Come to think of it, the Hail Mary was not that unlike a gunner going down to cover a punt. One difference is on punt coverage the gunner has to give the returner space, not so on the Hail Mary.

I still remember a x4 post of a route Adams ran.  I think it was the best route I ever saw.  He thoroughly undressed the db.

I'm sure that video is somewhere around here.  Thing is, he showed more ability as an NFL WR as a rookie than JJ has shown in his career to date.

Sloppy analysis. So we can't discount Janis's two big fluke catches, but we can discount an entire games worth of production? Actually two games if you count the really good game he had against New England earlier that year. Follow your own rules.

Perhaps they simply need to allow Janis to get really good at a smaller list of patterns. Overwhelming him might be stunting his growth.

Let him run the Hail Mary route every time. Don't bother him with crap like slants and posts, and perish the thought of having him run comebacks.  That's just bad coaching.

If he's doing it then more power to him. That's great news for GB if we can have another big/fast WR who knows what he's supposed to do. Also there was this though...

I prolly wouldn't trust a guy with a ginger dog...it looks like biased reporting.

Dougherty reported it much different.

Lots of misinformation out there nowadays.

Just like these polls that over sample Democrats +9%...nobody sees the Yuuuuuge landslide coming. Bigly.

It gets old always being in front of the curve...it's frustrating that everyone else is so slow on the uptake around here.

@oldschool

You're kidding with this politically motivated post.

I just let you back in here like a week ago.

You didn't even make it to the first pre-season game.

So please tell me why I even bother?

Looks like an injury settlement coming. Brett Goode will likely get signed sooner than later.

Hours after signing with the Packers, long-snapper Jesse Schmitt breaks his hand on his first play at practice.

Brett didn't retire. Goode wants to continue playing, had a "clean" ACL tear and rehabbed in GB all off season. While Lovato hasn't had clear gaffes, the rumor was Schmitt was brought in because GB didn't think Lovato was as consistent as Goode was in his time here. Apparently Goode is ready to go and wants to keep playing.

Goode would like to return to Green Bay as well. There is an inherent level of comfort with the Packers, the only team he's ever played for, and Goode believes he has several years left in the tank at age 31.

"There were no burned bridges there," Goode said. "The communication and everything was all fine.

Packers are obviously trying to move on from Brett Goode, but you know what Steinbeck said about the best laid plans...

Speaking of the great white hype:

Along with being great on special teams, the speedy 24-year-old has the potential to be a useful niche player on offense. Instead of asking him to run a precise route on second and 7, get the ball in his hands on reverses and bubble screens. That’s what he does best, and that’s what he should’ve been doing last season

The question is do you create a roster spot for a kid to run reverses (which Cobb and Monty already do) and quick slants? A ST's spot I could see if he's that valuable at gunner. But I can't see TT putting him on the 53 after teams figure out after about a week that anytime he's on the field, it's going to be a reverse or a little inside slant pass/screen. The only 2 things he can do at WR.

It's well known MM wants his WR's to be able to play and be competent with at least 4 different routes/positions. Minus the gimmick reverse, Janis can do 1.

Interesting about Lovato, hadn't heard that about his inconsistency. There's no reason why a long snapper should be inconsistent, he has 1 job. Goode was a really good player, but they're going to be looking for a new guy for the long term anyway. Might as well just find the guy now. Carl Bradford should be honing his Long Snapping skills now, guy would be an animal covering punts.
