Lots of good quality RB with very good size/speed combos. There aren't any elite RB IMO, but a group of about 5-7 guys who would be difference makers for the Packers. The drop off after that is severe...there will be no Aaron Jones type guys in this draft.

Order of preference for me for the Packers...

1. Jaylen Wright, Tennessee
2. Trey Benson, Florida State
3. Isaac Guerendo, Louisville
4. Bucky Irving, Oregon
5. Will Shipley, Clemson
6. Tyrone Tracy, Purdue
7. Marshawn Lloyd, USC

After that, I just don't see anyone worth getting excited about for the Packers. Sorry Badger fans, I think Braelon Allen is Fool's Gold in this scheme. He is better suited to another team.

What about Audric Estime?

From Brugler:
Audric Estime RB6  3rd-4th round

STRENGTHS: Built like a linebacker with broad shoulders, yoked-up arms/chest and a thick lower half â€Ķ runs with effective tempo and vision to find slivers of space at the line of scrimmage â€Ķ stays square getting through downhill cuts with light feet for well-timed lateral cuts â€Ķ his rumbling and urgent acceleration ignites explosive plays (ranked No. 3 in the FBS with 14 rushes of 20-plus yards in 2023) â€Ķ steady inside run power with active leg churn â€Ķ won’t go down easily and stays afloat versus off-angled tackle attempts, because of his body strength and balance â€Ķ unsurprisingly, lives in the weight room (7 percent body fat) â€Ķ put the ball on the ground in the first quarter of the 2023 opener (and was benched), but that was his only fumble last season â€Ķ received just 26 targets i n his career — but caught all 26 (zero drops) â€Ķ NFL scouts say he is coachable with the mental and physical toughness required at the position â€Ķ a regular on kickoff-return coverages â€Ķ productive 2023 season, becoming just the fifth player in Notre Dame history to surpass 1,300 rushing yards in a season â€Ķ his 6.39 yards per carry in 2023 was No. 1 in the FBS among running backs with 200-plus carries.
WEAKNESSES: High cut and runs with hints of tightness in his hips â€Ķ full-speed cuts are more rounded than sharp â€Ķ inconsistent start/stop skills, hurting his ability to make sudden direction changes â€Ķ routes show signs of rigidity, and he needs to expand his receiving skills â€Ķ has the natural build and strength to be an asset in pass protection, but he can be caught flat-footed and needs to refine his punch timing â€Ķ made a conscious effort to improve his ball security throughout the 2023 season , but he was still guilty at times of exposing the ball â€Ķ didn’t miss game s because of injury, but his penchant for extra contact will create durability concerns.
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at Notre Dame, EstimÃĐ was the lead back in offensive coordinator Gerad Parker’s multiple -run scheme. After playing behind Kyren Williams and others as a freshman, he led the Irish in rushing each of the last two seasons (6.2 yards per c arry) and set the single-season school record with 18 rushing touchdowns in 2023. (His 29 rushing touchdowns over the last two seasons were the third most in the FBS). With his hulking physique, EstimÃĐ squares his pads to the line of scrimmage and gets downhill with the leg drive to run through contact (averaged 4.27 yards after contact in 2023, fourth best in the FBS). Unlike most runners his size, he also can run with finesse. With the run patience to set up blocks, he can either speed through gaps or downshift and sidestep defenders with lateral agility. Overall, EstimÃĐ has the build and run power of a downhill grinder but the vision and cut acceleration of a smaller back, givi ng him RB1 potential for an NFL team (best in a gap scheme). His body type, run talent and promise on passing downs are reminiscent of former Seattle Seahawks’ RB Chris Carson

The thing about Guerendo ... while he has all-pro speed and is a very intelligent kid, he was constantly hurt in his earlier years in Madison. Couldn't catch a break..I can't remember, and am too lazy to look, how long he was at UW, so maybe he played his way through the always-hurt stage of his younger years.

If Packers medical staff clears him, and they are probably the most conservative group in the league, then he will have addressed those concerns.

If not, he will not be drafted by the Packers in any round IMO.

Thanks for that info...I was not aware of his injury woes.

No thanks to Estime. There just doesn't seem to be much juice there, especially if they want some burner ability. They already have a bigger, faster version of him in Dillon. (videos are all pretty short)

Estime is maybe a slower version of:

Or smaller, slightly slower version of

Estime's top 5 plays of 2023 were against the local Electricians, Plumbers and Drywallers Apprentice Guilds.

Further, when Guerendo was at WI, there was another running back on the roster. We're all familiar with Jonathon Taylor.

Yeah I was a hard pass on Estime before his awful testing...the tape alone scared me. Dillion is WAY more athletic and his only prayer is to reinvent himself as Kyle Juszczyk. Estime is going to have a nice career in the UFL or Canaduh.

