So Nathaniel Hackett doesn't call plays in Green Bay and they flame out two years in a row in the playoffs because they can't adjust their game plan mid-game? Does this mean MLF sucks that bad? If Hackett would have been in charge in would have been different?

I bring this up because Bienemy can't get a head job anywhere (so far) and the excuse is that he doesn't call the plays in Kansas City.

If Rodgers goes to Denver this was in the works a long time. There was obviously a lot of smoke about Denver on draft day last year. Maybe that's what all of last offseason really was. Rodgers wanted to go there and thought it was a done deal before the draft. Then it didn't happen and the news of his anger at the Packers FO was leaked right before the draft in a desperation move to get the deal done.

Once it didn't happen, Rodgers essentially does a soft holdout and the Packers tell him he's either playing for them or no one in 2021. He caves and comes back, but he knows he's just biding time for the 2022 move. He plays this season like he's a college guy that knows it's his last year before moving on.

You mention assistant coaches going there, but if Rodgers ends up there, how many players (besides Adams) end up there as well? Tonyan, MVS, Cobb, etc.? Hackett will probably raid some of those guys anyway for the familiarity with the offense.

Since we're into fan fiction these days...Saturday night AR was throwing like he was terrified of an INT.  Of course he's always careful in that regard but it looked like he overcorrected so much that it stunted any opportunities for bigger plays.  If he already had it in his head that it could be his last game and knowing how Favre's last game went in GB, in the cold... I wonder if he was scared shirtless of ending that way himself.

There's more to the Bienemy story that has nothing to do with his playcalling or not. And I'll leave it at that.

I don't think Hackett going to Denver has any bearing on Rodgers. He's not going to a rebuild team and even more so is not going to an AFC team that has the following schedule (or any AFC team probably):

Chiefsx2

Chargersx2

Raidersx2

Rams

Titans

Seahawks

Ravens

Denver is not making the Playoffs next year, or the year after that, regardless if Rodgers is there.

If this is the case, and I suspect it is, I wonder who he is going to have as his Special Teams Co-ordinator? Certainly won't be taking Drayton with him. So LaFleur better extract this information from him fast and get Hackett's choice signed up first!

Mayo is a going to make Drayton Asst. HC just like Moss was under McVince.

Yeah, but I think Rodgers isn't really playing the way MLF wants him to, especially in the postseason. I can't see a guy like MLF, who schemes different guys open, wanting to force the ball to Adams as much as Rodgers tries to. As the season went on, Rodgers seemed to look for Adams more and more without considering his other receivers.

Against SF, Rodgers got tunnel vision for 17 and 33. Evidence? Adams had 11 targets, Jones 10, Dafney 2, Lazard 1 Deguara 1, Cobb 1, Lewis 1. If Rodgers is basically going to ignore five guys and only target two, so will the defense.

That was the prevailing thought around the NFL as to why they drafted Love.... and why MLF looked so happy that night. I know what MLF says about his respect and admiration of AR, but it must be difficult for him to reconcile those thoughts when he watches that last throw on tape. AR is an amazing talent who can change plays, go "off script" (and then of course talk about it), make throws that few can make....but when you hear Andy Herman, who reviews every play, say that he is 100% certain that the design of the play called for Lazard to be the primary target, and when he asked MLF this , Lafleur declined to answer (which pretty much confirmed Herman's assertion),  you have to wonder what MLF really thinks.

The concern around Hackett has to be his resume as an OC.  He was not good in Jacksonville, really just running an offense that was along for the ride with a great defense.  And maybe Bortles never had a shot but he failed to develop him.  I read his offense ranked 31st in his three years there (was fired during his third season).  Then works in Green Bay with Rodgers the last 3 years where he already had an established HOF QB and doesn't call plays.

None of this means he can't succeed as a head coach but it poses a lot more questions than answers.

I'm sure he wants Rodgers back since if he's healthy he basically guarantees them a playoff spot, but deep down what MLF really thinks depends on how Jordan Love has looked at practice. They've seen thousands of practice reps and spent hundreds of hours with him in meeting rooms.

If Love is going to an above-average QB then deep down MLF may privately support trading AR for a bundle of picks and moving on. I think everyone agrees that will make the Packers a much better team by 2024 or 2025 (and maybe 2023).

If Love is not going to be the answer and they are going to spend the next 3 years trying to find another QB, then MLF knows he has to hang onto Rodgers until he hits Big Ben 2021 level decline. If after two years in MLF's system full-time, Love is the next coming of Brett Hundley when he starts playing this year and leads them to about 15-20 wins over the next 3 years, MLF's stock around the league will plummet. If that happens, MLF won't be around Green Bay by about 2025.

One question would be whether Eric Bienemy interviews that poorly. It looks like you are from Colorado where he was a college player and eventually a coach. If Hackett can get a job based on what he's done, why can't Bienemy even get an interview?

That may be one reason why they haven't lost a game when Adams is out.

If I’m not mistaken I think the hang up with EB is his history of making poor life choices… unless I’m thinking of someone else.

He had a history of some issues (mostly minor depending on your views - traffic violations, public urination, arguing with a firefighter while his mother's garage was burning, etc.) but almost all occurred before 1993.

He got a DWI in 2001. Nothing since.

Maybe things have kept happening but it hasn't been reported.

Given some of the things teams overlook in other coaches or players, it seems pretty minor and he's stayed out of any trouble for over 20 years.

Both MLF and AR puckered up after the fumble.  Both so afraid of making a mistake that it prevented them from finding success.

I agree they played not to lose after they got the lead, but it would worked for any other team had they had competent special teams play.

Given the weather and the fact they were facing Jimmy G, the only way the Niners were going to win was if the Packers gave away the game by making mistakes. They were making sure it didn't happen on offense.
