I'll answer your question with a question. Which of these two options would you like as the next Packer QB?

1. Future Hall of Fame guy that is a narcissist, asshole, egomaniac, punches cancer patients in the crotch.

2. An exact clone of Kirk Cousins. Loves his momma, loves God, uses "gosh darnit" to get his point across when he's really heated.

Could number one at least punch the cancer patient in the gut, and not the crotch?

A lot of recent chirps on local/national media saying if/when the Packers lose their next 3 games, and are pretty much out of it, it's time to start Love. Peter King is among them who states if it's 4 games left, do it and see what you have with him.

Then there's this:

Once they lose against the Eagles, going into the bye week, it'll be a perfect excuse for Rodgers to shut it down due to the thumb injury and Love can finish this shit show that is the 2022 season.

I'm fine with Love getting those reps. This offense still lacks a ton of talent/production at TE, they are young/inexperienced at WR minus Cobb, and Watkins is worthless.

So we really have to temper expectations with Love and what he has to work with. But at least you should see a far more mobile QB who will actually play within the system. Something we have not seen since 2020.

If Rodgers at all thinks this is his last year then there's no way he's going to sit out. You think AR is going to be ok with his career ending by riding the pine?

If Rodgers wants to come back next year, why do you need to start Love?  There's no reason to sign a 5th year option on a guy who will be on the bench for 4 years.  You've already wasted his cheapest years.  Better to draft a QB and start over.  Rodgers cap hit may even require it in any case.

I would guess Rodgers plays against Philly and assuming it’s an L there’s no good reason not to sit him and then play Love the rest of the way.  At 4-8 they have no shot at the playoffs.  Get Rodgers healthy and showcase Love and see what he can do.  If he plays well, it may open the door to a trade (either him or Rodgers) in the offseason.  If he sucks, then it means it’s pretty likely Rodgers returns for 2023 and hopefully they can regroup and reload. If Rodgers gets annoyed or isn’t on board  then you can work with him to figure out a trade next year.

Bottom line, the fans won’t like it and it will likely piss off Rodgers but for once the team needs to grow a pair and do what’s best long term for the franchise.   Wolf and TT didn’t care what the fans or players or coaches thought. Gute needs to step up and quit trying to win the PR battle.

If you don’t play him his value is what it is today, if you play him and he stinks his value decreases.

Few organizations thought he was a franchise guy 4 yrs ago. He most likely has very little value now.

I don't think he'll completely stink. He's not in the Hundley or D. Kizer range.

I do think he's part of the same pattern that Gutey and their personnel guys have in their draft evaluations. They get enamored with a specific guy who should be drafted in the 4th-5th rounds and end up trading up to take him way too early. Love seems like the type of QB you can get in the 3rd round in most drafts. Savage shouldn't have been mid-1st round pick. We've talked about Amari Rodgers a lot. They traded up for Oren Burks.

I don't think Love is going to have much success with this group of WRs and TEs when he does play.

I don't want Love starting a single game because I don't want him to torpedo his trade value by putting out more tape--especially with no receivers and guys that are mailing it in for the off-season. We need to get some draft picks from his eventual trade, and we also need to take advantage of draft position next year to pick up our next franchise QB.

It's so difficult to evaluate young quarterbacks these days.  I don't know that Love starting 4 or 5 games is really going to tell you anything either.

I'm not comparing Love to Fields in CHI but look how long and how many bad games it took him before he started coming around.  The Bears' situation was completely different as they didn't have any other plan other than picking a QB high and sticking with him, which GB can't really do with Love.  But as immensely physically talented as Fields is, he stunk long and hard before it started to click for him.  And he's started how many games now?  Hurts in PHI also looked rough early on but improved the more he played.

Is 4-5 games enough for Love to show what he has or doesn't have?  Say he has a couple games that look promising, partially because defenses have almost no tape on him and how the offense would be run with him at QB.  Will that be fool's gold or promising?  The QB situation collectively is just so uncertain right now.

If you start Love, and he shows he can be a starter, you increase what you can get for him in a trade. It makes sense.

But I don't see 12 ever agreeing to sit, even if his thumb is falling off.

Is it in Rodgers contract that he can't be asked to sit if /when he is told to sit?

Even if its for the long term benefit of the teams future plans, I think not.

There's been a trend the last few years of teams drafting QBs who are big, fast, and powerful, but are mediocre passers. They will usually have some success because they can break contain and scramble for big runs, but will ultimately wind up losing more games than they win because of their throwing deficiencies.

Fields is one of many in this class.

It sounds like I may be in the minority here. I would like to see one more year from Aaron Rodgers. I really think that when he is healthy and has his line intact as well as smarter receivers we will see him excel. It may be too late for this year but I prefer that his receivers get a chance to work with him and learn. Besides, sitting him now is an insult the his many years of quality play.

While I agree about the trend you mentioned, I am unsure if Love fits the mold as a big, fast, and powerful QB. While I agree that he is not as accurate as Rodgers I don’t see him as a runner.

I will join you in the β€œminority”. I enjoy watching him play, and once he’s gone, he’s gone for good.  He had a few seasons not too long ago where most thought he was in decline and then he ran off to consecutive MVP seasons.

I will savor watching every game I can of one of the GOATs.

If Love shines you sign the option and trade him.

Count me on the "start Love" bandwagon. I'd like to see what we have in him. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Against Dallas, this team responded to AR as an enthusiastic leader; this past week, he was anything but that. Let's see if Love can inspire them, let's see what he does working with the 1's with practice, and let's see if he can find a receiver and is willing to throw to everyone.
