Holy Crap!  Looks like he's been hanging out in my brother's garage.

Looks like it wasn't just the Pack

I think there's going to be a run on Edge guys at the top of the draft.  The WR with blazing speed will be there too and probably an OL or two.  We know some QB's will be taken.

The guy that might just be there for Gute to make a decision on is Devin White.

Gonna stay with my pick of a few weeks ago .....Devin White. If its him or Sweat we should be ecstatic.

Wouldn't have minded Polite if that's who the Packer brass picked....but wow, major red flags.

Metcalf to the Lions at #8 overall....99.9% sure.

I also think at a minimum, 2 QB's will be drafted before 12. If the Pack is lucky 3 QB's

Yeah, Sweat running a 4.41 (now official) is insane! At 260#-plus he not only blasted past Bruce Irvin and Von Miller's times a few years back, he was a touch faster than Odell Beckham Jr.!

I was keeping it a secret but he was the guy I wanted at #12.

Looks like that won't happen now.

Yeah, he was my #2 after Allen.  On the plus side, Brian Burns looked really fluid in drills and could be worth the spot.

Sweat’s size/athleticism is crazy, but he got bullied by a couple Tackles in this draft, Dalton Risner being one of them. If there was a candidate for “you can teach technique, but you can’t teach speed”, it’s him.

Polite is a head scratcher. Sounds like some entitlement going on, doesn’t feel he deserves to be “bashed”. Sounds like teams pushed him to find out how he handles criticism, doesn’t seem like he’s handling it well. That’s fine, I wasn’t a big fan of him at 12 anyway.

Link

“I feel like it’s all how I react, just acting like myself, my true character, not trying to be somebody else,” Polite said. “They want to know who they’re getting and then who they’re going to pay.”

He said in many of his interviews, teams aren’t pulling up highlights or asking about how he forced so many fumbles. Instead, he was asked about his character off the field and why he did or didn’t do certain things during plays on it.

As such, he understands it.

“That’s their job,” he said. “They’re trying to get my character out. They’re trying to make me feel uncomfortable. See the way I react. Them bashing me, that’s their job. They’re about to invest millions probably — I hope — in me. So I have to take it. That’s my job. This is my job.”

Not great, but not as bad when taken in context.

ya, thanks for posting that.  still like the bama ol, devin white, sweat after the combine, now we need to see greedy run a 4.25 and drool over him too.  or adderley run and kill the combine...tough decisions.

He might not in fact have issues, but if it's true he's showing up out of shape, that's not a good sign either. Bottom line is, you add it up and his draft status is going to drop.

Which can be a great thing for the team that gets him cheap and with a chip on his shoulder, right?    They can't all be first rounders.

He also beat Risner a couple of times which was pretty much unheard of this year, but yeah, he might be better standing up without a tackle in his face every down.

It sounds like Polite pinged his hamstring in the 40, which would explain his "slow" time.

Allen/Sweat/Burns at 12, Polite at 30, Jelks/Hollins/Granderson/Brailford/Sutton Smith late.

Conversely, what would you think if Gutekunst zigged while everyone else zags defensively early?

I’d a yelped a month ago, but dayum, DK has the look, don’t he.

Speaking of man crushes, Deebo Samuel is in every one of your mocks. You got something you want to tell us (or did you already and I missed it) ?

I like how you have Samuel moving up your board, Herschel.  You're almost there.

Homer alert, but the similarities with the Sterling Sharpe I watched in college and the Deebo Samuel I've watched on Friday nights and in college are crazy.

I readily admit Samuel is one of my man-crushes this year. He's a stronger version of Anthony Miller or Greg Jennings, IMO, can play in the slot, out muscling the nifty slot guys or outside with deceptive speed and good moves. He's only about 5'11" so I doubt he goes top 25 but he's a lot stronger than shifty speedsters Parris Campbell, Andy Isabella, Mecole Hardman and Marquise Brown, who will likely be the other top slot targets.

McGinn’s polling says Devin White is 1/4 who definitely won’t make it to 12.

It's Sweat or Burns at #12 for me.  Both have good tape (or so I've heard....) and backed it up with great measurables.  Polite's combine is the thing of nightmares.  Guy was supposed to be a possible top 10 pick and now he may drop out of the first.  You can get past poor times in the 40 but you can't cover up poor interviews.

And while Metcalf's size, strength and straight line speed were pretty incredible, his 3 cone and shuttle were flat out awful, as in Tom Brady's 3 cone and shuttle were faster.  You can argue that 3 cone and shuttle are actually more important than the 40.  He seems like the kind of one dimensional deep threat that you usually take in the late second or third.

Thanks CU! We have more pressing needs than to be developing another rookie WR anyway, hey.

Fricken Tarzans though. Hard not to go “Squirrell!”

Underwear olympics living up to their name for sure. Drooling all over the place.

Oh and seems like Fant and Hockenson are no longer options at #30.  Both crushed the combine.

If they’re gone, then take the highest rated Safety, OL or RB right?

RB Josh Jacobs didn’t participate. If he grades out at his pro day and he’s there, there’s your pick at 30. Boom: fresh meat and we’re set at RB.

Packers also looking at Bryce Love. His knee is scaring teams away so he could be a steal later on. He was top tier before the injury.

He's an outside receiver, not a slot. If you watch the guy he gets open runs by and through people.

Sounds like a perfect Lions selection to me!

Before the combine started all the GMs and other NFL guys, and those who cover them were saying "..... the combine is JUST ONE PIECE of the puzzle for draft preparation".  Or words to that effect.  Then when we see the numbers the players put up it becomes the whole enchilada.  I know there are pro-day workouts coming.  It would be good to tape the remarks these guys make before the combine and then play them back after the combine.  To me DK Metcalf has diva potential.  I just get a bad feeling about him.

I say pass on Polite if he can't handle being "bashed" why? because if he played for Pettine who does not care about anyone's feelings it probably wouldn't work.

After seeing the whole context Bong provided, I'm not sure he was being immature or sensitive, but his word choice of saying "bashing" is certainly poor. I can't imagine teams like being publicly called out directly like that either, another bad choice. His whole combine was not a good showing for him, but his tape is his tape and ultimately that's what teams covet. With some of the players who showed out at the combine you have to think he will be available at 44, which should be a consideration. Sign a free agent OLB starter (or two), draft a situational rusher like Polite in R2 and I think that group looks a lot stronger.

Just saw a clip of Burns running drills.  I thought he was a CB or at least a LB.  Dude moves like it.  Even caught a ball in a passing D drill and had awareness at the sideline to keep his feet inbounds.  Kind of silly he's a DE.

I'm not seeing this at all...I count 2 pressures he got on the QB, a TFL that was the result of a terrible trick play, and a sack I would charge to the QB (Risner lets Sweat run the arc and the QB scrambles wildly in the pocket). Risner ate his lunch all day. Sweat showed at the Combine he's a freak athlete and our new OLB coach seems to have a positive track record with development, so I wouldn't be disappointed to Sweat picked at 12 but man I don't see that strength/speed show up on the field. His 10 yd split was 1.50, which is great, but I don't see that kind of explosion out of his stance.

He sheds blockers too.  A lot of highlight reels have guys making plays untouched.  Not his.

This is something I always look for in highlight reels.  Its why I was so high on Alexander when we drafted him.  Most CB highlight reels show horrible QB throws and thus easy INT's or pass breakups.  Alexander's showed almost all good throws that he still broke up or picked off.
