He just seems always on the cusp of being really good or even elite, but heโ€™s still just not quite there. I wonder if being 275+ is maybe part of the problem. Matt Judon and Myles Garrett are the only guys in the top 10 of sacks who are 270+, everyone else is ~240-260. Just wonder if Gary isnโ€™t doing himself favors playing at a higher weight? Just a thought, seems like maybe dropping 10-15 lbs might give him that little bit extra zip to get a step on the OT.

I think a more realistic expectation with Gary would be that he becomes more comparable to a Jadeveon Clowney then a Clay Matthews type. Clowney has never had double digit sacks in his career. But he is a guy that is very good at setting the edge, is consistently in the QB's face and getting pressure, and OL have to account for that.

Gary seems to be very similar. He is IIRC in the top 12-13 among pass rushers in QB pressures and also a top performer in pass rush win rate. He also sets the edge fairly well and he makes QB's uncomfortable where they are making a throw maybe a 1/2 second or second before they want to.

That doesn't show up on EPSN or other highlights but these things can make a difference between a completed pass or even a pick.

IMO, he needs a Z Smith type or a true pass rusher to pair with him. I think he's better when a player of that caliber is along side him,
