Rodgers is very measured with what he says, when he says it, and how he says it. I don't see that as being a wimp. I expect he will do well in business when he retires from playing a game.

He made a statement in the post NFCCG presser. He's said very little since (publicly) as there is little value to do so from a business perspective.

This, is fucking hilarious. There really was never another option for Rodgers for 2021.

Weird, it’s like all the people who know and have actually spoken to Rodgers have said it’s solvable and he will be back and all the people who stand to profit off the drama have been saying otherwise…

WOULD SOMEONE THINK OF THE POOR PLAYERS!

Jesus, quoting PFT now?

Well they’re just providing a quote, unless you’re saying that AJ Hawk also can’t be believed? Or can Rodgers not believed? Only Schefter can be believed?

You mean kind of like when they provided the quote from Murphy you found the need to criticize as coming from PFT?

Pick a lane.

Ian Rapaport is a bot.

Now, IF Rodgers does decide to show up and he does this same shit next offseason, his schtick will be ten times worse than Favres retirement talk ever was

What shit exactly has he done this offseason?

He said his future was not in his hands - beautiful mystery.

He took some trips, played some golf, got himself mentally strong, and said β€œI’m going to enjoy the hell out of this week,” Rodgers said, β€œand then I’m going to get back to working out, and figure things out in a couple weeks.”

Then he may want to think twice about being a holdout in training camp.  Other business interests aren't going to like someone who just decides not to show up when they're contractually obligated to do so.

I have to assume he's smart enough to know this and the optics of it and thus he'll show up for camp, and will probably go with some snarky "don't believe everything you hear in the media" to the media to sweep it all under the rug until after the season.

Which would mean it's more plausible that it was all a creation of the media, correct?

To me this Rodgers’ drama was not drummed up by the media. When he skipped minicamp and never communicated his intentions to skip minicamp to Packers’ management, it was a huge slap in the face to the Packers’ organization.

You’re the face of the franchise and getting paid tens of millions of dollars and you can’t communicate to your employer your intentions to skip minicamp so you could run around Hawaii with Miles Teller? That’s not media hype to me, that’s real.

I find it weird that even as a partial Milwaukee Bucks owner he isn’t coming to any home games like he used to.  Is he afraid of getting booed?  He’s behaved very weirdly this off-season and the media coverage he’s generated is his own doing, the media didn’t just come up with this stuff on their own.

Wow.  Yes, the entire thing is a complete fabrication.

Regardless of all the color commentary, it's pretty clear there's an issue between Rodgers and the dumbfucks in the FO.

The "issue" is and always has been about commitment beyond '21. The only dumbfuck in the FO is Murphy, but that's not some recent revelation. He exposed his limitations with the ill conceived $20mm offer to Favre.

Almost sounds like you're assigning some accountability to Rodgers? Pretty sure that's frowned upon on X4. I mean- he's the face of the franchise, team leader, bigger than those chumps at OTAs, and you expect him to act like a professional or something? That takes some nerve!

I actually trust Football Outsiders.

I gave P Smith a pass but that's pretty bad.  I'm chocking it up to one of those shitty seasons but considering the contract he better play like he did the first year he was here.

King, nothing to say really.  I get the feeling he'll still be the starter (if he doesn't get hurt) at the beginning of the season.  I'd be nice if Stokes progressed enough to start taking snaps away from him.

This made me laugh.

Leg injuries have largely robbed him of the speed and agility he had coming out of college, and as a big corner with no wiggle who can’t hit, he’s just one giant Achilles Heel.

Sounds like Preston's problem was conditioning, for whatever reason, but all reports thus far say he looks leaner and stronger. He's in a contract year, so he needs to show out if he hopes to get another decent payday. A bounce back from him, with his size and length, would create a really positive ripple across the front 7.

As for King, I think they nailed it saying injuries have clearly taken their toll. His athleticism and speed was good coming out, but that seems like a distant memory. They cite Breeland as a better option, but I think the fact that GB HAD Breeland at one point and chose to move on, which seems consistent for his career, tells me there's more to the story with him maybe off the field. He's entering year 8 and he's on his 4th team, I don't think that's a coincidence. I think GB will look hard at some vet CBs who get edged out in camp or maybe are cut for cap reasons. There's always someone just like Breeland, who was available for GB during the season 3 years ago. Even if they just go with King opposite Jaire, I don't think it will take Stokes long to get on the field and lock down a spot.

If P has a good year I still don't think he gets a contract from the Packers.  Partially due to cap, partially due to taking a shit in 2020 due to conditioning and finally Gary.  The front 7 is going to be interesting over the next couple of years.  There has to be some kind of influx at OLB and DT/DE and FA doesn't sound like much of an option.  At least for getting legit pass rushers/DT cloggers.

I am hoping and praying Slaton is the next Johnny Jolly because that would be a major shot in the arm for the entire front 7 and future talent additions.

I've never read about it being done, but if I was an NFL staff, I would use the first day of camp to put each player through all the combine events to gauge where they are in comparison to where they were when they came into the league. I think it would be useful to measure decreases and increases in athleticism brought about by injuries, age, and weight room work. I think it would be useful in highlighting just how far guys like Jimmy Graham fell athletically compared to when first coming into the league.
