Response for Pack-man on the prematurely locked game thread which saved the cowards more beatdown time.

In reference to the Center position and Tretter contributing:

-------------------------------

I'm not counting on him this year at all and I think EDS is a backup.  I openly have said EDS is inferior and would have loved a guy like Schwenke but he was nabbed a couple picks previous.

Point being, a GM looks at the whole team.  There will be holes, it's a fact.  To come to board only when the team is down and then piss and moan about specific talking points is ****ing bush league.  You, Pack-Man, are here and make your points and stand by them.  Fumblenuts and POSopus show up to snivel and drive some cherry picked agenda throwing around "I said" comments that are held together by baling wire and self loathing.

I think the center position is weak but have seen teams overcome deficits in the team.  I would have liked to see Velasco brought in for a try out but I'm not thinking he was going to be some savior.  He's a player that may be slightly better than EDS but then you're putting in a guy off the street in a hurry.  I completely think TT should have looked.  I do believe if Tretter didn't get hurt he would've challenged to start.  A wicked smart, athletic baller from the Ivy League manning the center position?  *cough cough* Matt Birk *excalibur is a putz, cough*.

As far as Spitz, back injuries, not good.

As  I posted a few days ago, the Cincy D-Front is tough. With the late hits on Rodgers plus the normal stuff we should all be glad he's alive for another game in week five.

Matthews goes out and who picks up the slack? Happens time and again when he's out.

this may just not be their year.

of course russell wilson's hawks may go 16-0.

I don't know, could be because Vernon Davis was also out.  And ASmith's escapades I'm sure didn't help this week.

SEA is the last team I want to see get the #1 seed.

I like Tretter a lot too. An Ivy League center (you know he's smart) with good size and Combine numbers isn't anything to sneeze at. My hope for him is that he's able to come back and get some playing time in a blowout or emergency situation here and there and go from there. Who knows, maybe that'll be enough to get him on the field late in the season. With Spitz, I can't help but wonder if he can come in and do a Mark Tauscher for this team. I know it looks bad that the Jaguars cut him, but that doesn't mean much. No one wanted Tauscher when he came in to save this team from the Barbie doll, and he played great. I hope Ted at least brings him in for a tryout. We know he is a tough, nasty interior OL. Maybe the physical ability is still there, maybe it isn't.

Boldin + 200 yards. One weapon and Capers couldn't or wouldn't take him away. How many total yards vs. Packers that game? Near 500. Last two 49'ers games? Where's the talent on defense folks? The team needed a specialist DE pass rusher and Dumerville or Osi was available. Somebody signed them, not the Packers.

You really are dumb. Your only solace in life is bashing other posters. Who is Matt Birk I have zero idea. I'd do something about that cough though.

But counting on a rookie from Cornell to protect the franchise when the fallback is EDS is a bad job. Really bad and we are seeing that every game.

They were gangbusters in between the opening TD and Matthews going out. After that? Not so much. This was obviously a team loss in the truest sense (everyone had a good heap of blame, no one stepped up), but it was a really big letdown to see the defense wilt the way they did after Matthews went out. Before he did, this one had the feel of a signature win.

Wow, the stupid writes itself.  Please keep showing us how much you don't know about football.

Rodgers is basically the team. His O-Line isn't good at protecting him, the defense outside Matthews is at times mediocre, at times okay. All the moves in the 2012 draft for defense have so far......?

Hopes: Rodgers stays healthy and the O-Line grows more cohesive as a unit. But with EDS at Center, is that possible. Talk about a weak link.

You don't know who Matt Birk is? Have you ever watched a football game before this season?

Get a life beyond this is my recommendation for you. Who counts on a rookie from Cornell to anchor the line to protect the franchise? TT and you? That is stupid. Try writing something intelligent for once rather than rah-rah TT is the best GM, whatever. Internet bullying might work on some but not on me.

Really, don't know who Matt Birk is?  Is this from the same guy who is the talent expert and wants to bang on TT.  Why don't you call it a day,  put down the keyboard, and head back to whatever forum you inhabited before stopping by this week.  The more you post here, the dumber you prove yourself to be.

that is an insightful post. i think the niners have had less yards in games 2-3 than against the pack in game 1.

also - the gb defense has a fair amount of talent, especially on the d-line, olb, and corner positions (i think shields should be a pro-bowler). despite that, something is missing. maybe it is time for capers to hang it up - for example, NO has achieved much more under a new 3-4 system that anyone could have thought, exceeding expectations even from rookies like vaccaro.

Well, you're obviously an expert on centers. You don't even know about a guy who may have been the best center of his generation.
