He’s in the wrong professional sport if he thinks he can call all the shots.   If he wanted a lot more control he should have played in MLB or the NBA.

He can thank the NFLPA for that.  The players Union just chased the money in exchange for surrendering just about everything else.

In the end, he has choices but they are limited and for a guy that’s done what he’s done I’m sure that’s frustrating and annoying.   But it’s nothing new.  It’s the NFL.  Not For Long including Aaron Rodgers.

So that means he doesn't want to win a Super Bowl?  Okay.

Shut up and play isn't the reality in this day and age with a HOF MVP QB.  Trying to figure out where this "call all the shots" idea came from.

So we have speculation he has mental illness and doesn’t care about winning the Super Bowl the year he wins MVP

fucking Packer fans.  There are Viking fans laughing at us right now

Every other fanbase in the NFL.

"You pissed off Rodgers enough that he doesn't want to play for you anymore?  After winning the MVP?  On a team, with a few additions, legitimately could win it all?  And you're happy to let him go because you think your offense runs on auto pilot?

Let me get this straight.  The Packers found a way to fuck up the one thing that every single team in the league desperately wants, a HOF QB, and you think it's a good move?"

I’m not happy about any of it and I’ve stated it dozens of times already.   I mean, it’s embarrassing, shameful, unfortunate, whatever.  It sucks.

But it takes two to tango and right now it doesn’t seem like either side is willing or able to meet in the middle and make amends.

You can point the finger and assign blame but none of that matters at this point.   It’s more about what happens next.  Personally, I’d get on the horn with Andrew  Brandt and see if he can play mediator to figure this out.

Not what I said.

I wasn't pointing to "mental illness" as a pejorative, merely suggesting it could be a factor in his thought process and his behaviors.

For that reason, people should cut him some slack. This isn't just about him being a dick for fun.

Aaron's mental health journey over the offseason was likely him coming to terms with the fact that he wasn't getting traded, he had only 2 options: play for GB or sit out/retire from the NFL. And his other reality is he will not be retiring as a GB Packer which I honestly believe he really wanted to do.

Those aren't easy things to accept. It's almost comparable to a process people go through in an ugly divorce including all the stages of denial, anger, sadness, bargaining, etc.

I support the F.O. in that no player, including him, should have significant power in draft decisions, free agency signings, GM firings/hirings, coach hirings/firings and who is re-signed and who the Packers move on from. It's a reality of the NFL. As @Tschmack said, if you wanted that, the NBA/MLB are the sports for that.

I fully believe he reports next week. He's a Packer in 2021. And in 2022, he's gone and the Love era begins.

If he's struggling with mental health, mental wellness, mental illness, depression whatever you want to call it there may well be NOTHING the organization can do.

If he is struggling with transitioning into a woman, not much the organization can do either.

My prediction - Rodgers comes back on day two of training camp and at his press conference, he claims he never said anything like what the media has reported and that he's committed to his teammates and the Green Bay Packers and looks forward to competing for a Super Bowl in the 2021 season.

Why report on day 2?  One last eff you to the front office and to keep the media talking about this so he can force his way out in 2022.

@Tschmack posted:

If Rodgers cared about winning a Super Bowl  he does  he would already be in GB getting ready for the upcoming season.  Which players are there already?

Short of GB firing the front office and putting him in charge of personnel and awarding himself a lifetime contract I’m not sure you will see him play another game for the Packers.  He's the starter week 1.

This isn’t about business anymore.  It's always been business. It’s personal.  Not really. Which is just so stupid when you think about it.  Murphy can’t or won’t apologize or try to mend fences and Rodgers can’t or won’t swallow his pride and do what’s best for himself and the team. Neither should.

At this point in his career Rodgers may have different motivations.  I mean, he’s accomplished pretty much everything possible on the football field, including winning MVP and a championship.  If he retired today he’s a first ballot HOF.

Unless you are the owner of your own business you will never have complete control over your destiny and there are always sacrifices and trade offs to make.

It’s easy to understand why he may be pissed or annoyed but it is the NFL.  As great as he is, he’s still a commodity.  That’s how the NFL and owners and teams treat players.  Even star players.

If he reports, great.  If he doesn’t, he doesn’t.  But if you think this current situation actually helps him or the Packers in their ultimate pursuit (championship) well I guess I have a different perspective on what it means or takes to have a successful team.

As good as he is, if he or his teammates and the organization aren’t 100% aligned and committed it’s going to be tough for them to win it all.   Dysfunction is never a good look and rarely does it bring a team together and get then over the hump.

To that extent, I’m disappointed because it’s all there in front of them this year but the longer this drama carries on the more difficult it will be for them to move past their differences and it will likely impact how they do this season and beyond.

Since the Bucks are on my mind, it sort of reminds me of the year or two following their ECF run 20 years ago.  They came within a half of getting to the Finals with the Big 3 and fell short the following year leading to petty feuds with George Karl and Big Dog and later Ray Allen being dealt.  It didn’t have to happen but it did because egos got in the way of common sense.

Perhaps this can still be fixed, I don’t know.   I hope so because in the short term this could become the 2003+ Bucks all over again if they aren’t careful.

I'm betting ARod shows up at Training Camp. Maybe not on Day One, but he will be there at some point. Then we'll get to witness the feeding frenzy in the sportswriters' pool (near the sledding hill) where the jeenyuses get to report that they knew ARod would report, all along. This, after they caused this distress, in the first place.

And 12 could end all this tomorrow by issuing a statement along the lines of

"A lot things have been said in the media, from sources and even from club representatives. I am currently under contract, I love my teammates, I love my fans and I love my coaches. I am committed to being a Green Bay Packer and working as hard as I can to win the Super Bowl. Beyond that, I have no desire to comment on the matter, and will not be answering those questions from this point forward. Go Pack Go!"

WTF are you talking about?

Instead of a time stamp on these posts can we get one that states "posted on tequila" or whatever the beverage of choice is for that day?

Ummm, any players wanna stay UNvaccinated?? Potential forfeit

Well, it’s like my opinion man.  Just like you have your opinion Hank.

Over time I’m caring less and less about the Packers and the NFL.  I don’t think the product on the field has gotten better, there’s too many damn rules and reviews and obviously the owners and players are too focused on making money and screwing each other over.

The Bucks winning a title is just what the doctor ordered.   It means I care a whole lot less about Gute, Murphy, and yes, Aaron Rodgers for the time being.

I mean, I get it.  In this state it’s all Packers all the time.  But damn there’s a lot to like and get excited about with the Brewers and Badgers football and even some of the college hoops programs in the area- and of course your world champion Bucks that will start things back up again in October.

What if there’sa COVID outbreak among vaccinated players?

I just watched that Past McAfee clip and I think ARod is full of shit. He basically contradicted everything the media and sports pundits have said. I don’t buy that he’s not mad, holds s grudge, etc. I’ve read all over the Internet otherwise. That’s just Aaron creating a narrative. I’ve heard and read from too many other “sources” for me to fall for his empty words

Pretty positive that him going on McAfee every week last year and his extended media pressers were just a way for him to build his public image and get ahead of all of this, knowing the disagreements would eventually come to light.

The only leverage he really has is the court of public opinion, and he always thinks 8 steps ahead of everyone, so it makes sense for him to build a persona of a likable "positive vibe" guy, when there was a lot of talk about him being the opposite (bad body language, grudge holder) in the past.

We won't know because if they are vaccinated the NFL won't be testing them.

Unless, of course, the vaccinated player(s) is showing Covid symptoms.  My guess is that player would then be tested, and while low, can contract Covid even if vaccinated. So it could be a vaccinated player that causes an outbreak.
