All good personally here in Jax....some pretty bad flooding in a lot of parts. Rode things out in hotel...never lost power. Power is out at home and bridges still closed so can't go home til tomorrow....hopefully. Lot of folks in bad shape in FLA and will be for a long time.

Take away whatever politicized concepts people want to cling to outside of real facts and ask yourself this. Why would the great American free market want to turn away massive emerging markets? Don't think about climate concerns, ****ting where we eat, just pure capitalist economics.
Vertical urban farming, energy reclamation, cutting edge technology for massive infrastructure update/change, energy production just to name a few. All of which have even bigger foreign policy impact. EVEN IMMIGRATION! Think about a whole slew of industry that goes around globe, for profit, helping to establish self sustained infrastructures so those yucky other people can stay in their homes? Walk through all of that while looking at what China is doing and then tell me about how it's all fantasy because of convenient "market forces".
If you can't grasp the issues on social/ecological level then look at it through your pocket book, the one you say is being looted, and ask why the great American engine would be so ****ing stupid.
So all of this would have an impact on the major issues of domestic and foreign policy. EVEN TERRORISTS! But **** that you bunch of pussy tree huggers.

Not that it's good anywhere but I seriously wonder if it's worse along the river, which is downtown, than it is the coast.
Please don't cite China as a green paragon. If you've ever been to China, they are essentially 1960's-1970's USA relative to air and water pollution. The air quality and visibility there is horrendous. Open burning is widely practiced for rural areas. Add to that a burgeoning middle class that can afford automobiles, and there is an internal incentive to do something drastic.
Of course, when people plug in their electric cars, the coal-fired power plants will charge 'em right up.

Nobody is citing them as a green paragon. Exactly the opposite. The difference is they are doing something about it even though it's hard. While I'm sure the authoritarian government has profit in mind as much if not more as "being green", which was exactly the opposite of my post, they are still actively more engaged in alternative approaches. Having a billion people may have something to do with it.
Of course when you plug in the electric cars you'll have small wind turbines and a solar panel on each station just like at the new HyVee that opened up near me. See, that's the whole thing about energy production but you keep on ignoring it because supporting a dirty, dangerous, finite and failing industry in coal just makes good sense.
More idiotic excuses.
Oh BTW, did you know there are programs out there to have all of your energy used in your residence/property come from green sources? Well there is! It's a voucher/certificate setup through your existing energy provider. You simply have a green firm handle your billing and they submit a certificate of use (or something of the like) and you pay them. Crazy, I know. Let's shut that crazy **** down amiright! Let's blast mountains into oblivion instead of working on battery technology to store more energy efficiently.

Minor roof damage....a broken fence....a day full of yard clean-up...I got nothin' to complain about. This was taken by a neighbor who stayed....can't go home 'til tomorrow.

All good here in Georgia. A few trees fell nearby but did not cause any damage to my place or surrounding homes that I've seen so far. If you've seen the dashcam video of the car hitting a tree in GA, that was not too far from my place.

My sister and her family live in Augusta, GA and they were without power till just about an hour ago after Irma knocked down some trees in their neighborhood. That's a long was inland for a hurricane to be raising a ruckuss.
