He’s underpaid. How about we all give up 10% of our incomes to the man. I wonder what he would do with the extra 6 bucks every week😉

It's obvious the current front office is planning for life after #12 by building a top defense, and rolling the dice that all they need is a QB at the level of Jimmy G to win balls games...don't turn it over, just work the offensive system.

Hold the opponents under 14 and you will win a lot.

IMO, it greatly improves their chances even while 12 is around.

Post of the month.  Maybe the year.

Love to see it.  He's earned it and IMO a lockdown CB is the 4th most important position to fill after QB, LT/RT, and pass rusher.  Just gotta stay healthy.

And gotta give Gute credit here.  Traded back 4 spots, picked up an extra first rounder, and still got a top 3 CB.  For all the flack he gets, this trade/pick is as good as it gets.

And I think the front office is building a team that can win in Lambeau in December/January.  Top 5 defense and a strong running game.  Still need a QB though but I can imagine the front office is not ok with this team losing at home in the playoffs.

Yep, it's really been no secret for the last 2 years what MLF is trying to do.

And while yes, both the Rams and 49ers who had the same exact blueprint made it to the SB but lost with Jimmy G and Goff, a slighty better version of that QB, they both likely win the SB.

An excellent defense and a solid running game shouldn't require a 50 million dollar QB to get to a SB. A 43 year old Brady and Matt Stafford just did it in the last 2 years. Neither were All-World in QB play to win their titles.

It doesn't look like there's any cap savings for the upcoming season.  If anything, I think he'll count slightly more for this season than what he was for the last year of his rookie deal.  But, it locks him up for the next few years which is ultimately what's important.

EDIT - maybe not.  Since it's an extension, he's on a 5 year deal, right?  This year plus the next 4?

If that's the case, I assume the signing bonus is prorated for 5 years, or $6 million/year plus a base of just over $1 million.  So the cap number for 2022 is basically the same as the last year of his rookie deal - about $7 million. SWEET!!

I was just engaging in a little dark humor to deal with that loss.

There's also Marv Levy's comment about offense making you good, defense making you great, and special teams making you a champion.

Now the team has enough money to re sign Kevin King!

Gotta be working on Gary and Jenkins for extensions.  I'm sure it's been on the works for a few months just like Jaire.

I was thinking the same. I wonder if they will wait a little to see how Jenkins recovers before attempting to re-sign him? If Tonyan recovers well I would like to see him extended also. Would also be nice to extend at least one of our safety's. I'm hoping they can extend Amos as Savage was bad last year and Amos is the better player between the two but he is also older.....

Zero INTs on the season.

Missed multiple games with a recurring back injury.

Just plain bad in the Atlanta and Minnesota losses.

A 60.8 PFF rating so far this season. (For those who hate PFF he was at 90.5 in 2020, 77 in 2021, and 80.3 last season).

He has displayed little interest in tackling since the shoulder injury early in the 2021 season.

He has also displayed obvious displeasure while speaking with the media the past two seasons.

Jaire has always been a bit "unique," but unique goes better with ascending and productive than it does with expensive, discontented and underperforming.

Don't know if it is the injuries, the result of playing for a Defensive Coordinator who everyone outside of the Head Coach recognizes is incompetent, a combination of those things or something else entirely, but Jaire's play has noticeably regressed this season.

He needs to be playing Man on the best WR vs. every opponent. Joe Bury doesn't use him that way. Just another excellent player miscast and misused by this coaching staff