Hope at least Newman is finally gone.

We've been told this draft is big for CB and OL

It all depends on how the draft falls next Thursday - Saturday.

Stokes is interesting because....

  1. You never have enough CB's
  2. Barring injuries, a rookie beating him out would be a good thing for the defense.
  3. Competition has a way of bringing out the best in a player.

As long as Stokes is HEALTHY....he makes this team.

As for Newman..... hopefully they can replenish the depth on the OL. Protect the QB

Forget the TayTay stuff.... ROMES leg circumference?!??

Should I start a 2025 Draft thread already??

Don't really care what the RAS score was, I know what I saw on gamedays.  He has football speed for a guy his size - had the third most "explosive" runs of 20+ yards in all of college football last year and he's rarely stopped by initial contact.

@Badgeman posted:

I also hope for Gute to pick young Melton. Would be good for locker room chemistry.

Bo was a nice story last year, but he's still a bottom of the roster WR. If healthy, Watson, Doubs, Reed and Wicks would seem to be locks.  That leaves Bo, Heath, Toure and DuBose competing for what may be one spot even if no other players are added this month.  Drafting a guy then cutting his brother doesn't seem like a locker room positive.

So unless they see Bo as a clear favorite to make the roster, I'd prefer to avoid it.

Respectfully disagree. He's fast, and if he continues to improve gives us great depth at WR.

Not only did Estime improve his forty time on Thursday, he bettered it by over a tenth of a second, coming in with an official time of 4.58 seconds. Some teams had even faster on their watches, which is an excellent sign.

There's some speculation, out there, that if any GB WR doesn't make the roster, it's going to be Toure. Not sure why that is, other than it's hard for him to get on the field. Same goes for DuBose.  That being said, will Gute draft any WR this draft? If he does, when will he get to be on the field?

From The Athletic.....

So, draft season. What gives? I’m so tired.

Jacob: Each new report adds hours to the day. Drake Maye's pro day went well in one report but poorly in another. Jayden Daniels is a lock for the Commanders on Friday, but Saturday he becomes a Raiders target via a trade up to No. 3. Would I have it any other way? No. Is the speculation maddening? Yes, Chris. Yes it is.

Dianna: Tired? Chris, you don't know what exhausting truly is until you have two under two! So much has happened since the Super Bowl, yet here we are a few days from the NFL Draft and there are some still questioning if Chicago is REALLY taking Caleb Williams No. 1 overall. The rumors, the chatter, the guessing, the mocking, is all part of the NFL's brilliance in hyping and keeping fans interested. It's my favorite time of year, and my phone is constantly at 2 percent battery.

Give me your best draft smokescreens.

Dianna: The Texans last year were brilliant in fooling the world. MAJOR NFL INSIDERS (at other outlets) were making bets on live television that Houston wasn't going quarterback, that's how well they kept their little secret. What they did do was let the rest of the league believe they were picking Will Anderson. Well, they did pick Anderson, AFTER they selected C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall. Was it to keep Carolina with the No. 1 overall pick on Bryce Young? Yep. Standing ovation for Nick Caserio, the Texans general manager.

Jacob: Mac Jones to the 49ers at No. 3 back in 2021 immediately comes to mind. They traded a haul to draft Jimmy Garoppolo's replacement, and Jones had fit their system and was reported by many as the obvious favorite. Turns out it wasn't truly a smokescreen, as Kyle Shanahan's group was undecided between Jones and Trey Lance. Would they have been better off with Jones? We'll never know, but at least we get the Brock Purdy experience.

And please, just tell me what Minnesota will do.

Jacob: If the Vikings see Drake Maye fall to No. 3, I believe they'll send “a bag” of three firsts to the Patriots, including No. 11, No. 23 and a 2025 first. If the Commanders snatch Maye, J.J. McCarthy is probably the Vikings’ next target. Ideally for Minnesota, McCarthy falls to the Falcons at No. 8 and the trade gets much, much cheaper. They'll likely need to outbid the Broncos, who have just one first and no second-round picks this year.

Dianna: The Vikings went to Baton Rouge to meet with Jayden Daniels, their top QB choice, in hopes they can land him. But with Washington appearing to be locked in on selecting the LSU star, Minnesota will need to get New England to trade with them for their next best quarterback.  I predict New England stays at No. 3, but if they decide to trade out? Minnesota would need to use their pick 11, 23, and their 2025 first, just as Jacob said. The pressure is on for Minnesota's front office.

Just pray for Dianna’s phone this week, y’all.

Now you know the truth about what happened with the Texans last year. We always find out....it just takes time.
