Agree that it was a dangerous throw. It would have been a questionable decision had it been 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down. It was 4th and goal, so the risk is minimized. The worst that happens is that they intercept the ball in the end zone and get it on the 20 instead of at the 4.

Agreed with the first part. Worser though would be a 109 yard pick 6. That doesn't happen often? Even worser.

☝🏻 last season Philly fans thought Jalen Hurts was in the top 3 of quarterbacks. Now they’re not sure if he can read defenses or if they should keep him (after giving him $250m).  I love where Love is but I’ll wait another season to make pronouncements.

Hurts has been playing hurt all season and their coach is a grade A douche nozzle who lost his team.

That said lots of people were high on Mac Jones after his first year as well.

I thought it was "God is first, others are second, I am third".

Gale Sayers actually wrote a book titled "I am Third."  The premise was "God is first, my family and friends are second,  and I am third."

I think, being 6'4", is a significant advantage for Love compared to the last 2 guys who on their best days were maybe 6'2", but more like 6'1" +.

I don't think he's anywhere near his ceiling.

So we're thinking what, 6'5" next season like Peyton Manning? Hell yeah!

One stat that has been absolutely huge for Love and the Packers, Love started every single game this year.  There were a hell of a lot of QBs that were unable to stay healthy for a grueling 17 game schedule this year.  It was huge for his development not to really miss any time this year.

Kudos to solid protection from the O-Line, Love for taking care of himself and getting the ball out quickly in most cases, and thank you lady luck.  Because make no mistake, sometimes you just have to get a little bit lucky to make it through a season completely healthy in a game where all sorts of weird things happen.

Was more than happy there were no designed runs last game. Almost a blessing he fumbled against CHI on that RPO if it keeps any of that nonsense off the call sheet. One of the shows today was calling for designed runs against the 49ers this week as an added dimension. Hurts is looking like a demolition derby car with the way they use him. It's the playoffs so if we need a 1st down and the play is dead in the water sell out for it (like that CHI RPO), but the designed stuff? Pass hard. There's weapons up and down the lineup. The most important thing for his development and the team's success is his health. Don't need the kid proving his toughness out there. Those hits will come when there's a got to have it pass in the face of a pass rush, don't scheme them into the game plan.

With all the talk of this being the youngest team to make the playoffs and win a game in the playoffs, it's easy to forget what CIN did with a 2nd year QB and  #1 and #2 WR just a couple years ago. - nearly winning SB LVI  They had vets at other positions on O but it's still as close a comp as you'll find.

Actually it looked like Favre.

Good point on Favre. Except that Favre would be likely to attempt that pass from his own end zone on 1st and 10.

Seems the best thread for this. Good article after Mr. Christian's tweet.

I hope that attitude never goes away. I get the idea these guys push each other in practice, demand good things from each other, and support everyone. Seeing the success of a different guy as your own success is a cool way of looking at it rather than supporting other guys for "the team."

I'm not on the "it's all house money" train anymore.  It's hard to win a SB and we don't know where this team will be the next several years.  I think part of the offense's success has to do with there being little tape on how it works with all the new faces.  D's haven't identified tendencies because everything and nearly everyone is so new.

Empty the tank vs. SF.  Throw everything we got at them because this may be the best shot this team has.  If this is really "like 2010", how many SB did we get back to afterwards?

The Ringer keeps an updated list and currently has him as the 11th best active QB in the NFL.

Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Prescott, Stafford, Trevor Lawrence, Kyler Murray, Geno Smith, Jalen Hurts, CJ Stroud are ranked above him.

I'm not sure he's going to play like this for years consistently, but I have gone from thinking he'd be a better-than-average guy you can win with to thinking he can be a guy that can drag you to wins against better opponents. We'll see against the Niners, but he's arrived as a guy you have to at least consider as a Pro Bowler right now.

