Hey MM, Thanks for the Super Bowl but after that you can GFY! You "highly successful football coach" - go back to taking toll money.
I'm getting more pissed by the day as this bullshit comes out. Complete effing waste.
Don't want to say that I told you so, but I told you so.
McCarthy, Philbin, Bennett, Zook, Slocum, Moss, Capers, these were the Packers COORDINATORS/ASSISTANT HEAD COACHES over the last several seasons and not one of them will be in such a position with another NFL team in 2019.
"Complacent" is about the nicest word one could use to describe what was taking place in Green Bay.
Wilde's theory is that moving on from Whitt and Campen is possibly related to the complacency Murphy said he saw in the team. Think attempting to remove the stench of Pittsburgh Macho from the building completely may ultimately prove to be the correct move.
2019 will be either a rebirth or another train wreck.
excalibur posted:2019 will be either a rebirth or another train wreck.
At least the train will be different!
I wouldn't have minded Philbin staying on as O-Line/Associate Head Coach with Campen's departure, but we'll see who LaFleur finds to fill the job.

So what you're saying is you were aware of the specifics about the internal problems with this organization, which Boris is referencing. Okay. **** you are a miserable toad. All you are is a marathon pisser and moaner. I give you a week into training camp to throw out your whiny shit about Mayo LaFrog.

they'll either make the playoffs or they won't
MLF probably wants young assistant on the offense. He looks at Campen as probably a fossil regardless of how well he coached. Same is probably true of Monchen. Although losing out on Monchen is probably not a bad thing. If the team has any offensive success this year Monchen would probably be getting a head coaching gig next year.
excalibur posted:2019 will be either a rebirth or another train wreck.
I would lean on the side of rebirth. It may take a little bit for Gute to fix the roster (which I think is the true problem) but I see things going in the right direction.

More than likely will fall into the huge area between the two.

βKyle Shanahan and those guys were in Atlanta [where LaFleur was QBs coach in 2015 and β16 under Shanahan as OC], we played them a few times and really struggled with them, really struggled with their scheme and how they did things. I always really liked the way they attacked us and the way they called the game.β
Thanks for our new coach Compers!
I hope LeGuteau also noticed what ATL had done with their roster in 16'. And the stark difference in speed between the two teams.

This is crazy. 1) MM didn't let Woodson go, the GM did and I don't remember anyone here saying it was a terrible move. Woodson's time in GB had just come to an end, it's not like he went on to have All Pro years in Oakland. 2) They certainly didn't let him go because he "wanted Dom gone", as if Woodson made a power play to fire the GM. He was released because his play didn't match his salary level, which again, everyone was on board with at the time. He criticized playcalling and has since said the scheme was over complicated, that's a looooong way from "wanting Dom gone". 3) Woodson also acknowledges that Whitt's position group struggled with a lack of talent and acknowledges overall the defense struggled with injuries.
The problem was confidence in MM. When things were going well (2009-2014) the message was fine. When Rodgers got hurt and it was clear Rodgers was more critical than anyone expected, the lack of confidence in MM became rooted. MM and TT didn't adjust at all after that season and things slowly fell apart from there until they fell off a cliff in 2017 and there was no salvaging 2018 because Rodgers finally lost confidence.
Seems a lot of extra outrage being manufactured based on party gossip and circumstantial reports of personnel moves. None of us know exactly what happened. All we know is MM failed to succeed for several years, and enough to get replaced.

I know it is no comparison but I have been to meetings where you plan a presentation and you end up not even giving a presentation. You get to talking and things go so well you skip that part of it.
All I care about is that Gute and LeFleur have a good working relationship and they work together to fix this team and I honestly think they will. You have a young aggressive GM and a young aggressive coach and good things are going to happen.
Iβve been on a lot of dates like that.

There was plenty of blame to go around. The Woodson/Jennings/etc. sniping going on is all extraneous.
2009-2016 should have yielded another 1-2 Super Bowl wins. Everything worked well enough (at least with Aaron Rodgers) to make the playoffs every year and have a chance. After that, TT's drafts and acquisitions had fallen off the cliff so badly that it didn't take much for it to collapse.
TT failed to add enough talent to keep that going and really optimize their chances. Too many failures on personnel at ILB. The failure to better use free agency to add guys to get them over the hump during that period was the biggest problem (other than Julius Peppers).
MM developed a culture that valued continuity and loyalty. That was good for stability, but created a culture that didn't produce enough accountability to prevent Kaepernik from running the same play a dozen times to beat them in a playoff game or prevent Bostick from free lancing on the onside kick. It didn't allow them to move on from AJ Hawk early enough. They valued trying to win 10 games each year for a long time, rather than taking some chances and adding difference making personnel that might have won them 13 games a year (at the risk of running into salary cap trouble and cutting the 10 win type run by a year or two).
Seriously in the mix for the #Packers offensive coordinator job, Todd Monken wasn't offered in Green Bay. He had previously interviewed to be the head coach at 1265 Lombardi Ave.

Munchak to Denver as OL coach...F...
Darren Rizzi is headed to Green Bay to meet with Matt LaFleur about the #Packersβ special teams coordinator job, source said. The #Dolphins still want to retain Rizzi, one of the respected coaches in the field, but theyβve given him permission to explore options.
β Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 14, 2019
Rizzi is by far the best special teams coach on the market and it would be a coup if LaFleur were able to land him. He was associate head coach under Adam Gase and could help #Packers with game management. There's lots of competition, but this is believed to be his first visit.
