And they'll burn through it faster than **** through a goose.

Only way this get's crazier is if Rice has proof the NFL and the Ravens saw the entire video before giving him a 2 game suspension and has now kicked  him out of football and he decides to sue.

That would be phenomenal.

I don't believe for one second that the NFL or the Ravens hadn't seen the video until today. That makes absolutely zero sense. Even more mind boggling is the fact that the commish would give Rice such a lenient punishment, considering the virtual certainty that this video would one day be leaked to the public.

Is Goodell so arrogant to think that this wouldn't blow up in his face? I don't see how he stays commissioner when the the dust is settled.

The reason why Goodell originally gave Rice a two-game suspension is because Rice's wife pleaded with Goodell to show leniency towards her husband.  This after she married him and decided to drop the charges against him.  Rice is an absolute POS and I hope he never plays another down in the NFL.  With that said, I can't have any sympathy for her because she not only stayed with him -- she MARRIED his sorry ass.  Some will try to rationalize her actions as those of a woman with "battered wife syndrome", but in the end, we all have a choice and she made hers.  They're both ****in' pathetic.

I don't buy the league hadn't seen the video either.  Most states have very liberal open records laws.  Unless a juvenile is involved or the investigation is still pending, you can pretty much get whatever you want from the police (Reports, audio, video, etc) by filling out a simple form and paying a small fee.

Battered woman syndrome is very real and ugly, it is the mental torture of person beaten into submission.  With that said, I'm sure she is an idiot just like Ray Ray probably because she is drawn to dip****s like Ray and needs as much counseling as he does.  This kind of crap is text book.

Look at the stories IC and Pakrz relay, woman gets beat to a pulp and then doesn't press charges or immediately wants the guy released.  It's ****ing ugly all the way around, there is no damsel, it's just ****ed up people putting each other through a meat grinder.  Some figure it out, some don't, some die.

So when people are trying to assign equal blame who is it that you think takes the beating on a regular basis?  Where does the dysfunction end up?  Usually with someone beaten to a pulp or dead and it's not Ray Ray.

If this is what it takes for Ray Ray to learn then **** him.

This isn't even about the individuals, it's about what we as a society allow if not overlook when it comes to celebrities and wealth.

edit:  And I'm not attacking.  If we truly look at what cops/social workers see every day it would make most people sick and I'm sure there isn't some grateful damsel waiting.  The point is it's wrong whether the parties involved know it or not.

Here's what I can't come to terms with:

The NFL and teams have some pretty crack investigators and the money to purchase footage just like TMZ did.

However, Goodell and the league honchos aren't stupid. Had they seen the footage and knowing full well it would eventually become public they would have gotten more on top of this.

I suppose it's possible whomever was holding the footage was deamanding a "ransom" from the league before selling it to TMZ and some "gotcha"/ hoping for their "15 minutes", but that doesn't explain it all either. I'm having a really tough time believing the league investigators hadn't seen the footage but I'm also having a hard time they were that dumb if they had.

Henry, I don't disagree with anything you've said in principle.  And it could very well be the case that Janay Rice's actions were done out of fear and to try and foster some semblance of a peaceful co-existence at home.  Another possibility is that the Rices have a volatile relationship of mutual combat, where conflict resolution often includes pushing, shoving and hitting.  Those kinds of relationships also exist.  Whatever category the Rices fall, they have a young daughter together and the fact that she's exposed to this in any way is a damn shame.

They saw (seen) it. She pleads for leniency on Sugar Ray & gets married. Gets the leniency & now the brutal footage is public & a PR nightmare.

Can't wait to see what happens to Ray McDonald.

Let's assume Goodell knew about the Rice video.

How long can he wait before suspending Ray McDonald indefinitely until details of the case emerge? It's obvious SF is going to take the Raven's approach here.

Is Goodell dumb enough to sit on the sidelines and let another case blow up in his face?

Also, the NFL's earlier treatment of the Ray Rice incident shouldn't surprise anyone.  Josh Brent got his job back.  Donte' Stallworth was allowed to come back and later retire.  The Goodell-era NFL is ****.