The whole sequence on that third touchdown against the Cowboys was an eye opener. He controlled the cadence to get the Cowboys to show blitz, changed the play, and then threw over onrushing guys in a zero blitz to hit Doubs 35 yards downfield over a guy trailing in coverage. It reminded me of the Favre to Rison play in the Super Bowl in terms of reading coverages, but this was a much harder throw.

The last TD throw into the end zone sidearm across his body looked like Mahomes.

He's still less than 3 months removed from throwing bad interceptions in games against the Raiders, but holy crap has he been good the last 2 months.

I have a feeling this unexpected playoff run is over on Saturday night. I see this as equivalent to the 1995 stretch where they went out to SF and beat a very good SF team in an upset in the game that kind of announced they had arrived as a future force and then lost to the Cowboys the next week. The Cowboys were at their 1990s peak and were just too good. The Packers lost 37-28 and even led in the 2nd half at one point, but I always felt the Cowboys were going to win that game watching it live. I think that's what this SF game will be like. The chance they have is that Brock Purdy is not Troy Aikman.

What’s he is doing is not a fluke. He has solved his accuracy issues and is dealing with anything teams have thrown at him. Pressure doesn’t bother him either.

Sometimes the stats lie. The QB dinks and dunks and the receivers break a couple of tackles and take it for big gains. That’s not the case here. He is making completions down the field in the face of pressure.

I posted Dave Wanstedt's picks before last weekend's games so I'll follow up here.  Like I said, he doesn't do well with picks and he stayed true to form.

But he is one sour puss when it comes to Jordan Love.  The hosts brought him up and Wanstedt kind of (sounded like) rolled his eyes about all the Love hype after the game and insisted the offense is humming because of 33.  He's not completely wrong but he made it sound like Love's contribution was not all that exceptional and that it was more the DAL D just playing the wrong schemes.

Since they're playing the #1 team.....are they fighting Mr. Sandman or Bald Bull now???🤔

If they win THEN they face Piston Hurricane? (Tampa or Detroit)

Ok I'm calling it Bald Bull 🐂 for Saturday Night 😁

And here’s the thing with Love. If you watch the all 22 you can see he is still missing opportunities. He did so against Dallas too. Even on downs where he made huge plays. He’s only going to get better.

We're fortunate to be extremely healthy right now. It's rare for an offensive line to have all 5 preferred starters (I can't count 69 at this point). Heck we have a platoon of 7 right now that I'm pretty sure are starting caliber for the majority of the league. It's almost silly watching all the attention about QB success in GB while all of it just glosses over 30 years of continued investment in the offensive line. Our low points are usually weak at one spot on the line or being decimated by injury. There's teams rolling out garbage up front and wondering why they can't ever find success.

I think when we prioritize QB production we also prioritize Oline in the draft. I have a sneaking suspicion there's been plenty of promising skill position or defensive talent that was never brought into the program over the years and the tie breaker was always filling the Oline room with the best available talent in any round of the draft.

Part of the reason this year's draft was filling up the weapons is the offensive line room was filled to the brim from to to bottom with potential. Seeing what 10's ceiling is should continue that tradition. There's a generational pride and standard of that position group that stretches all the way back to the 90's. It's the engine that allowed almost all of the 4 and 12 seasons to remain competitive.

Bulaga did a walk through of the entire room on the Homer Hour tonight

I can't agree more about the importance of the OL and how well it has come around the last half of the season.  They've made almost as big a turnaround as Love, and it's no coincidence since they are directly related.

But boy, if Tom and Walker hadn't turned out we'd be in a real mess right now.  And we thought we were early in the season.  I know, candy and nuts.  But I remember a lot of wailing about the OL in October and how we probably needed two new starters to be drafted this spring, most importantly a LT, not even mentioning C.  Even if only Walker struggles, that side gets really vulnerable with timeshare LT's and shuffling the whole unit.  A big part of the struggles in the last two playoffs GB had to do with injuries on the OL.

It's another offensive unit along with WR, TE and QB that feels like it was snatched from the jaws of failure around thanksgiving.  And really at the hands of two second year players.  Gute has a magic fucking wand right now.
