Bogdan Bogdanovic agent history—
Marcus Morris (2019) agrees to 2yr/20m deal w/ Spurs. Spurs trade Bertans to Wizards to create space for Morris deal. Morris signs 1yr/15m with Knicks days later. Spurs lose Morris & Bertans.
Nemanja Bjelica (2018) agrees to deal with Sixers. Then has “2nd thoughts” and intends to return to play in Europe. Then flip flops again to sign a 3yr/20m deal with the Kings.

And now this just posts 1 minute ago. Drives up Bogdanovic's price even more.

With the recent sign-and-trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic falling apart, teams around the league with interest in Antetokounmpo might be looking to acquire the Sacramento Kings guard, according to Sam Amick of Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

“From there, don’t be surprised if Bogdanovic draws interest from many of the same teams who would love nothing more than for all of this chaos to convince two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to eventually head their way (Miami, Dallas, the Clippers, the Knicks),” wrote Amick and Nehm. “Why? Because it’s widely known that Antetokounmpo — who will be offered a supermax extension by the Bucks on Friday and has until Dec. 21 to sign it — has been recruiting Bogdanovic to come to Milwaukee. That reality, of course, means he has an added bit of value beyond his basketball talents.”

Would be just perfect if he ends up with the Lakers.

I went to look back at Bogdanovic a bit more. The way his agent has played this, the guy has turned into Klay Thompson all of a sudden in the eyes of the media. I knew he was a shooter, but how good is he? I really don't know. Here's a good way to look at it. His player efficiency rating last year was 15.1 (a career high). This is a way to measure total value where the league average is 15.0.  How does this compare to other players?

Runaway MVP candidate30.0–35.0
Strong MVP candidate27.5–30.0
Weak MVP candidate25.0–27.5
Definite All-Star22.5–25.0
Borderline All-Star20.0–22.5
Second offensive option18.0–20.0
Third offensive option16.5–18.0
Slightly above-average player15.0–16.5
Rotation player13.0–15.0
Non-rotation player11.0–13.0
Fringe roster player9.0–11.0
Player who won't stick in the league0–9.0

Bucks last year: Giannis 31.9; Middleton 21.1; Bledsoe 17.6 (12.6 in playoffs); Hill 16.9; Lopez 15.0; Ilyasova 14.9; Brown 14.8; DDV 14.1; Connaughton 11.5; Wilson 9.1; Matthews 8.3

Holiday 17.0.

Based on this, the biggest loss is Hill since you had to trade him and a bunch of picks to essentially swap Bledsoe for a very similar player that probably won't turn into a complete mess in the playoffs.

If Giannis leaves Milwaukee because they couldn't get a guy (Bogdanovic) that is another version of Mirotic (that can play defense), he probably was on his way out anyway.

It’s always possible they can get Ersan to come back for less than 7MM.   I mean, think of the value they got with Wes Matthews last year?  Those guys may be out there.

Go figure Bogdanovic and his agent want to go to LA.  Fuck him and his agent and the Lakers too.  I think it was all a complete ruse to up the interest and offer and screw the Kings over in the process.  For Milwaukee, it’s somewhat disappointing but in retrospect maybe it’s not.  We kept DDV, and they should still be able to sign decent contributor with the MLE.   Put it another way- if they got an Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder (or some similar combination) would we not be pretty excited about it?    The Lakers can have him.  Holiday was the real prize.

If the sign-and-trade leak hadn't occurred, we'd all be excited about getting Holiday and seeing what was coming next. Bogdanovic is potentially a nice player, but he's the same size, age, and type of player Malcolm Brogdon is (and has also already had knee surgery and missed some games in his career).

Whoever did the leak to begin with, Bogdanovic has moved from a guy most fans knew about but wasn't considered anywhere near a star player to one of the most pursued guys on the market. And his current team (a borderline 8th seed type) seems to have little interest in retaining him. None of this makes sense.

Maybe because he and/or his agent are drama queens?  And they have a younger, cheaper guy in Hield?  I mean, I like him as a player but is he worth 18-20MM a year?   That’s what he is seeking.  The Bucks could have offered about 15-16MM per year but would have had no money left to add anyone else.

@Packdog posted:

They have massive amounts of cap space. This could be a ridiculous amount of money.

I really like him as a player. Arrow pointed up. But he’ll be good in ATL, and he’ll be really good on that roster. Good for him. His Agent played the game. He'd have been really good on the Bucks, too. But for the rumored $18M/season? Yikes... that a prett big number.

There are others. There are some Budenholzer guys out there that could ring chase. There is shooting out there available. Veterans that could be interested.

Heard some radio show guy talking about this. Cracked me up.  He said "Bogdan Bogdanovic  ,  A name so nice you say it twice" !

