I think if there had not been any media hype from Schefter about this and Rodgers and the team went about this issue quietly (I would argue they seemingly were planning g to), no one would give a second thought to him skipping minicamp. He didnā€™t have any off-season camp or anything last year and won MVP, does he really need it? No.

What exactly have Kuhn, Jones, and Adams said? I don't recall any actually saying Rodgers said this or that. They all shared their thoughts on how they think this will resolve. None said Rodgers wants a trade, is never playing in GB again, etc... all that BS is coming from ESPN.

Hawk, Kuhn and Jones said theyā€™ve talked to Rodgers and believe the problem is fixable. Jones even went as far to say Rodgers will be at training camp. They didnā€™t say ā€œRodgers wants me to tell everyoneā€¦ā€, but theyā€™re both essentially speaking for him in this context. Rodgers is so careful with everything he says and does, his friends donā€™t go rogue with discussing his business.

That's my point. If they are speaking on Rodger's behalf, their message is not the doom and gloom of this is the end, but more this will be resolved. That tells me Rodgers wants and plans to stay in GB, and is not demanding a trade - wanting Gutekunst or whoever fired - may sit the year - and all the other BS nat'l media suppositions that have so many in the fan base losing their shit.

Well.....according to Mike Silver....

And now for something completely different ...

Which playerā€™s performance in 2021 could make the biggest improvement to the teamā€™s performance?

Iā€™m going to say Deguara. A real Swiss Army knife kind of player. Iā€™d like to see both he and Amari Rodgers get some of the plays Tyler Ervin did last year. Discuss amongst yourselves ...

In order:

1) Tonyan - I think he'll be even better than last year and Rodgers seems to actually trust him.  He has a chance to be the best Packers TE in a long time.

2) Dillon - I liked J Will but he's not close to the caliber runner that Dillon is.  He's  a great compliment to what Jones can do.  If the OL can hold it together, this run game could be special.  I could see Jones and Dillon combining for 2,500 rushing/receiving yards.

3) Rodgers - he's a rookie so need to be careful with expectations but even 50 catches for 600 yards in the slot would be more slot production than we've had since Cobb.  He'll add something to offense they just haven't had.

No OTA's in 2011 either. That really hurt the offense.

I do think that not showing up for any camps prior to training camp would have happened regardless of hurt feelings or contract status, but I don't agree with Acho that it's only about not showing up. Aaron Rodgers could have easily just gone on Pat McAfee and said "I don't need it, my teammates know that, the coaches know that, we didn't have it last year and I won the MVP" and there would be no drama. No one, besides Greg Jennings or Skip Bayless, would have any issue with that statement.
