Can Williams throw strikes?
I don't even know why Williams is in this game. Counsell having a bad night.
Did Craig Counsell just go into the dugout to call Stearns and tell him he's on his way to New York?

Agree. Need the save tommorow.

No. And the D-Backs don't have a guy like Adames to bail him out by swinging at things 4 feet out of the strike zone.
@PackerRick posted:Yelich looked like he was practicing his pitching wedge with that swing.
He could be on the golf course by Thursday.
What a dumb move by the D-Backs. Why would you run in that situation?

Probably already has a twilight tee time.
Williams trying to make sure he's unavaiable for tomorrow's game?

It made no sense to put him in this game for that reason. He might not finish the inning. 26 pitches and counting.
Unbelievable.
Why bother to take Williams out at this point? So you can use up another pitcher that you may need tomorrow?
It was only a matter of time before that happened.
A calamitous series of events.
Well, the bite at the apple isn't looking really promising this year.
Burnes and Williams give up 6 runs.
I'm surprised that Counsell didn't activate Chafin as well. That would have made as much sense as activating Winker.
Any bets on a 1-2-3 bottom half of the 9th?
Why does Craig Counsell morph into MLF in the post-season? Players with dumb mental mistakes. His players play very tight. He makes idiotic personnel decisions.
How in the world do you activate Jesse Winker? It just boggles the bind
There's 1.
I just have the feeling that Peralta is going to get lit up in the first inning tomorrow.
There's 2.
@mrtundra posted:There's 1.
THere's 2. Santana wanted to make sure he made it to a late dinner reservation. Trying to hit a 3 run HR on the first pitch with no baserunners on.

They may not score again this series.
Canha hit by pitch.
So why do people follow this sport anymore?
Canha steals 2nd. Frelick flies out. Wow.
Burnes and Williams with choke jobs.
The Brewers offense just reverted to form after the Taylor home run.

Now that the Bucks and Packers have won titles in my lifetime, we have to have something as Wisconsin sports fans to suffer through.
Looks pretty grim. Woodie can't pitch tomorrow, Williams is used up, and Gallen is up next.

Because my ass still looks good in baseball pants.
Really disappointing.
Hey Corbin, next time you're up for arbitration, and feeling "disrespected" by the team not giving you the money you want, remember tonight. We needed you to be an ace tonight, and you couldn't get past 4 innings, giving up 3 home runs along the way.
Peralta has to go tomorrow. Tomorrow is, unbelievably, a must win with no Woodruff.

I think your wife still says that because she has to.
Too bad they only play 162 games. I think it would be more fitting to play 200+, make the wild card, and lose two straight games.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
You have to win two games anyway, and Miley isn't a terrible option

Well, they have to score at least 2 runs

Burnes will still be cashing his 150 million dollars worth of checks on his extension somewhere.
I think fans are sometimes guilty of thinking that all the players take these losses as hard as we do. I'm sure some do, but I'd bet a lot of them go drive back to their 10,000 square foot mansions in their sports cars without a lot of disappointment.
Wait, that's not the case for the Brewers since most of their players make peanuts - the Brewers only have 6 guys that they pay more than 5 million a year to and they were all hurt, inactive, terrible, or made boneheaded plays tonight (Burnes, Woodruff, Yelich, Winker, Tellez, and Adames). That's 61 million for those 6 guys and about 55 million for the other 20.

Wife?
The guys in the Pride rec league think Iβm a tease.π
@Pikes Peak posted:Well, they have to score at least 2 runs
The Brewers have now scored 11 runs in their 6 playoff games in the 2020s. They might need extra innings to get 2 runs in a game.

Tonightβs forecast: Dark.
It took Burnes and Williams 123 pitches to get 14 outs while giving up all 6 runs tonight. Kudos to the rest of the bullpen that threw tonight - they kept them in the game.