I think time may be up for Roger Goodell as NFL Commish.

This incident with Rice and his unsuspecting GF getting a right cross to the chin and then the NFL and Ravens try to pass it off and cover up the terrible nature of this action.

I don't like the direction the NFL is heading under Goodell.  His administration is changing the game and not necessarily for the better.  From promoting more offense to inhibiting good defense to rising ticket prices and to continually allow thugs and criminals to get repeated chances to play in the NFL and we as fans have to pay higher prices every year.  I hope he is gone soon.

and this is just as stupid and lame as can be too.  nice attempt. but I suppose what else can you do now...

from pft:

The process of scrubbing any vestige of Ray Rice from the Ravens organization has begun.

This afternoon, the Ravens finally deleted the tweet from the initial Ray and Janay Rice press conference, that charming one where they documented her apology for getting punched in the face and knocked unconscious.

Fortunately, we figured this might happen so we took a screenshot of it this afternoon when it was still up.

Ray Rice tweet after his WTF press conference that seemed like ages ago:

"I won't call myself a failure. Failure is not getting knocked down. It's not getting up."

He really did tell the world he viewed his wife as a failure minutes after the presser.

You stay classy Ray Rice.

According to the new rules, that would be 6 games if it was a 1st offense.

Mandatory sentencing / discipline is bad news.  That deserves at least a season, but these new rules would protect him if the team chose not to act.

It's a six-game minimum suspension, not maximum.

What's naive? The thought that  Goddell may  not survive this?

Maybe so. I kind of think the owners are going to be very disappointed with their boy bringing so much bad PR down on the shield with the way this situation was handled. We'll see how it plays out.

Oh so now you get it asswipe?

You ****ing moron.  It's not even in the same ballpark you POS.  You immediately assigned blame to Janay you ****.  The fact you can't even differentiate makes it even more tragic.

You are the biggest pile of compost ever on this board.  Raging fundy POS.

I guess the steaming pile of **** forgot his argument where he placed the blame almost entirely on the woman who took the punch because "she should know better".

You deserve everything you have coming to you including the scorn of your family after years of abuse.  ****ing scumbag.

No- it's precisely what I'm saying. Armored Saint even proposed an further scenario where it is a mutually abusive relationship. It's plausible. All I said was not was a horribly escalated argument. You insist on tying much much more do you can throw all your insults into the thread. You're looking for moron? Look in the mirror, fuc*o.

Jump to 1000 incorrect conclusions, commence the name calling, bring the typical lackeys quickly in tow, and completely miss the f-ing point. Back on the sauce you piece of dog excrement? You were funnier then. Now you're just a cretin with internet balls.

Are we still talking about rakes?

I would say his girlfriend definitely owns some of this.

If they break up, I agree that her being a bitch in the street contributed to that.

If he called her a bitch, I agree with that.  She seems ****faced stupidmouth even without audio.

If he left, just cold left her ****faced stupidmouth and all I would agree that rice did the right thing.

If ray had chosen to use words, I would understand it.  If he would have returned the serve with his own ****faced stupidmouth, I would say the two of you deserve each other.

She'd need to own that.

A man using physical violence over someone not even in his own physical zip code?  That is all, 100%, without a doubt on ray mother****ing rice.  She did nothing, zero to deserve getting cold clocked like that.  If he sat and listened to her ****faced stupidmouth for another 7 days straight, she still would not have done anything that warranted that punch.

The best kind of victim blaming is victim blaming.

You cover up for your behavior.  It's written all over every post you ever had on this board.

You ran right to the "bitch deserved it" defense.

Then you blame me for coming off as the POS you are.  Yeah, you're transparent and you don't even know it.

Just remind them of this quote:

“To be honest with you, it was just Lambeau Field,” Rice said. “I didn’t see anything special.  They put us in the middle of nowhere and it’s not a real exciting place.  Everything about the place is terrible, to be honest with you.”

Exactly! That will shut them up.

I've got to believe that even they aren't going to put any backing up for Ray Rice with the PR backlash that would ensue.  If they have any sort of halfway decent PR rep in the NFLPA, they know to stay away from this one.
