GD do not disagree and it will be interesting what GB does - I just fear the 3rd best corner or PRusher will be a letdown and I can see an ILB (if the right guy is there) do but as packfoo said Zeus Jr is likely to zoom up the board after he goes to the combine and will be long out of GB's reach. No right answer at this point and I guess we will have to wait till the UW Olys to get a clue!
Murphy and Spriggs were both good college LTs, but had different knocks.
Spriggs was lean and athletic, and could get sloppy in his technique as well as bull rushed.
Murphy was smart and experienced but lacked the natural quickness to be a regular NFL Left Tackle, likely necessitating a move to RT, possibly even inside.
With Philbin back in the mix I'd venture they'll be slotted in as the backups next season as he has a go with them also.
Imagine a starting DL of Kenny Clark, Vita Vea and Mike Daniels with Dean Lowry the rotational end. That's an athletic nightmare!
Now wash that away. I doubt DL will be an early pick as I'm guessing Gutekunst had some say in the Montravious Worthy selection. Maybe Adams will come around, but he didn't instill any confidence last year. I'm guessing they don't see him as a Harell/Worthy/Thornton just yet, though.
Vita Vea is a scary dude I saw him play weekly up here in Wa. The pre-draft process is a lot like seeing the dessert cart roll bye there is something to like in every category but (unless you are Cleveland) you only get one!

Take it fwiw, but in an interview I heard with Trogovac, Monty Adams injury really set him back for a few reasons. For one, apparently Adams never dealt with a serious injury before so he struggled with how to handle his rehab and was doing too much too soon, leading to more set backs. For two, per Trogovac, how he practiced and how he played were two different versions. In practice, he was instinctual, seeing things develop and did well. On Sundays, he was over thinking, not relying on his instincts and slow to react.
Bottom line, Trogovac said this kid should be fine but he's got to trust himself and going into 2018 healthy will make a huge difference.
Let's hope so. I think Pettine's energy will be good for him too.

Yeah it will definitely be a good test for Gut. I would expect him to be pretty aggressive right out of the gate, but I think we will see a shift in the style of player we look at. It sounds like there was a major disconnect between the FO and the coaching staff (Murphy's "silo" comments), so I think Gut will be better about getting the kind of players McCarthy and Pettine WANT. I doubt they will get their full wishlist filled, but I think don't think Gut will give Pettine players that don't fit his scheme. We'll see though, it's exciting times.

Was Martellus Bennett a problem in the locker room?
Was he an asshole after Rodgers got injured?
Don't know if MB was a locker room problem. His deal was not a cap issue, and did not seem to ruffle feathers from a pecking order perspective.
It seems obvious that AR's health impacted MB's motivation.
Bahk was a holding machine in his early years. If not for those holds, he would have been giving up a lot of hits to #12. Lets not pretend like he was anything close to what he is today from the get go.
4th rounders should be able to play like top 10 picks right from the start.
your capacity to capture just exactly what everyone was thinking is truly astounding.
Iβve developed an early crush on Orlando Brown. Looks like he could be a long term answer at RT. I think 14 is too early to take him. Although Itβs not a deep draft for T.
I have to agree with the majority here that GB needs to stay at 14 and pick the player they have the highest grade on. Regardless of position. Need talent more than reaching for a T.
It does look like there is potentially a lot of value to be had with guards between rounds 2-5. Starting with the two Boris mentioned.

No one said he was the #1 LT in the NFL right out of the gate. He was good though, gave up 39 total pressures that year, most of which were from bull rushes. For reference he gave up 20 pressures in 2016 and was the leagues top rated pass blocking LT. He started pretty strong out of the gate for a rookie 4th rounder.
Just heard an interview on NFL radio with Marcus Davenport......classy, humble & articulate. I'd love to have him as a Packer
Four Fingers Fumagalli would look good in Green & Gold.

