Listened to a great clip of Greg Cosell this week talking about Johhny Selfmarketer.

He said after watching hours and hours of last years game tapes he couldn't get past 50-60 plays where the primary receiver was wide open but Johnny decided to improvise. The coaches designed the play. The play was set up and called. The play was there to be made. Yet he decided to pull it down and improvise.

He said if he had the opportunity to sit down and interview him like teams are going to do in the next few weeks he'd play those 50-60 plays and ask him why he didn't follow the script. If he cant make the throw, that's a problem. If he could but decided not to on his own that's potentially a bigger problem

in short, Cosell is not a Johnny Football fan.

Is being a "tool"  the same thing as being a "dick".  In my earlier days, we used to say "oh, he's being a dick".  Not sure where that even came from.  Richard Nixon?  or is it the penis?

So, how did "tool" come into our lexicon?
