Digger,  who is ERFA?  And don't forget Mason Crosby needs to be signed too.

There are a bunch of exclusive rights free agents that I’m guessing they will re-sign...Tonyan, Sullivan, Kumerow, Lancaster, Redmond, Lazard, and maybe Leglue. There’s a number that corresponds to each based on their years of service and I think it came out to like $4.5M if they resigned them all.

Hard to say on Crosby. Don’t think it will be an issue because 37 year kickers don’t make >$4M.

Robbie Gould is making >$4M.

There are 5 kickers that are 35+ in 2019, just 1 made >$4M. The average was $3.7M, which Crosby made $3.6M. They're not going to pay him more, they're either going to replace him or give him the same deal. He didn't do anything amazing that he's earned a big raise. He had a good year, second lowest number of attempts in his career but the highest made %, good number of touchbacks and XP's made, but he doesn't need to be paid like an elite kicker.

What makes Mason fairly irreplaceable IMO and also giving him the upper hand is where he kicks in the months of December and if GB is playing meaningful football, also include january.

Ryan Wood did a pretty good piece a year ago on what a difficult stadium Lambeau is for reasons well beyond cold temps. That stadium also has ridiculous cross winds and other factors that Longwell, Crosby, jacke, etc all nodded to as unique problems for kickers. It's gotten much more so with the stadium expansion which changes wind direction at certain areas of the field that wasn't there in the 90's and 2000's before Lambeau remodeled.. And unless you are well versed in what those are, a new kicker could easily shit the bed not knowing any of this.

Wood also made a good point about, "well, then just draft a "cold weather" kicker from college". College teams that play in northern parts of the US we might think of as a "cold" environment, really doesn't apply because none of these kickers are playing in that environment past November. By the time you get to a Bowl game, those games are being played either indoors or in warm temps. So in the vast majority of cases, you really aren't taking an experienced cold/winter weather kicker even if they come from "cold" states.

Couple all that with GB knowingly full well how a new kicker can royally screw you in a season (see double doink Bears, Tampa, NE, Queens), I just highly doubt Gutey is going to risk that even if that means he overpays a bit for Crosby. There are just some things you don't wanna risk or fuck with. And this IMO is one of them.  Especially playing critical games in December that could mean winning the division vs WC vs being bounced out of the playoffs vs higher playoff seeding.

That's a fair point. Really $4.1M and $3.7M isn't that big of a difference and ultimately the point was to say that re-signing Crosby isn't really going to affect offseason signing of UFA's that much. If they don't re-sign Crosby it's not going to be because he asked for $400K more than they think he's worth, it's because they're ready to move on or Crosby is done playing. Based on who he is as a person and the year he just had I doubt GB would rake him over the coals if he asked for more.

Schobert is a nice looking player at MLB.  I like Cory Littleton as well.

Also like Littleton but have a feeling he's gonna be in high demand - expensive.

Hoping Uncle Milty and Gute are looking at Ravens FA Michael Pierce . He would look extremely good lining up next to Kenny Clark. Maybe Milt or Zadarius gives him a call !!?? Run stuffer who can move - keep Lowry and Lancaster in sub roles.

Speaking of the Ravens connection, a more under the radar WR signing like Breshad Perriman could be a solid move. 1st round disappointment who has size and speed  - most importantly appears to be finally getting it as he really stepped up last year - might be a nice addition.

I gotta disagree. With all the crappy kickers that pop up every year in the NFL, the guys you can count on are going to get paid. The Packers (or someone) will be paying him over $4 million a year. I hope it's GB. We have been damn lucky with 3 long careers of reliable kickers. I don't want to see that turn into an adventure until it needs to be. Salaries are trending up, not down, and that will include kickers.

I've come around on Crosby. Maintained that he was a below average kicker in today's NFL but he really bounced back this year. The "it is hard to kick in Lambeau" has merit. https://nationalfootballpost.c...nd-worst-to-kick-in/  Impressive that Crosby's career home / away FG % is almost identical.

Crosby did bounce back very well from the yips he had.  I don't remember the stat exactly so if I am wrong feel free to correct me but something like 75% of NFL games end by 7 points or less.  That is why you pay a kicker if you have a good one.  Especially a guy who is used to kicking in Lambeau.

Schobert and Littleton will get big bucks.  Lots of demand for their skills and not enough supply.

I agree, this contract I have here would make him the second highest paid ILB in the NFL in terms of per year average. The guaranteed $’s and first year cap hit are proportional with how they structured Z Smith and P Smith’s contracts.

Give me a kicker whose limit is 45 yards but deadly accurate, especially outdoors when the weather is bad, over some guy that is 50/50 at best from 45+ but can hit a 65 yarder.

Mason's greatest strength is his reliability.

Not a kicker in the top 10 I'd take over Mason. Pay. The. Man.

It's the time of year for misinformation...lots of guys going in all these first-round mocks will fall, many out of the first round. Kind of amazing how much effort media types put into draft speculation.

Chongo, your picks were so cliche' and dull, I think Mike Sherman fell asleep in the middle of reading through your list.

Truth be told though, I don't know enough about any of these guys to truly mock you, so the joke's on me.  😀

I'd take it, though I'd like to see a DB in there. I'm also not sold on Reagor's hands, but at that point they'd have to take him. Taylor is my favorite mid-round back

No DL?  IMO, priorities are inside LB, WR and DL either through the draft or free agency.  D has to stop the run on a consistent basis which they didn't come close to doing this past season.

It's a no-trade simulation and some times value doesn't meet pick where one might make a trade to meet it. Don't take Jon Michaels over Tony Brackens. Some times you can get this:

While the next one ends up like this depending on which positions get runs:

If Gutey drafts 3 more WR's, that says a lot about the previous draft with 3 WR's.

I see Q. Cephus in lotsa mocks. That works for me. I think he's a lot better than most GM's/Scouts think.

I think Gutekunst may have borrowed a page from Fantasy Football drafts with Moore/Valdez-Scantling/St. Brown in knowing he wasn't spending a high pick on the position he instead spammed it with traits hoping one would emerge from that group.
