Brett Favre took the rivalry to places that even Del Rio couldn't comprehend.

Everyone expected Del Rio to land at USC. Right up until everyone realized he's a lifetime sub .500 coach. He can coach a loaded roster. Needs a great defense. He'll get neither in Minny. He's not the guy you want developing their 1st round QB selection either.

Si is mentioning Darrell Bevell as a possible head coach in Washington and Minnesoda. While I like what Bevel did as a Badger and as QB coach in Green Bay I can't see him as a head coach yet.  Of course Synderbrenner wants a guy he can control so I guess he would like Bevell.

****!  Local radio reporting Lions fired Schwartz.  No confirmation yet but I wanted that douche to hang on.

EDIT:  Schefter confirms.

@AdamSchefter: Jim Schwartz fired.

Lovie going to DET I would not be happy with.  That roster has quite a bit of talent, they'll have to make some decisions, but lots of talent.  Any real coach would have had that team in the playoff this year.

The running total so far:

1. Gary Kubiak - Texans

2. Rob Chudzinski - Browns

3. Leslie Frazier - Vikings

4. Mike Shanahan - Redskins

5. Greg Schiano (and GM Mark Dominik) - Bucs

6. Jim Schwartz - Lions

I'd be more worried with Sherman going to Detoilet.  He's the kind of coach that could make those players shape up or be gone.  Sherman as GM sucked and he was overwhelmed with both jobs.  Sherman as HC could make Lions relevant again.

Plus he was very hurt to be fired by TT.  He might want a chance at a little revege against the Packers twice a season.

Nice thing about these openings are that with so many, not like Minny or Kitties will get to choose cream of the crop.

Vikings have no franchise QB.

Lions have no discipline, an unending era of losing,  and a ton of coin invested in two players (Stafford/Megatron).

Quality candidates I would think would have most interest in sunny Florida or the Texans.

Every few years we get really worried that the Vikings and/or the Lions are going to hire some really good coach that will turn the roster around. And every few years the Vikings and/or the Lions hire some doofus who will continue their streak of mediocrity.

What do you mean " we" ?

The Black Monday coaching carousel is yet another time of the year when Packer fans get to appreciate the above averageness of the Mighty Green & Gold franchise....

THANKS AARON RODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

NFLN is reporting that Lovie's solution to the offensive coordinator is to bring in Jeff Tedford, so-called QB guru and Rodgers' former coach at Cal.

Could you imagine him with the Lions trying to work with Stafford?  The universe would explode.

Lovie's also one of the names being tossed out in Minny land, in addition to several others like Jay Gruden, Whisenhunt, Mike Zimmer, and two college guys: Shaw of Stanford and Franklin of Vandy. Zygi won't let any of them get on an airplane.

On Saturday, a source with knowledge of the situation told PFT that no decision has been made regarding the future of Vikings coach Leslie Frazier.  According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, a decision has been made.

Per Glazer, Frazier is out.

There was no wiggling or waffling in Glazer’s report.  Glazer said the hammer will fall after ownership meets on Monday morning with G.M. Rick Spielman.

If true, I'm sorry to hear it. He was a class act in an otherwise classless organization. Plus, we could usually beat him.

The Atlanta Falcons dismissed three assistant coaches on Monday, including offensive line coaches Pat Hill and Paul Dunn. In addition, the team let go of defensive line coach Ray Hamilton.

Hopefully Greg Roman (SF OC) gets hired away from Harbaugh.  Hopefully he's also being contacted this week to distract him.  I would think Snyder would wave enough money in front of him to make him think about it.
