Here’s the problem with the 2019 Patriots. They knew going into last offseason that there were going to be too many new, unproven, untested faces on the O side. And yet Brady chose not to attend OTAs, where he would have gotten acquainted with his new targets. And he did this knowing he would play the equivalent of two quarters of preseason football.
Belichick, knowing his O would have a season-long identity crisis, distracted himself with a marquee role in the league’s 100th year festivities. He said it made him a better coach, but I have yet to see any evidence of that.
The team sees complacent. Like they know they won it all last year, 2 of the last 3, 6 of the last 18, and that they had too much of an uphill climb to achieve what bo one achieved since they themselves achieved it in February, 2005: repeat.
It’s a lost season.
