It will be very surprising if Ja’s on this team in 2024. Even with a new DC (God willing ) , Ja would need a complete 180 on his attitude and focus to put the team first.

And I suspect this stems from a fractured relationship with MLF, who’s not going anywhere next year.

The big question now is what Gute can get for him knowing he’s a malcontent who the Packers want to move on from.

Agree 100% with the suspension. Folks think they can do and say whatever they freakin want to without consequences. F around and find out! The more money I have the more BS I can do.  We have rules and laws for a reason. MLF should have sat his ass as soon as he walked off the field after the coin toss

Jaier - "Coach must not have know I'm from Charlotte."

Disgruntled Player Interpreter - "The Coaches are not showing me the level of respect that I believe I have earned; therefore, I do not respect them."

Here's the problem I have with the suspension.    MLF is holding players accountable with this but he refuses to hold coaches accountable.

If he had fired Barry, the locker room would support this.    Since they all know the defense is an absolute joke and nothing is done about it, they will not be happy about this.

MLF has totally and completely lost the locker room now, in my opinion.

He's gotta go.

Screw the whole "disrespected" BS. Has MLF made every other player who has played a road game near his hometown a captain for that game? If so, then he has a gripe....if not, Shut Up! So has MLF "lost the locker room" or is Jaire an asshole?

To me, just the fact that Alexander even thinks he can do that is not only a damning statement on his own character, but points directly to the lack of leadership on the team (Coaches and players).

I would not jump to that conclusion. Some guys never think of consequences, only what they want at that moment. I never let players (basketball) wear headbands, long sleeves, tights, etc. ...it is called a "uniform" for a reason, we are all going look the same. Had a starting PG wear a headband when I went into the locker room to give pregame. I saw it and calmly inserted a different starter for us when I went over matchups. As I did I heard 3-4 players turn to him and say "we told you so". When we came out for warmups the headband was gone.

Solid point but Gutey announced the suspension.....not MLF.

I think we all knew a lot was happening behind the walls at 1265..... And still is

I don’t want to defend Barry (just threw up in my mouth a little).  What if part of the problem with the defense is that the coaches are saying one thing and guys like Jaire are telling them to do something else.  That would explain the constant “communication problems”.  He made himself team captain, I wouldn’t put anything past him.  You can’t have this on your team no matter who the coaches are.

Wow, I did not see this coming. But I can't say the team is wrong in taking some action here. I wonder if they would have done the same thing if the team was 10-5 and fighting for the division. This whole thing could end up going in several different directions but most of them are not good.

I think Jaire's stunt made it easy for the organization to take this step, but it's not only about the stunt itself, from either side. Whatever the issues are- injuries, defensive philosophy, defensive staff- this came to a head after weeks or months of weird, passive aggressive posturing by 23. It's kind of hard to see how he believed such a decision would go over well. It was stupid and he made it even more stupid by insisting on making the call ahead of the other captains.

Otoh, it's understandable that a vet on this unit might harbor some frustration over the way the DC has steered them over the cliff and seems to suffer no repercussions ever. I wonder if 23 even wants to be in GB at this point. It's most likely that a bunch of things may have played into all of this. Douglas was jettisoned, Campbell showed his frustration recently.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Jaire may have felt a bit cramped by the youth movement that was going on in the secondary. The short winning streak happened in part due to the young dbs starting to find their way on defense. Talent wise, Alexander has no reason to feel threatened by that. But he's also watched the front office in the past couple of years lean heavily into younger guys in favor of older vets. If your unit is going to suck, better it happen with guys who have some upside and room to get better. Regardless, this has been brewing for a while. It just happened to rear its head in a bonehead move by the player. I don't believe it will end here, either, given the public discipline and a media that will help in blowing it up.

If Jaire was acting up under a first-year DC in 2023, we could blame him for everything without reservation - given that Jaire publicly clashed with Barry in 2022.

