I don't care if it's Leonhard or Montgomery or Belichik. Let's just get someone who looks at the skillsets for the guys on D, and puts guys in positions to succeed. I don't think putting Quay seven yards behind the LOS or Preston covering WRs is the best use of talant. Gute has drafted bigger, physical DBs; zone coverage is not where those guys have the best success. Most of all, get someone who will make aggressive plays where the defense dictates play, not read-and-reacts. This D is fairly young and skilled; use that aggressiveness and let them make plays.

BTW, if Barry goes now, Ja returns to the field. Bet on it.

Thing is every team has suffered at least one blowout this year, even CLE, SF, PHI and NEP.  It happens, it's the NFL.  You need to look at game to game performance and especially crunch time within games.  I don't have time to do that but there damn well better be someone at 1265 doing that.

He's going to finally can Barry then hire...Staley, isn't he.

If Staley is the next nepotism hire, the fire MLF thread starts the same day.

I think Jim Leonhard would be a good choice.  I'm not sure if it's true, but I had heard that he was offered the DC job before Joe Barely and turned it down.  Things have changed for him since then - maybe he'd say yes now.

If not, what about giving that old pirate Mike Zimmer a call.  He's 67, so maybe that's too old?  And he may not be willing to accept anything less than a head coaching gig.  But if he did want to be a defensive coordinator again, maybe he'd like to do it someplace where he could kick the Vikings' ass twice a year.

Joe Barry should have married Mrs.Kiel..she would definitely be telling him what a loser he is.

From about 2005-2008 I went on quite a sales run where I was either the Rep of the Year or the top sales volume guy. They always gave a nice check and some Hartman luggage which was nice for my wife and daughter as they always liberated it.

In 2009 I finished 3rd out of 30 reps. As I packed for the sales meeting, “Mrs. Kiel said to me, “Why are you even going if you didn’t win something?.”

Behind every good man...

Leonhard has never been an NFL position coach much less a coordinator. Can we please stop that train before it leaves the station?

MLF is not going to willingly hire anyone who is a plausible candidate to take over for him on an interim basis if the team decides to can him. That's why the Packers end up with the coordinators they do. Bisaccia was an exception, but after Drayton I think MLF was not given much of a choice.

This is what I was talking about in the game thread.   Someone commented on only giving up 13 points in the 1st half as being satisfactory.   No, it wasn't.  It was fools gold because they were getting slowly bled out.   The red zone stops were not sustainable because of the amount of time spent on the field getting worn down.

The stat I'm interested in is points per drive.    Barry's philosophy shortens the game as he allows these long drives so the points per game looks better than it is.   But he puts his offense under extreme pressure as they need to score every drive to keep pace.

Barry isn't capable.  50 drunks in a bar pegged that before the hire.  Now only proving it for fool me once, fool me twice, fool me three fucking years.  Jesus Fuck

Guys like Amari Rodgers, Darnell Savage, continually trotted out because of draft status.  Then put into positions they are not capable of in the first place.

Shit show special teams cost us how many games over the years before throwing some money at a coach.   At least now I would condsider the ST on par with league average.

Campbell, Buck Cherry, Alexander, and to a lesser extent Kenny Clark, and maybe even Rashan at times stealing money.

Who is in charge of allowing that to happen......hmmmmm.  Time to empty out the silos
