Maryland S Darnell Savage runs 4.37! 👀

Take him at 44, sign Earl Thomas and the speed/ball skills on the back end of our defense becomes insane. Having guys with range and ball skills at Corner and Safety allows for so much more flexibility with the front 7.

The Bad:

  • Overly aggressive at times
  • Prone to missed tackles
  • Has a tendency to lead with the shoulder rather than wrap up
  • Can get beat vertically
  • Can get caught staring into the backfield
  • Will struggle against quicker, faster receivers in the slot

I think the Packers already have this guy in Josh Jones.

Just saw a clip of Burns running drills.  I thought he was a CB or at least a LB.  Dude moves like it.  Even caught a ball in a passing D drill and had awareness at the sideline to keep his feet inbounds.  Kind of silly he's a DE.

Yeah he’s an elite athlete it seems. He came in heavier at the combine 240+, which was good because a major criticism was the fact that he was a little light. To run/move that well at a higher weight is a huge positive. Sounds like a really natural (some day game changing) edge rusher with versatility, but not a great run defender at all right now. Kind of has a Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila vibe to him IMO.

Jones lacks instincts in pass defense and any awareness of the ball’s location...he gets caught flat footed nearly every play. I think Nick Collins was guilty of these negatives as well, he took terrible angles on ball carriers and wasn’t a wrap-up tackler.

Metcalf to the Lions at #8 overall....99.9% sure.

I hope you're wrong on this. I'm sure he's not a guy we would want, but I don't want his speed in the division, especially with a relatively young defense developing a new(er) scheme.
Maybe they will take a QB?

Don't worry about it if he ends up in the NFC North.

Workout warrior 💪 guy. He's basically Willie Gault....run like the wind....catch like Treadwell (or Gault).

geez, i just noticed we are 1 spot ahead of the dolphins, our spot is gold if the qb's are still there...pile the picks.

And the Redsksins who are desperate for a QB are sitting there at #15.  Depending on how the QB draft goes the Packers could be sitting pretty and could take some offers from either one of those teams.   I am with you with moving around a little and piling up some picks.

Redskins will likely make some kind of move for QB. They could try to move up in the draft, which leaves opportunity as you say, or they could do something before the draft. Sounds like AZ could still possibly take Murray, in which case they will try to deal Rosen. I'm hearing he could fetch a 3rd. Nothing's completely settled for Foles.

Virginia S Juan Thornhill seems to be getting a lot of talk on Twitter. Tested extremely well, low 4.4's at 6'1/200 lbs with a 44" vertical. Experience at Corner and Safety, I've seen projections of him playing at either spot in the NFL. Looks like a guy who might be in play at 44 if this is the type of player they're looking for.

Daniel Jeremiah's Mock 1.0

PICK

12

Noah Fant - TE

School: Iowa | Year: Junior
The Packers give Aaron Rodgers a younger version of Jimmy Graham.

PICK

30

Erik McCoy - OL

School: Texas A&M | Year: Junior (RS)

McCoy can play all three interior positions and would be a Day 1 starter for the Packers.

I actually really like this. Both guys are plus athletes at positions of need and are experienced proven performers.

Exactly.   None of these articles mention that he caught only 26 passes last year and 39 the year before.  His body type is likely prone to muscle pulls and tears.  For sure he'd be a member of the Packer's pulled hammy club.

Matt Miller from Bleacher Report  has a new post combine mock. He has the Pack taking  Devin White @12 and Jaylon Ferguson at @30.   He has Sweat going to Detoilet @ 8 and Ferrell to the Dolphins @13.   The 2 Iowa TE go before # 20 and Adderley @31.  I might grab Adderley before Ferguson.

Yeah, that would be sweet, then go safety or edge in Round 2.

The top edge guys are all gone. That draft would suck. If it fell like that, Burns should be the pick and Ferrell would be tempting at 30. TE is too deep to take one at 12.

I'm a huge fan of the big three TE, but I want them with our second round pick.

Just doesn't seem like a good risk reward taking them at 12

Both Fant and Hockenson may be off the board by the time Gute gets to pick. The players I see dropping to #12  are players like Devin White, LB;  Jawaan Taylor, OL; Jonah Williams, OL, Clellin Ferrell, Edge and Ed Oliver, DL. There is some great talent there. I can see Irv Smith, TE being available at #30, and a guy like Isaac Nauta, TE being available in the 4th or 5th round, if Gute wants a TE since the Iowa pair are, most likely, off the boards.

With all the other D talent plus 2 QB's, I don't see any way those TE's are gone by 12.  But you don't take a TE at 12 anyway (unless futureGute drives up in his DMC and tells presentGute that one of them will be the next Gronk).

Pass rusher at #12, even if they sign a big time free agent.  I'd be ok with a TE at #30 though.  Maybe it was MM's offense but I just don't know if Rodgers likes throwing to the TE, so hate to waste a premium pick on a player that isn't going to get the ball.

That meme has started reverse-engineering itself.  I'm sure AR has no "dislike for throwing to the TE".  He did a lot of damage with Finley and openly commented on not having another TE like him until Cook came along.  He liked Cook too. But I still don't see taking one at 12.  It'd be great to get one of the Iowa kids at #30.  It's not looking good but crazier things have happened.

Let's play "worst case scenario".

The top 11 picks are Bosa, Josh Allen, Ferrell, Burns, Sweat, Q. Williams, Ed Oliver, Devin White, Jonah Williams, Jawaan Taylor, Byron Murphy which is, coincidentally, your top tier.

The phones are dead for #12, but a lot of calls are coming in for #30 from QB-needy teams in Round 2 like the Giants, Broncos and Jags.

Who do you draft, and why?

For me, I think it's Nasir Adderly. The current buzz is he, Gardner-Johnson and Thornhill could all be gone by #30. There are a number of safeties I like in this draft, but those are my top three and also fill a glaring need. I likely take the extra picks for #30, and I'll roll the dice on Polite if he truly falls well in to the second.

You don' think any QBs will go in the top 11?  Weird.