That Jaire is acting up in 2023 under a 3-time loser of a DC who should never have been hired, should not have been retained this season, and should have been fired this season, makes the blame apportionment a bit murkier.

I don't excuse what Jaire did on Sunday in any way.

I also don't excuse MLF/the Packers for (1) hiring Barry in 2021, (2) retaining Barry in 2023, and (3) not firing him after the Tampa Bay game.

Agreed. He's been "disrespected" to the tune of 58 million dollars so far in his career.

But, I do think that MLF has lost the locker room. The fact that Campbell, Douglas, and Alexander have all expressed frustration is too much smoke. In Campbell's case you could argue that Joe Barry's scheme changed the perception of him from being just another guy to an All-NFL player in 2021. Jaire was a Pro Bowler in Barry's scheme in 2022. Douglas went from a practice squad guy in Barry's scheme to a guy that starts for a Super Bowl contender.

I think Barry sucks, but it's not like these guys didn't succeed in this type of scheme before.

It's not defending Barry. There is no defending Barry. But your point might speak directly to the kinds of mistakes we've seen on all three units for years now. People aren't on the same page. Different people are paying different amounts of attention in meetings, practice, etc. When the same types of mistakes happen over and over, fundamental mistakes, it's a good bet that people aren't being held accountable. I've wondered for a while now what would happen if they cleaned up all the "little" things how this team would improve. They seem to never be able to get out of their own way. The dick stepping thing.

This isn't an isolated incident. The world beat to death the speculation of whether Rodgers was undermining the coaching. Zadarius didn't leave town on the best of terms. Kylin Hill was thrown off the team. They wasted no time in cutting Dallin Leavitt. The list is growing longer. Rasul, Campbell, now Jaire. The dysfunction needs to be rooted out and dealt with properly, no matter where it comes from, including the coaching staff. Overall, this season showed a ton of promise. But this kind of bullshit seems to keep creeping into the process.

Douglas, Campbell, Alexander. The coaching staff lost the team. The fact that Walker, etc. laughed at it tells you the inmates run the asylum. Lafleur comes out and basically blames the offense when EVERYONE knows that Barry isn't ever held accountable tells the players that Lafleur's buddy relationship with his coaches means more than the team's interest.

They saw Rodgers dictate offensive play calling and personnel decisions also gives the coaches no leg to stand on. It's a joke. The sad part is even the fans and soft ass press see it. Lafleur looks like the pussy he is. They gotta go.

I wonder if Alexander plays vs the Vikings.   It’s possible he only played this week because it was a home town game.

The coin toss shenanigans are very telling.   He doesn’t respect this staff.

And Brainded takes another round.😉👍🏽

I would bet he cleaned out his locker and will not be seen vs. da Bears.  In fact it may be a 1 game suspension but he was told don't ever show up again.  I have no proof of this, just a hunch.

The players pick the captains.  The fact that Jaire was not named captain, for a game in his hometown, is a deafening message sent from the other players on the team.

Jaire making himself de-facto captain reeks of Zadarius wearing the "C" chain when he wasn't named captain by the other players.  And we remember what happened to Z.

Same thing will likely happen to Jaire after this season.

He has to play to get paid. I believe his salary is averaged per game over the course of the contract (not including his bonus $) and he loses the pay for this game. He would have to voluntarily come back for Chicago game to get paid.

"I'm not saying he was bad in that regard"...umm, well, you just laid out why he's not captain. So, yes, it was exactly that.

MLF said that this season coaches choose captains changing each game.

“It’s never just one thing” OK LaFleur.   He’s arguably one of your three most talented players and is a top 5 player in the league at a critical position.

Players know.  MLF is a pussy.  He comes up small in big games and defends bad coaches.  He’s got to go.

BTW, I will bet 100 bucks the main reason for Love’s improvement is Tom Clements.    Rodgers literally said he’s the guy that made him who he is.