PS. I like the Hawks being from SE Georgia.

Yeah....Once the NBA & everyone else is done tampering with the Bucks (with no fine) to get Giannis out of Milwaukee, Good luck getting any ratings there Adam Silver. I'll make it my life's mission to boycott the NBA.

The NBA can suck my.....well.....you know

That was stupid of Lasry to retweet. Basically admits guilt with the argument, “but they did it!” I understand his frustration, but now they will be losing picks over this. I’m not buying that the NBA fears a lawsuit from the Bucks about gifting Giannis to a big market. Also, it is now clear that Horst was not playing 4 dimensional chess, simply Chutes and Ladders. However, they still may land a couple of OK players, and adding Holiday was huge. Finally, assuming Bogdanovic’s agent leaked the trade, then f him a thousand times.

Somehow I don't think Adam Silver cares about Bucks fans providing ratings

I'm not sure how you can lose picks for tampering for a trade that didn't happen. If they take away any picks, the Holiday trade probably can't go through.

Horst may still salvage this somehow, but if I told you any team in the NBA made a series of trades/moves to net this return, you'd want to fire the GM immediately.

When the Bucks won Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals in 2019 (the high point in the last 40 years), they had eight guys play more than 20 minutes. Three of them were Giannis, Middleton, and Brook Lopez.

The other five guys were Brogdon, Bledsoe, Hill, Mirotic, and Ilyasova. In the last two off-seasons, they have either lost them without any compensation (not even to preserve extra cap space by trading them somewhere) or used them along with two unprotected first-round picks and two pick swap options (to a team with Zion Williamson and Ingram) for............

Jrue Holiday. That's it.

I don’t know... that’s not the way I am looking at it. Lasry isn’t admitting anything- there’s no trade, nothing happened, and it looks like he’s going to the Hawks. The investigation is what he’s responding to- and he’s 💯 right. All the shit that’s flying around every year, and an agent plays double Dutch with the Bucks and now they want to investigate? Where was any of this the last 10 years during the “player empowerment era”, you fucking hypocrites?

Whether Horst is playing a more complex game or not, the Bucks clearly were not the ones who leaked the deal, whether it was real or not. And now with the info coming out about this Agent, perhaps the league should be looking at THAT.

I have no problem with Alex Lasry tweeting about the hypocrisy of the NBA.  It happens all the time. People leaking insider information and then crying about or alleging tampering.

And wouldn’t you know it- ATL making moves left and right.  The team rumored to be interested in Bogdanovic is wheeling and dealing.  Memo to the Hawks.  Your team sucks and you play in the worst and most fickle sports town in Murica.  Good luck building a winner there even if it is a big market.

Fuck them....Fuck the NBA too.

I seriously don't know anyone who watched the NBA finals this year.

Just contract the league to NY / LA / Chicago

Everyone else can just be the minor leagues for those 3 cities. Watch & see the ratings plummet.

Montrezl Harrell just signed with the Lakers for 2 years and 19 million. That's an insanely undervalued contract. Of course, his agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports) would never do anything under the table (future movie roles, a promise of better contract in 2 years) that might implicate LeBron in tampering.

Just putting this Harrell contract in perspective, Woj just reported that Christian Wood (the guy the Bucks waived in 2018-19 because they needed a backup point guard for a few games) got a three-year, $41M deal with the Houston Rockets.

Wow... the deals are fast and furious now...

- Bertans $80M to stay in WAS

- Christian Wood get $41M to be a Rocket

- Wes Matthew’s to the Lakers

- Joe Harris get $75M to stay in Brooklyn

- Jeremiah Grant get 60$M from Detroit

- Mason Plumlee gets $24M from the Pistons

- Jalil Okafor to Pistons

(WTF is Detroit doing???)

- Montrezl Harrell to the Lakers

- Dwight Howard will back up Embiid

- Dragic stays in MIA

Robin Lopez to the Wizards.

This comment is a pretty big indictment of the Bucks right now.

Robin Lopez wanted to keep his freedom to choose where he plays next season and 'avoid getting thrown into a trade by the Bucks' after declining his $5M player option, per The Athletic

So Derrick Favors gets traded to the Pelicans last year as an expiring contract for draft picks after they sign Bojan Bogdanovic... and when he becomes a FA he signs a 3 year, $30M deal to go back to Utah? Not collusion? What the hell was the purpose of the deal?

If the league wants to investigate something they should start with the Lakers and the Harrell deal.  MP2 posted an article about the Joe Smith debacle years back and on the surface 2yrs 19MM seems really fishy.  Especially when you see the numbers being thrown around for other bigs.

So now Stephen Adams goes to New Orleans as part of the Holiday deal.  Not a bad move for OKC or New Orleans as there’s almost 30MM in salary relief after the season with his expiring contract.
