Couple things... who steps in as interim DC? Olivadotti makes the most sense as he's on the headset with his LBs while plays are called in.

Nobody. Cut the defense loose and let the veterans direct traffic and play to their strengths. Couldn't be any worse.

I love it! Call it hat defense. They can yell out "HD" every time the offense starts to get set. Defensive philosophy: line up your hat across from an opponent's hat and knock the guy over. If he gets up, knock him back over.

At this point, it's like being mad at the dog for shitting all over the living room, not the owner who was too busy scrolling Instagram to take the dog out.

We have the shitty defense our HCINO (head coach in name only) allows. It's beyond Barry's fault at this point...it's the fuckhead who has refused to hold him accountable.

Are we going to pretend that the owner isn’t actually shitting on the floor right next to the dog?

This is not simply Joe Barry’s defense. It is also Matt Lafleur’s defense. This tissue soft, passive defense is exactly what Matt Lafleur craves. Tissue soft and passive. Perfectly describes Lafleur’s personality.

That was kind of the point...this falls mostly on the HC because he is the "man," "in charge."

The Lombardi years were before my time but I'd love to see how he would have handled Barry.  Just like I'd like to see my dad react to Trans athletes or men who identify as women using the same restrooms as little girls. Worth the price of admission.

Cut that beta loose. This team is no threat to win the big one while he is in charge.

I don’t know..people who use the term “beta”…I’ve just had a historical problem with that.

I forgot who the player was, but this is fact.

That was Johnathan Garvin back in July.

According to a source close to the organization, Joe Barry is expected to be relieved of his coaching duties in the coming days. Since the beginning of his tenure the Packers defense has ranked last in rushing defense and they have a 30-21 record over 2 and a half seasons.

Appreciate the link but the post was from 12/17. If it hasn't happened by now it won't happen until after the season.

I think it happens at the end of the season. Playoffs are a long shot and I don't think anyone on the defensive staff is auditioning for the DC job.  Barry needed to be fire last January.

WTF is the deal with this franchise and garbage defenses?  We've had like one top 10 defense in the last 20 years and go figure, we win the Super Bowl that year.  3 GMs, 3 head coaches, and 5 DCs yet we suck at defense every year.  What's the reason for this franchises defensive failures?

I get what you are saying but if Carolina shreds our D like Tampa did being fired on Monday or Tuesday would still be in a few days IMHO.

Nah, that tweet was from the day of the Bucs game. It looked bogus at the time and proved to be so. They were clearly saying Joe was getting fired earlier this week.

the best sportswriter in Wisconsin these days is Jesse Temple at the athletic. he only covers the Badgers though

I think they dig, they just don't publish what they know. They know a whole lot more about the 23 situation than what's being reported and the reporters will hint all around it, but the team prioritizes keeping things in house. They hire for loyalty and stability. It's hard to find people inside the building that will go on record even as an unnamed source.

I'm guessing there's also relationships between the paper's and radio station's management and the organization. How many people on the board are in businesses that advertise with both?

Always seems like there's two kinds of reporters in Green Bay, lifers and young people making a pit stop on their way to a bigger market. The team manages those relationships well enough to keep everyone happy.

Almost all the Jaire news and insight out there strikes me as just conjecture and speculation and that's why the media isn't wallowing in it. They nail something down that's substantive and they'll report it.
