Isn't Zimmer a 3-4 Defensive guy? Might be some big changes on the queens D if/when he implements a 3-4 D from their current 4-3 cover 2. And, how do the current queen d players fit into a 3-4 scheme?

What current Queens players? Regardless of which way they go they still need two DL and two LBs minimum. Robison could probably stand up.

Zimmer has actually run both schemes, the 3-4 being the most recent.

Word was that Zygi and Milf were "intrigued" by the idea of switching to a 3-4 defense before they started looking for coaches. This would be a good time for them to switch from the 4-3 because Allen's contract is done (as I think is Williams?). However, they have fewer and worse LBs than we do. They have Greenway, who's not as effective, and Cole, who came on at the end of the year. And Robison has only played on the line, but I can see them transitioning him to OLB, depending if he wants to. And their DBs are bad, too.

Basically, if they go 3-4, I think it means a total overhaul on D at almost every position.

The queens are in for a total overhaul on D regardless. Allen, Williams and Griffen are all free agents (Robison was due to be, but they extended him earlier). Greenway, Robison and Floyd are the only guys basically assured of starting there next year in the front seven.

I think Allen may have been able to play either 4-3 or 3-4 when he started, but now he is more of a one-skill player: pass rusher. His production is tailing off, especially his number of tackles. This year he had just 33 total; last year 35; his low was 29 his first year in 2004; his high was 65 in 2006.

Pretty sure the Bengals played 4-3 the past few seasons.

Off season could not be off to a better start.

You would have said that if they had hired Vince Lombardi. Homer!

Its a great fit for Norv, he sucks and they suck so now they can suck together

The Combined Suck is much greater than the sum of the sucks and the vikes continue to collect SUCK in their efforts to be the suckiest Suck that ever sucked

Best part about Norv is he will become the head coach in three years, blow it, and then be fired.  So, the Vikings are basically off the table for 6 years here.  (Nice use of Peterson's career.)

Norv's been a pretty solid coordinator, it's just when some GM thinks "Hey, he's been a good coordinator, let's make him a head coach" where things really fall apart.

Of course it won't matter much when they draft another QB bust and everyone is fired in three years. They have so many holes they'd probably be better off trying to actually fill the rest of the team out some this year and tanking for next.

Wait for it...

Disappointed not even an interview after 7 straight full seasons of top 10 D with 3 different teams. Last 5 times as D C= playoffs1st yr

But remember, his 3-4 is different than Capers 3-4, especially when it comes to the DL. Wade has his DL attack 1 gap, Capers DL are 2- gappers holding the fort.

Not sure how that impacts the OLBs or why you couldn't run both based on opponent