14. Green Bay (7-9) β Harold Landry, OLB, Boston College, Sr.
The Packers will likely draft multiple edge rushers this time around. Landry plays defensive end for the Eagles, but is athletic enough to stand up and play outside linebacker in the NFL. Like Chubb, heβs capable of being an elite pass rusher and effective run defender, but will likely be had at a discount on draft day. Top needs: Edge, OL, TE
Why is it we always seem to "get a guy who played this way, but we can probably get him to play this way". I don't mind moving a guy down the chain (corner to safety, tackle to gaurd), but I can't say this has worked great for GB.
I don't really mind Landry though.
The only Landry I'm thinking about is "Jarvis"
Maybe he can talk Raji into coming back.
I'd really prefer they take Davenport over Landry, if that's the choice and position. My preference, right now, assuming they get a third-round compensatory pick, would be something like:
1. Roquon Smith ILB
2. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo OLB
3a. Jaleel Scott WR
3b. Michael Joseph CB
Of course if Saquon Barkley would be sitting there at #14 I could be down with that also.
Garret Dooley lining up inside and out, the South is doubling him and rolling blocking to him on the edge thus far.
Marcus Davenport with a nice sack early. He's raw but extremely talented.
DJ Chalk looks good with a real QB throwing to him.
If you look at the NYJ while Pettine was there, it seems like ILB and CB were the key positions. They didnβt have star OLBs that racked up sacks, the front 4/5 all had less than 10 sacks each, but were all strong run defenders and did their job...Scott and Harris were kept clean by the DL. Wouldnβt be surprised if thatβs where the emphasis is. We need a lock down #1 CB and a Star ILB next to Mart.
I dunno, but that Davenport sure was a one man wrecking crew today...
Did Fumagali play? I watched a lot of the Senior Bowl but don't recall seeing him.
pkr_north posted:I dunno, but that Davenport sure was a one man wrecking crew today...
He was reportedly a bit up & down in practice. What I saw he looks really talented but just as raw. I don't think he's a Day 1 starter, but he's a situational rusher from the get-go. He's a bigger, not quite as explosive Bruce Irvin with an outside shot at becoming a middle-income Julius Peppers.
-As I suspected DJ Chark was electric with a real QB throwing him the ball. I just hope he doesn't rise too far past where GB drafts is any other round but 1. James Washington was very smooth and I heard a lot of comparison's to Gregg Jennings during the practices but I suspect he will be gone round 1
Marcus Davenport looked the part so maybe it wasn't just beating tackles at Home Depot Tech. Scouts have been all over this guy since Oct and Tampa bay looks like his destination.
I suspected that Wynn would look magical at guard because he played LT quite well for GA but Hernandez looked like Josh Sitton in his second year (2009). He was powerful and really moved guys off the line. He will obviously be gone before GB would pick him but he looked excellent!
I am just hoping al the QB's are taken in Rd 1 giving GB a chance to find a couple of position players
I think Chark will be there in the second round when we pick, and that's when TT liked to draft his WRs. We'll see if the new sheriff subscribes to that.

Truthfully, no one knows what a player will be until they get in the league. Teams have spent first round picks on Manziel, Tebow, Leinart and Brady Quinn. Josh Allen can be no worse.

Packfoo; Not just QB's the draft is like buying tomato plants when they are six inches tall and have 3 flowers on them and trying to predict how many tomatoes will be harvested; of course just like prospective players the more flowers (or athletic skills, or intangibles) the greater chance you've picked a winner. I still remember the Joe Don Looney draft of 1964, so you just never know!
Chark and Michael Gallup were guys that stuck out to me as "Packers" receivers at the Senior Bowl. Both about 6'1", good after the catch and getting separation but without that "wow" trait of amazing height or ridiculous speed that most first-round receivers usually have.
Whoever it is needs to be able to get deep and work the boundary. Jordy ain't Jordy no more.
There are a lot of decent WRs in this draft. I'd put Sutton at the top of the list, then Chark, Gallup, Pettis...... We need to pick a WR this draft just due to the uncertainty of who will be around at that position for the Packers as they figure out what to do with Jordy and Cobb. Rodgers needs fast, dependable targets.
