I'm not exactly in the Murphy/Spriggs corner either but who knows how the front office feels as they're a sunk cost.

They need to suck it up on the Spriggs failure.  I'd keep him as a back up for now and maybe he becomes serviceable but they have to get another legit tackle.

Isn't Spriggs' natural position OG? Let him play or back up OG and let Murphy/McCray hold down RT until we draft or get a guy in FA.

Spriggs is as natural a tackle as you can find. Tall, lean, athletic, quick feet. Too bad he sucks! Still young though. Give him time.

I would be interested to see if Spriggs could add some bulk and pull a Mike Wahle. Spriggs definitely has the athleticism and attitude to be a successful lineman, he struggles with being out on an island. He might do better in tight quarters, again if he adds some bulk.

My fear is Spriggs starts next year behind the 8 ball. If he's lucky, he will be able to participate in the OTAs and TC. If he has to start the season on PUP, it'll likely be most of another season lost, and he falls yet further behind.
However it works out in the end, his future largely depends on getting his mind right. All the tangibles in the world mean nothing if he can't overcome his fears.

Didn't the packers trade away 3 picks for Spriggs?

Thanks Ted.

Did Spielman draft Kalil 3rd of 4th overall in round one? It was so early I donโ€™t remember. I donโ€™t even think I sat down to watch before that pick was made.

But you go on ahead and question GB draft picks. Iโ€™ve got plenty of bullets in Ricks chamber and just dying to empty it.

To state the obvious, the Packers need more impact players who consistently change games especially at the skill positions.  Who are our impact players besides Rodgers?  We have guys like Adams who has had an impact but we need more.    Hopefully some young guys rise up.    Seems like TTโ€™s philosophy when drafting was quantity over quality hoping to hit some keepers by drafting a lot of players. Maybe thatโ€™s why it seems like we have a lot of decent players who occasionally flash but not a lot of great players.    It will be interesting to see how the new GM drafts and uses free agency.

Spriggs dislocated his knee cap, did no damage to his patellar tendon, and did not require surgery. He has a multiple month recovery but he's expected to be at OTA's in Spring.  All reports thus far is that he avoided major injury. I don't know why fans continue to think he blew out his knee. He did not.

Stop me if we've heard this before. Looks like, once again, the Packers need to get faster on defense.

From WalterFootball's underclassman declaration. For some reason, all this does is make me want BK to draft this guy in the 3rd round.

 J.J. Dallas, CB, Louisiana-Monroe
Height: 6-0. Weight: 198.
Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
Projected Round (2018): FA.

Load up those "Who the fook is that guy???" GIFs because we have our worst declaration yet. J.J. Dallas, whose name resembles that of a porno star, barely did anything at Louisiana-Monroe, logging a grand total of 16 tackles in 2017. People on Twitter are wishing him good luck at WalMart (seriously), so it's obvious that this was an abysmal decision.

Grade for declaring: F-

Now is the time to draft AR's eventual replacement, because there is no one on the roster who fits that bill.

AR has had a broken left collarbone, a serious calf injury, and now a more serious broken right collarbone. All in the past five seasons, and we can only hope that the most recent injury will not adversely affect his velocity or pinpoint ability. But the time is now.

...with a mid/late round pick or a trade.  You don't use a high draft pick on his replacement at this point, because the window to compete for more championships is still open.  It will probably remain open for another five years.  We need to take advantage of it.

Rodgers has also indicated that he intends to play into his 40's.  If that's the case, we would like have to trade a replacement that we draft now before his contract runs out.

But I agree, we need a backup that is better than Hundley.
