When the Vikings attempted a pass of 21-plus yards their quarterback rating was a whopping 19.1, (and that was with one safety in the box)

The league average rating on those same passes was 76.9
They will try to stretch the field more this year with Jennings, and now Patterson. It will be interesting to see how Ponder develops if he has a guy or two to throw to. But... I'm betting if Ponder gets better, the more PO'd Peterson would get. Not only that, but now they have a backup QB who is probably a step ahead of the starter. TC hasn't started yet, but I do not see that locker room as a let's-work-together-for-the-good-of-the-team place to be.

Throw to, or throw in the general direction of? It's true he hasn't had good receivers to work with, but some of them still do get open from time to time, and he can't get them the ball when they do. Having a guy who can get open more often than the clowns he's had in the past just means he'll miss more throws than he did when he didn't even bother trying.

And I can't wait to see how this new turd, Corduroy Patterson or whatever the hell his parents named the moron, starts whining in the press when Ponder can't get him the ball on less than 3 hops. Guy has diva written all over him, although god only knows who did that for him because sure as hell he can't spell it himself.
Jennings may be acting a little prickish these days, but I have a hard time disliking the guy. He was a great player and a great teammate for a long time and he played a huge part in bringing another Lombardi Trophy home.

Great catch.

Great route.

Then again, the one who throw him that ball ain't bad either. That was no Favre heave-it-up-and-see-what-happens throw. Rodgers has done numerous film reviews with the media where he see's open lanes the reporter simply can't see. Few QB's in the NFL can throw into windows like 12 can. GJ's may soon find that out.

I think there's a lot more receivers in the league who can make that catch than there are quarterbacks who can make that throw.

I hope he's feeling fresh and clean in his new environment.

But while most queen fans may be douche's, the team itself is one big enema waste bucket.
Not at all. Agree pretty much most of the time (Jenkins is still stuck in my craw).

I thought it would be obvious but my point is if guys leave and go to a rival, they get bashed. Surprised fans don't realize that the majority of players really don't care about that stuff.

I will note that I suspect that Favre chose the Vikings for other reasons as well as them being a team on the cusp but I will also say I don't think the Packer/Viking rivalry is anywhere near as personal to him as it is to fans growing up bleeding green and gold.
I think a lot of fans that care about the Packers as much as most of us do, lose sight of the fact the players don't have the same allegiances that they do. Jennings and his agent over-evaluated his worth in a cap-strangled market. The Vikings offered him by far the most money, and he wisely took it. Jennings' addition make a much bigger positive impact on the Vikings than his departure makes a negative impact on the Packers. Plus it gives the Packers more cap space to spend on areas of far greater need. It's a win/win. I don't see why any rational person would have a problem with that.

Anyone expecting him to continue to sing the praises of his former team while bemoaning his current one is living in fantasy land. As much as we might like to believe otherwise, to a non-fan there is almost no difference between the Packers and Vikings.

So what if he left out Rodgers' name in an interview? Why should anyone other Rodgers' be worried about that? Jennings also said afterward, "I have no ill feelings for anyone over there (in Green Bay, and that includes quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom he did not identify by name in a recent Pioneer Press story). We're just back and forth. He jokes. I joke." Anyone wanting to read more into it than that is just transferring their own weird issues into a relationship between too men that they do not know, and have zero inside information about.

Jennings was a great Packer for a long time. By all accounts he was a great teammate. He did a lot of charity work while he was a Packer and was nothing but a terrific addition to the community.

Near as I can tell the only negative issue anyone can really point to is the series comments made by his sister on twitter during one game. And really if you're holding a personal grudge over something his relative said, you should probably re-examine your ability to think rationally.

I wish Jennings continued success and good fortune. He was one of my favorite Packers of this generation both for his performance and his attitude. I will always remember him best for his reactions during Super Bowl XLV. I'm glad NFL films chose him to wear a microphone that day.

Going forward, I hope he makes the Pro Bowl every year of his Vikings career, and is healthy enough to play in those Pro Bowl games so he can get his one and only victory for each season.

AR seems like a man of action and few words.

Gerg, from the video I've seen in games, is a lot of mouth.

Is it possible AR wasn't too fond of Gerg running his mouth like a school girl all the time?

I'd say sure.  Gerg sounds quite like the sour grapes guy.

And you notice AR hasn't said another word about it since "who?"

all that said, I don't give a sh*t about anything gerg has to say anymore.  looking forward to the games, if he isn't hurt, and his 3 catches for 9 yards.

If Jennings believes Favre has earned more respect than Rodgers, than he truly is on the right team. Favre played longer and accomplished more statistically, Rodgers is every bit the player Favre was. Rodgers is also 1000x the human being that Favre is, that alone puts him miles ahead of Favre in the respect category. Jennings is a receiver, they're all prima donnas, but he is just a little more professional than most usually.

My hunch is that the Packers don't react too kindly to media controversies from their players so Jennings kind of had to shut his big mouth...McCarthy is about football and isn't too keen on his players getting involved in this kind of BS. The Vikings seem to be more lax with their players so he's finally getting the opportunity to run his mouth.

Wasn't there rumblings that when James Jones became a free agent, that Rodgers (along with maybe Driver) approached McCarthy/Thompson pleading the case to keep Jones and how important he was to the offense? Maybe a reach, but could Gerg be pissed because no one spoke up on his behalf like they did for Jones? Gerg seems pretty self centered if you ask me.

there is the exceptionally high level of reporting we typically get from ESPN, and then there is the twitter snippets.

Fine, high quality information on both counts.

I feel dirty for having watched that much espn.

Greg said nothing I wouldn't expect from an athlete on another team.  He's right, wide receivers have been better around Favre and Rodgers, he is making the point that he will elevate the receiver position in MN (he will, just not that much).

I guess if you are looking to be offended...

Point taken. But watch the interview starting at 1:50. The "Brett Favre, receivers around him, Aaron Rodgers, receivers around him"..... then watch where his hand goes with "Sister Christian, receivers around him". Isn't that a "I never got my share of credit for what I did to help those guys but I swear I'm gonna' get it now!!!!" moment?

And if I find out I'm looking for a reason to be offended that's ok too. My line of work dictates I play with a chip on my shoulder.

Garbage man?

I agree, he is essentially saying that he will completely raise the game of talent around Ponder.  I don't doubt that Greg feels a little slighted and may have pride issues, but that is also not shocking from a world class athlete.

Indeed, and as more of the "real" Gerg slips out, the media and the vikings are only too happy to egg it on. Of course they want him to poke sticks at GB, and he's happy to have a Festivus in July celebration - The Airing of Grievances !

Its become a viking tradition where former Packer players go on national TV and....well you know the rest.
