That was a sobering list. More reason to believe 2019 will be better than 2018.
Derwin James, Safety, Florida State, is visiting the Packers today. Of all the DB candidates, I feel James best fits the Packers. Even more than Minkah Fitzpatrick would. James has been compared to Charles Woodson. I don't know many Packer fans who wouldn't like that. He MAY be the BPA at 14. I'd be thrilled if the Packers selected him.

Why would we even consider a Punter in this draft? Vogel did well for the Packers last season. No need to replace him or waste a draft pick on a Punter.
Understood....I forgot about Vogel...my next mock won't have a punter...lol

To be quite honest I don't think he's getting past either the Bears or the Niners.
Whichever one selects James, the other will take Edmunds
I agree, unless the Bears do a, you know...Bears move.... we can only hope...
You mean like trading a boat load of picks to swap spots for a player they could've had anyway???
Kentavious Street (NC State DE) tore his ACL. He was one of my Day 3 favorites and I'd still be cool w/Gutekunst dropping a 7 on him with Wilkerson on board for this year.
7th or UDFA - redshirt him until 2019.
I'm all about the 2 lines this year. And the running game.
Still want a blocking TE too

Exactly! LOL....
Anyone like Taven Bryan??
Could trade down & get him

"He's starter level talent but I don't think that is going to be next year. He's out here getting by on his AA (athletic ability) but he doesn't have enough feel for the game yet. That doesn't happen overnight." -- former player and NFC team scout

Yeah, he was really rising up the draft boards. Horrific Timing for the young man
Don't sleep on this kid. 6'5" TE hat runs a 4.55 40 at 235 lbs.
By the way. He's already on the Packers.
Thanks Ted.

He caught my eye at combine. Great movement for his size. However, always suspect are players whose production does not match their physical ability.
My Mock Draft 2.0, adjusted for no punters... I promise not to inundate you with any more of these....just posting this to generate some discussion. The more you do these, the more it makes sense to have trades...with the number of picks the team has, they should be able to move around and target the players they want...with that being said, I found a few surprises in the later rounds....let me know what you think...note: I took Penny because he slipped to the 5th round...wasn't really looking for a RB.

I've seen a mock, or two, that has James going after the Packers' pick at 14.
IDK, some may like James over Fitzpatrick, a little bigger, quite a bit stronger & just as fast. Could come down to what role they are envisioned to fill in a specific scheme.

I thought Penny looked really good in the senior bowl. Would be a bit surprised if he was still there in RD5. St. Brown seems too low at RD4, Gesicki at RD3 also. Not your fault, I'd be tickled if they could get the guys you have on that list where you got them.
Bad news for #Wisconsin’s Nick Nelson, a top CB prospect: He tore his meniscus during a private workout with a team and will have it surgically repaired next week, sources say. Nelson is out 3-4 months but should be healthy for the season.

Good UDFA or 7th round choice.
I honestly don't care who we draft, just as long as they can perform at a high level on an NFL gridiron.
I said this before....
The draft is about knowing where the other 31 teams have players that YOU WANT - slotted.
Maybe this will finally be a true changing of the Guard and Gute will actually trade UP in round 1 to get someone he really wants. Shouldn't be that bad to get into top 10, and they have plenty of picks to do it.
Gonna get a very good player at #14. I expect more movement in later rounds, lot of capital with league leading 12 draft picks.
It will be interesting to see how many TE's the new GM drafts.
I just want a difference maker and am still holding out hope for Roquan Smith. I think GB will get an excellent player at 14 regardless of position though.
Smith or Fitzpatrick would be a gift
For the Taven Bryant group, I give you

I keep looking at draft projections for where Tremaine Edmunds, Roquan Smith, and Vander Esch (sp?) go. A lot of them have all gone by #14.
I kind of think if either of the above is available, the top safeties may not be and if the safeties are available, the above will all be gone.
I still want Edmunds, but most mocks have him gone.

I've had to read this sentence about 10 times, I think I now know what your are trying to say. It still doesn't make sense because Fitzpatrick is a safety, Smith is a LB.
“Smith or Fitzpatrick would be a gift”. Let’s just leave it at that.
Everybody and their mother seem to have a mock draft. Here is a list of some of the "experts" and their picks for the Packers at #14.
- Charlie Casserly - Central Florida CB Mike Hughes
- Mel Kiper - Marcus Davenport EDGE Texas-San Antonio
- Todd McShay - Josh Jackson CB Iowa
- Pete Prisco - Minkah Fitzpatrick FS Alabama
Some nice possibilities but --- it's all over the map. Every mock you look at seems to have somebody different for the Pack. Not even Gute knows who they're going to take first yet. He was trained under the White Ghost and will let the draft come to him. Will be interesting to see if he makes any moves.
I don't see Hughes going as high as 14. The other 3 are possibilities, although I think Davenport may be a reach. Harold Landry is growing on me at 14
Well, my point was that it's all over the map. But I agree on Hughes not going that high although he still looks like a very good corner. Disagree on Davenport as I think he will be special. Just don't see it with Landry, don't think he will bust but too many questions on him ... size, strength, poor against the run, poor setting the edge, difficulty disengaging, limited pass rash moves. Obviously some of those can be overcome with coaching but too many bad plays on tape.
I think Landry may be valued higher than many think:

My bad. Somehow I was thinking Derwin James where you wrote Smith. Don't know how, but that is what I did.

No doubt he's rated high by some. No doubt there are some who see concerns as well.:
Yes, holding the edge, disengaging from OT's blocks, relying only on quickness are all concerns. However when looking at his measurables, & his scouting report the one player that seems most like him when he was drafted is Clay Matthews....every combine stat is nearly identical with Landry weighing 12 more pounds than Clay did. Clay did not have nearly the scrutiny that Landry has gotten since video analysis by media (and media wannabes) is so much more prevalent, & Clay was not projected to be as high a draft choice as Landry is, but the concerns were the same.
