McGlinchey is going to be a good Pro. But he’d be more of a need pick at 14 instead of BPA. There will be better talent on the board than him. If GB really likes him and can trade down a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd rounder, fine.

Looks like the kind of OT who will be a reliable starter in the league similar to Bulaga. Probably could be a pro bowl OG, which is a consideration. Start him at RG while we still have Bul and kick him out to RT when Bul is done. Wouldn’t hate that. Not that I want GB to emulate Dallas, but there’s something to be said for the emphasis they’ve put on the OL. We have a really good group of DL, I’d like GB to be known as a team the controls the LOS on both sides of the ball.

One of the draft guys on Twitter was saying that Landry was rated higher by NFL teams than fans/draft sites believe and Fitzpatrick is rated lower.

It sounds like there was a major disconnect between the coaches and the FO in terms of player acquisition and Murphy is working to correct that. I think Pettine, at least in the short term, will get the guys he wants. Who knows if that means success, but I think finding football players is going to be emphasized over players with “potential”.

Landry was one of the best edge rushers in the FBS in 2016.

Last season he hurt his ankle early on, and although he played through it, his production suffered.

Wouldn't pitch a fit if he was the pick at 14.

Josh Norris Mock Draft has the Packers passing on Minkah Fitz and opting for Harold Landry. Love Landry's speed off the edge, but if the lines of communication between coaching staff and FO are truly open then I can't imagine the coaches would prefer more of a project in Landry over a complete player like Fitz. Fitz fills a major hole in coverage is just a dam good football player. I wouldn't be unhappy with Landry, he's an outstanding speed rusher, but that hole in the back end of the D is glaring.

I agree with Gb that Landry is something of a one trick pony ala KGB many years ago.  BTW those many years ago I prayed GB would draft him and his 12 sack senior season because I knew he would be a later pick (rnd 5).  I think that while Landry could help- his skill set and size really limit him and should he get dinged up think "Too Small Jamal" from the Sherman era.  Should GB select a pass rusher at 14 he should arrive in good health and not be soo dependent on a physical skill that could evaporate with one bum ankle!!

He's 6-foot-8 and lacks strength. Playing him at guard is only a consideration in your mind.

Who else was available after Ward?  not sold on him.  Also think they need a higher WR.  Thanks for the efforts.

Davenport was on the board....he actually went to New England at the end of the round...I doubt that will happen. Connor Williams, Landry, Vita Vea...those are the mains ones I had to choose from. The one other guy on the board there, who gets a lot of discussion, was Calvin Ridley, who went in the 2nd round to the Colts after I took Vander Esch.

And? Did I post that as a fact or just a random thought. You only show up to tell people they're stupid, it's sad and lame. Why don't you just go away.

Pretty much just you.

You're lucky I have a job and a life, or I'd be here a lot more often.

The only EDGE player I can see who might be there at 14 worthy of the pick  would have to be Davenport. I've read some really good reviews of him, some comparing him to Jadeveon Clowney, although the reviewer said that Davenport has much better technique coming out of college than Clowney did.

Come on .... Clowney was the SEC Defensive POY, the overall #1 choice in the draft. Davenport has talent but he played at Texas - San Antonio, which is a universe away from the SEC in the college football world. Davenport's week at Senior Bowl vs. upgraded talent was "uneven". Heard the kid interviewed & loved him, humble, willing to work. However, it remains to be seen just what Pettine & the Packers think of him & if they feel he is worthy of going as high as 14.

Here's the article....just food for thought, worth gossiping about. If I was an expert, I'd be working in the front office, right? Instead, I get to do mock drafts and pretend I'm an expert...lol

That really falls apart after the third round, IMO.  Gutekunst will take more than one corner, they need the bodies. Edmunds is fine as a prospect, I like him, but he's the same guy as Clinton-Dix and Jones.

Shepherd is a project and that's a little high, using their board, Isaac Yiadom and Kalen Ballage are better players in that area. With Daniels, Clark, Wilkerson, Lowry and Adams already on board unless it's a high-round stud (like Vea) it's more likely to be a late-round prospect who can get to the practice squad, if needed.

Gossett, maybe, but Dickson and Smith?  Yuck! Andre Smith is Jake Ryan-lite. A flier on Holton Hill would make more sense. I'd think Gutekunst will be looking to bring in at least three corners in the draft.

My knowledge of the later round picks is limited...plus Fanspeak doesn't let you take forever to choose, either. I'd still stay with picking Dickson, although probably not with the 1st pick in the 5th.

Aren't you guys just a little tired of seeing squib kicks from our punting game, and guys who can't nail it down inside the 20, better yet, the 10-yard line? I sure am.

Vogel definitely had a good start for a UDFA that came out of nowhere. 7th in net, 5th in FC, 4th in TB, 6th in returns, 0 blocks, 0 TDs. He needs to improve his directional punting and dropping balls inside the 20, but I thought he had a good start for a rookie UDFA. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bring in competition, but I don’t think we need to burn a draft pick on a Punter.

Of course the main issue with Fanspeak (many of the big boards being kind of garbage aside) is no trades (unless you buy the Premium version).

For example: Taking a non-corner in the first, here's a fairly common second round in the last few I've run:

35: R2P3  RB SONY MICHEL CLEVELAND BROWNS
36: R2P4 RB KERRYON JOHNSON INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
37: R2P5 LB LORENZO CARTER INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
38: R2P6 CB MIKE HUGHES TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
39: R2P7 EDGE DORANCE ARMSTRONG JR. CHICAGO BEARS
40: R2P8 RONNIE HARRISON DENVER BRONCOS
41: R2P9 CB ISAIAH OLIVER OAKLAND RAIDERS
42: R2P10 CB CARLTON DAVIS MIAMI DOLPHINS
43: R2P11 DL DARON PAYNE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
44: R2P12 RB RONALD JONES II WASHINGTON REDSKINS
45: R2P13 TE DALLAS GOEDERT GREEN BAY PACKERS

If it were falling like this I'd be shocked if Gutekunst didn't end up with that Cleveland or one of the Indy picks, maybe even the Denver pick to nab Oliver or Davis, Goedert be damned.

Adding him would make a formidable defensive front, but I don't see the team going in that direction with that pick...who knows...they might. They wouldn't invite him if they weren't interested.

Vea is the one guy I worry about being a real injury risk.  Upside is outstanding, but I can see him being an "8 games a year" kinda guy.

If we went D-line, I really like Payne

If Gute drafts a punter in the 5th, or at all,  he won't survive the year.

Dickson's a good punter....best one in the draft....

.....aaaaaand he's still a punter.  No.

Only way they should draft a punter is if it's their last 7th rounder & 12th selection overall. That's it....that's the list!

Don't think Vea will make it down to #14 but stranger things have happened.

They probably need to bring in four or five d-backs with a legitimate shot at the roster, especially hedging a Clinton-Dix move next offseason.

They also probably need two legitimate TEs, especially one who can block.

They could use two Edge guys to potentially replace Matthews and Perry next season.

They could really use an ILB who can run and play very soon.

They also need a legitimate outside WR pick.

They also could use an O-lineman who can either start right away or be a reliable backup C early on.

A young DE would help also.

That's basically Gutekunst having to hit on every pick just to fill all the holes.

That doesn't leave a pick for a punter.
