom is let go will he be hired in 24 hours?

UPS is hiring seasonal workers.  They're called Santa's helpers which is appropriate considering how generous he's been to so many people outside GB.
