I've been seeing Sweat cracking the top 5 lately.  A kid in our HS class was knicknamed sweat crack after he wore tight grey gym shorts one day.  But that's neither hear nor there.

Considering the Smiths' skill sets, I think Polite would make a great compliment at 44 maybe even 30.  He's all about jetwashing LT's.

I don't see a WR @ 12.  I just hope they take the best player there regardless of position.  We need blue chippers everywhere.

Sweat scares me. Bad background and I don't think the production ever matched the hype. For me it is all about on the field production and low risk off the field.

Sweat did some things but shouldn"t he have been like Allen at KY? And the KY kid didn't play with maybe the best DL player in college football Jeffrey Simmons.

And what happened at Michigan State?

No thank you.

You always take the QB or the pass rusher. Two hardest things to find. Next is CB or LT. Those are guys you never pass on.

If Josh Allen is there at 12 (he won't be) you take him. If he's there at 8 you might think long and hard about trading up to get him.

i think GB will be looking for what they say they want - Bigger and faster. They need it after 10 years of Thompson drafting guys who looked like him.

If a HoF QB is there at #12, do you pass on QB?

(I don't believe any of the QB's in this draft are that good, just an example)

All day every draft. Period.

You DO NOT jump the board for a position of need

I'm not excited by any of the QB', so I wouldn't pick em'.

I hope we draft at least 3 offensive fat boys (and an Iowa TE with our 2nd round pick because the world is not upside down and one of them falls that far).

whats awesome about yesterday's signing is that it REALLY does open up the draft board.  so drafting a TE or OL or ILB or pass rusher are all on the table now, if someone was trying to jump over us to get a player, there's no way to know now - but we are still very open for someone to trade up to our spot if one of the qb's falls and they want him.  kind of neat to me how the poker game is shaping up.

I'm fairly certain all GM's practice a hybrid approach.  I think what people are getting at on this thread after the FA bonanza yesterday is we no longer have some of the glaring needs we had just 48hrs ago.  We have mid-tier needs up and down the roster so going "true BPA" will almost by default fill one of those needs.  You could argue OL tips the scales but you don't reach for OL at 12 or 30 if there isn't a guy that fits the picks.

I'll be honest, waiting for this first pick to happen is killing me, if it is sold in a trade down, I'm not sure I can handle it (though it might just be the right thing to do)

I really like D-lineman Tillery from ND, got a wrap of being an underachiever in his first couple years, but was much more consistent this year .....a lot like Chris Jones coming out of college. Don't know if he will be valued as high as 12

I like this:

17. Giants (from Browns) — Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State: He struck a woman while in high school and pleaded no contest to simple assault but was apparently a model citizen in Starkville.

He "struck" her? He and another woman were pounding her on the ground. But he should be rewarded because he apparently didn't beat up any other women for the next 3 years? Seeing draft guys on Twitter excuse this incident because they love his talent is pretty gross. GTFOH

The nice thing about O-line is they don't need a starting LT so they don't need to grab one early. A combo of Taylor and Risner on the right side would be fun, though. Still, a Deiter/Benzscawel or Samia/Powers 3/5 combo might be cool also, though I'm guessing a Bulaga heir is still a priority as is backup LT.

I've been preaching edge, edge, edge at 12.  But there are two players that may be there at 12 that cause me to second guess that.

TJ Hockenson:  This guy has very comparable numbers to Gronkowski (2008, Arizona). Not lost on me is a lot of balls that TJ normally would have gotten went to Noah Fant.  TJ is a very good blocker, has good speed and very good hands. I've seen several highlights that show him hurdling would-be tacklers.  He should be a special football player.

Devin White:  He does it all.  He's a speedy and aggressive MLB that is all over the field and plays with his hair on fire. He appears to be a 3-down player at the next level and could be a guy that solidifies the middle of the field for years to come.

I'm not sure how Gute could pass on either of those two guys if they make it to 12.  If both are gone, GB will still have an opportunity to take a great prospect at edge or even OL (Players will be pushed down if TJ and DW are gone and QB's are taken).

We can't lose at 12.

IMHO if Devin White is there you have to take him.  I agree we need an aggressive force in the middle.  I am not sure on Burks development but if White is there I say take him and teaming him with Martinez greatly improves the middle of the defense.

I believe so DH13

How does Devin White rate compared to how predraft Roquan Smith and Edmunds rated?

I'm big on o-line, but it seems after one player who likely will already be drafted before 12, there is no BPA o-line near #12.  I'd like to see an o-line selected at 30.

This is a great post and I'm hoping Gute is thinking the same thing.

In the last mock I saw, Devin White went at #4 to the Raiders.TJ Hockenson went at #11 to Cincy. Montez Sweat went at #8 to the Lions. The Packers got Andre Dillard OT, Washington State, at #12 and Noah Fant at #30. The first three player picked were Edge Rushers Bosa, Allen and Gary. This was a Draft Network automated, one round draft.

Jets want to move down. If bosa or William is there, packers should consider moving there to get one of them. Tampa also wants to move down. May be a move there to get white. Gute has the draft capital to do it, especially with the free agent moves he made. Those are the difference makers in this draft

12 seems way too high for Dillard

It's looking like 12 will be too high for RB Josh Jacobs too.  He is still saying he is injured with the groin, so he can't really be evaluated at his pro day March 19.  He already missed the combine, so I doubt anyone is going to take a chance with a high pick.

I agree, but I've seen two mocks with him going to the Packers at #12.

50 drunks in a bar.....

Kyler Murray is still -400 to be first pick.

He's definitely going first & if it isn't the Cardinals, it's either Miami or NY Giants.

Then the Niners will take Bosa.

NFI what will happen after that.
