Flynn's play certainly wasn't pretty.  But looking at him for what he is...a backup quarterback...he started 6 games for the Packers, the Packers were 3-3 in those games and Flynn had a QB rating of 90+ in four of those six games.  It's very likely the Packers would have been a second place team in 2013 if Flynn had not saved them from the Wallace/Tolzien trainwreck.  As ugly as it often was, Flynn proved that he could get the job done.

This game will go down as one of my favorite and most memorable Packer games ever:

Hopefully Tolzien a much better than I think he is.

He probably would look good in green and gold, but in a weak QB class, some GM is going to reach for him early.

Yeah, I'd love Grayson but he'll go to high for a team looking for a 3rd string QB.  If Bulaga walks I'd love to see the Packers nab Ty Sambrailo but not in the first and I don't know that he'll last to the 30th pick I the second.  Maybe trade down out of the first to higher in the second.  Last year I really wanted Richburg but he feel the same as Sambrailo is often forecast.  Linsley did pretty good though so hard to argue.

Yes, I am a CSU Ram fan.

The project/#3 are late rounders and UDFAs. I don't think Grayson goes earlier than mid-r3 to a team looking for a true back-up they can flip for a better pick.

I think you answered your own question.  I personally have no take on Grayson but one does wonder if TT will start to follow Wolf's path on drafting QBs as Rodgers ages.  I don't really see Tolzien being a realistic long term answer at backup.

Maybe that's why he only got a 1 year deal.

Its also tough to groom a guy and keep him on the inactive list each week. He takes up a spot on the 53 and contributes nothing. If you leave him on the PS, one of the crappy teams like the browns will snag him.

When I say "high pick" I mean r1 or r2. I see r3 picks as more of the mid-round with r4 and r5. I think Thompson does also. That's where you get your role players that are really the core of the team. The high picks are where you gamble on stars and the late rounds or UDFA are where you grab the project players with potential. That's just my impression though, I could be wrong.

Problem with drafting a QB before round 6 or so is that QBs with starting potential are ALWAYS overdrafted by QB needy teams.  So if Green Bay drafts Grayson in the 3rd round, he's most likely a 4th/5th round talent.  But TT would have to draft him in the 3rd b/c no doubt he'd be picked in the 4th by some crappy team with no QB.  This begs the question of why would TT draft a 4th/5th round talent in the 3rd round.  He should draft a 3rd round talent in the 3rd round.  Of course this all changes if TT sees something in Grayson making him a 2nd/3rd round talent that the other teams don't see.

I've read that after Winston/Mariota, this is a extremely weak QB class.  QB is not a need either.  So with no value and no need, I don't see it happening.

I agree. Value is very subjective when it comes to the draft. 31 teams can look at a guy and say he is a 4th round talent, but 1 team may see him as a 2nd round talent...could be based on need, fit, maybe they see potential, etc. Thompson trusts HIS board and if he sees a player as being the best value on the board then he's the pick. I doubt he's ever overdrafted a player based on his own board, consensus boards be damned.
That would be nice. I don't know if he's been good or bad overall in Dallas, but every game I've seen he seems to make a lot of good plays.

Thompson likes to sit back and let the feeding frenzy happen. If Carter is available in a week or two weeks then I'm sure GB will be interested. Lots of teams blow their wads on big names early and there are always underrated players left.

Harvin's biggest problem isn't how he is used, it's Harvin. Many reports out of both Minny an Seattle when he was there that he'd simply refuse to run routes or carry out assignments if they weren't plays he liked. Never see Cobb doing that. Hell he's usually the smallest guy on the field and he's sticking his nose into the box to block.

Edit: Reply meant for cucui two posts ago.....

I do not disagree with this, but I also see where the man has played ball.

For F's sake, Vikings? Seahags under PC, the Jets?

The guy has never had a real coach in his NFL Career. Although, I will give PC credit on back to back super bowls. this does not happen if a guy cannot coach.

I stick by my opinion, Harvin is misused.  He has the potential and talent to be one of the biggest playmakers in the league...

unfortunately, like I said in my last post, he has a ten cent head. And, his coaching does not seem to be able to get his best out of him.

I don't want him on the Packers, but I think with the Packers coaching staff that Harvin would be a completely different person/player.

Or, he would not make it through TC.
