All emotions aside I have to wonder when that day will come? IMHO it will be a LONG time from now.

BTW I really like Rodgers comment. This has nothing to do with the Green Bay Packers. Go get em boys!
I've never cheered against Favre in my life. But I'll have to for at least two games this year.

Like everyone else, I'm not at all surprised about this latest turn of events. It really is the perfect situation for Brett. He hates training camp, and he bypassed it. He wants revenge on TT, and he'll get his shot which TT denied him by refusing to send him to Tampa last year. And hell, he probably has more friends amongst the ex-Packers in MN than he does amongst today's Packers.

It'll be interesting to see if Brett can reign in the 'gunslinger' stuff, Peterson is the best running back he's had in his entire career and MN's defense is probably better than anything GB trotted out in at least a decade. Throwing the ball fewer times a game would undoubtedly help his well-aged arm. I still think he's far superior to T-Jack and Rosenfels, so this doesn't do anything for my fantasy of the Packers breaking the Bears spirits in week one and then coasting to an easy division title.

I'm sure the ESPN boys are jumping up and down for the huge MNF ratings they'll get.
I don't normally post in threads where the Bears aren't a topic of conversation, but I have to make an exception here. I hope you'll indulge me...

Any shred of respect I had left for Favre after making the "wise" decision to forgo pissing on his legacy and reputation any further is gone. The guy has some serious mental issues.

I have even less respect for the Vikings' organization, if that's possible. What does is say about a team when its head coach and ownership flat-out lies to its players? What kind of precedent are they setting by letting this prima donna pull the strings by avoiding training camp and waltzing into a starting position after the rest of the team has been busting their asses?

I hope this blows-up in the team's face in apocalyptic fashion. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of morons.

PS: I know we have a rivalry, but if there's one thing fans of both our teams can agree on at this point, it's the sincere wish to kick the Viking's ass and put old man Favre flat on his back as much as possible.

Except the Packers weren't stupid enough to cave to Favres demands. Imagine having to go through all this *again* this year? Vikings better be careful what they wish for. They may just get it.
AS with most on here, I will never forget the joy that #4 brought on gamedays when I watched the Pack. The Superbowls, MVP's, playoff wins, etc.

I do believe that he should noot go in the ring of honor, and Packer HOF for a LONG TIME, at least 20 years. He thinks he has the last laugh, but in actuality, the Fans and the Packers will have the last laugh.

Now, what do with the #4 jersey, I have worn for the last ten years.....
You really think he's going to throw any less than years past? He'll still chuck it 500 times, book it. Ahman Green was a tremendous player from 01-04 and the results were still the same because Brent's ego couldn't take the fact he wasn't the man on the team anymore. Rams 01, Falcons 02, Eagles 03, Queens 04. All wound up the same way.

Jihad 4 Favre, good to see you'll be cheering for the Vikings in the 14 other games. A true fan.
Where is AFROS when you need him!

I guess I will have to do it for him: AIN'T NO STOPPIN THEM NOW!

The guy wants to play, he can play. I don't have a problem with him playing anywhere. It's very annoying to keep hearing about it, but whatever. I think it's hilarious that the Vikings are paying him 12 million dollars...he's 40, coming off surgery, had a poor season in '08, wasn't well liked by his Jet teammates, and hasn't gone to ANY of their camps yet. It's going to be very sad to watch one of the greatest players in NFL history fall flat on his face. It's also going to be sad for those Viking players who have been busting their butts all offseason and are very close to competing for a SB get screwed by Favre. I've said it many times before, a kid like Adrian Peterson who has the ability and attitude to be one of the greatest ever is getting screwed big time by his coach who is clearly an idiot....they're paying Favre 12 million dollars, you better bet they're going to put the ball in his hands and pass which means AD will get fewer carries which totally screws that kid over.
Question - I always went with the "Favre pouted and quit when they didn't get Moss" angle, but now I am wondering do you think it had more to do with the fact he didn't think he'd beat out Rodgers?

If you think the Vikings' players are going to give Favre a hero's welcome and bust their asses for a guy who's made it perfectly clear he has no desire to be in the trenches with them, you're in for a rude awakening.

I think it's possible. Most of us seemed to think Favre would beat Rodgers out about this time last year, but after watching Rodgers actually play I think he might have prevailed.

BND great post
Look at this cupcake schedule to start the season. If the Favikings aren't 3-0 when they play the Packers, it will be a huge upset.

Although it would be a great moment if the Favre/Vikings went into Ford Field and Favre threw a couple of pick sixes to allow the Lions to break an 18 game losing streak.

I said this before.

The Niners are NO pushovers this year. Browns and Lions, sure. Favre does have a tremendous record against them however.

I don't no man...everyone here and in the Vikings locker room (ok, everyone might be a stretch) has been saying they expected Brent to play for the queens this season. So why would they suddenly be disgruntled now that the expected has been realized?

