In Pauline's 3rd round - I disagree with the Packers taking Gaulden (I know he fit's their 'profile' at 6'1" but ran a 4.61 / 40) over guys like Justin Reid & Donte Jackson (4.32 / 40)

I'd rather give up the 2 inches in height for the thing you cannot teach (speed). TBH, I don't see how Donte makes it out of the 2nd round

FYI - Sam Shields was 5'11

Gaulden is a pretty instinctive player and really competes, I think he will end up being a good player. He probably won't be a "star" though.

TT didn't seem to follow the Ron Wolf model of taking a flyer on a QB every year at some point, I'm wondering if that's something Gute will change. If Lauletta is available in R5 that might be worth considering. Supposedly he's a sharp guy who has drawn Garoppolo comparisons. He's a better candidate to flip for a higher pick than Hundley was honestly. Lauletta looked sharp at the Senior Bowl.

Ok you all know I live near Columbus and I have the misfortune of watching every O$U game.  I am really on the fence about Ward I really am.  The first part of the year and many times during the year the O$U secondary got burned (and even Suckeye fans will tell you the secondary was their weakness) especially by bigger WR's and at times it wasn't pretty.

Then something changed and he all of the sudden became a stud at CB.   I think with the right coaching and motivation I think we will be very happy with him if the Packers can draft him.

Lauletta, White and Benkert intrigue me as late-round, development guys.

When I read this, I heard Reggie's voice in my head.

That was truly one of the funniest speeches I have ever heard in a sad way.  He really had no clue just how ignorant he sounded in that speech.  I think Reggie White was mostly a good guy, but he definitely wasn't up to speed in terms of how to look beyond racial stereotypes.

On Ward, I really like his play (and if you watch highlight reels you'll note that most of Ward's highlights are him contesting balls, where most other players highlights are them picking off crappy QB throws), but the kid is 5' 10'.  He's shorter than Sam Shields.  I'd worry those ball hawking skills would become moot when facing someone like Julio Jones.  The NFL isn't getting any shorter.

Ugh I know.  I was at that game and the Badgers WR's got open against O$U but he couldn't/didn't hit them.  I forgot to mention Ward's height.  The dude is not big at all and I would worry about him going up against the WR's like Julio Jones etc.

The thinking is that KK is the guy that handles the big boundary WR's (typically not that shifty) with press/man.  Ward could deal with the quicker guys.  Problem being when you play a team with 2 or more legit big men on the ends.  That and having to constantly rotate KK to wherever the biggest WR is.  I don't think MP's D likes to do that.  And I can't think of any top CB's that are 5'10.

To celebrate his 50th B-Day Green ran a 4.43 40. He's not human.

I'm not concerned about Ward and 5'10". Casey Hayward is 5'11" and a shade under 4.6 in the 40. Things are working out ok.

Can you play football? The scouts are pretty unanimous that Ward can in fact play a special brand of football. I'd love to get Smith. I'd rather have Fitzpatrick or James. But it's not a bad day if Ward is the pick at 14.