No one - I repeat, NO ONE, is shocked by this.
I guess CKA has a case of the Mike Shermans when he goes with the "anything you want, Brett" schtick. I think Sherman had his pros and cons, but that was probably his biggest con, in my book, because I don't think it did the team one bit of good.

This is about where I am. Much as I think he's being an idot now and as ARod said, currently having nada to do with the Pack, I mostly see him in the long run as the prodigal son who will somewhere down the line realize that he had a jerk perioud, where he lied, did a dumb thing in a fit of ego and stomped on the sensibilities people who did nothing but support him as a Packer and as a person for decades--in a blind, mindless rage to get revenge on a guy who didn't give him what he saw as his deserved props and recognize him and his halo during a period of madness where he believed his own press and then some.

I think eventually he will get a longer view of the whole thing and after a looong healing period be honored and remembered here for his years of greatness and mostly forgiven for this period of lunacy, maybe chalked up to his intense withdrawal pains from the game he loved and had always dived back into each summer, that he was driven mentally to the ingrained response charge at the bell like a retired racehorse, giving him the excuse of temporary insanity. But for now, bring on the insanity. I love it for the Packers' sake. I love watching the media circus when it's not on our nickel.

For now I think it's a total hoot, like Boris I love the entertainment of it all. I am not worried a bit about him stomping on the Packers or anything like that, I love seeing Vike camp in disruption-ville, I love that he will face a Packer defense that he's not familiar with, I'm just ready for Bring It On! Fun fun fun!
B-N-D is all class. Great post, bro.

You know that while I hope the Packers kick the Bears asses twice a year, I think it's safe to say that you know I respect your organization. The Bears and Packers would never stand still for this kind of crap. The Vikings on the other hand.....let's say the Bears and Pack whip Minny's butts four times this year, and may the best team win the division!

Just a FYI, it's being reported that the Vikings....well in advance of the physical today, know that Favre has a slight tear in his rotator cuff, and are still going to sign him. Apparently, they have known this since May, and are going to press on knowing full well that this could blow out at any time.

Agreed 100%, Boris.

With Singletary running that team, no way are the 49'ers a pushover any longer. He doesn't put up with crap. He will instill discipline and mental toughness in that team again. And I think they beat the Vikings.
The Viqueens are one injury away from having a bad season and I can see it happening real easily.

Not an injury to TOG but to Peterson. With all the carries he gets you never know when he might go down and then the REAL pressure is on TOG. And, we all know how he handles pressure when he thinks he has to put the team on his shoulders.

I'm still surprised they didn't wait until 3-4 games into the season to make this move because we know TOG may not last an entire season.

It's on!!!
So much about what I'm hearing now on the radio driving to my chiropractor's office is that Favre is coming back for one more shot at the Super Bowl.

You had that shot two years ago, Brett. Remember the overtime game at Lambeau? if you'd just taken care of the damned ball, you'd have gotten back to the big game. It was your continued carelessness with the ball that denied you the opportunity for that second ring. You have nobody but yourself to blame.

I can see this happening. AP is a tremendous talent, but I have serious questions about his durability. In fact, when I do my fantasy football draft in two weeks, I'll likely pass on AP if he falls into my lap, only because I fear that he's going to miss time. Injury is a common occurrence in the NFL, but I think he has a predisposition. If he starts and plays all 16 games in the regular season, well, I'd be shocked.

Getting live feed of him walking around the facility with Childress leading the way. If you look closely, you can see Favre controlling CKA with strings

Kind of hard to see when CKA bent over backwards with his nose up his butt.
Hey pack fans!

I know its been a while, but I had to put my 2 cents in

I think many of us are reading way too much into his thoughts, but heres my personal opinion on the football side of it

I really think this guy can't live without playing football on Sunday. He doesn't care if the Vikings don't win a super bowl. I don't think he cared if the Packers made it to the super bowl the last few years of his stint there. I think he realized that he had no media on his farm......and that for the first time since he was what a child that he was not going to put on a helmet and play football on Sunday. Most of all, he was basically irrelevant now

I can't believe the Vikings do not SEE this. He doesn't care about playing for them or winning a superbowl. He wants to get his FIX.....which is actually playing football. Favre never cared about mini-camps or practices when he was young, so why are we shock now?

Lets be real, the Vikings was the only team that was interested and that would allow him to do this. The man needs a damn hobby that doesn't correspond with football. I think he needs to really play terrible in order to realize its over.........it was really over 3 years ago, despite the 1 year wonder he had in green bay

P.S. I am changing my name LOL

Ditto to these sentiments. Favre's dumb antics make just about anybody cringe at this point. I look forward to Bears, Packers, anybody knocking this tool down and out and breaking his obviosly beloved "streak". It can't happen soon enough IMO.
