I wish that number were combined with number of opportunities to break up or intercept passes.  If he is in position more often to disrupt a pass, the chance of dropping a pass also increases.

He was fourth in league in passes defensed

IIRC, Kevin King was also 10th in the league in the same category.

If King can manage to stay healthy, that could be quite the duo in 2020

Hard to intercept passes when the other team rarely throws in your direction. Pretty strong case that he's the best cover corner in the league.

Fun reading back through this thread.

This shared tweet (from the day after he was drafted) stood out to me.

If I’m the Packers I do everything possible to lock up and extend Alexander before he hits the open market.   He’s a top 3 corner in the NFL.  You cannot replace guys like that very easily.

Teams are not throwing his way.  That’s the greatest compliment a corner can receive and I guarantee you they respect his ability (picks or not) because all he does is shut down the opposing player.

If you look back over the last couple of years the only WRs to have any level of success against him are Diggs and Thielen in MN.  That’s about it.

King has played well this year but I worry about the contract year and his injury history.

I wonder how much Jaire & Davante help each other in practice? Think about that.

That’s true Boris.  It works both ways.

Jalen Ramsey is a very good player but don’t think for a second that Davante Adams will be sick and tired of hearing all week about how good Ramsey is - or how he’s the so called best corner in the league.  I suspect Jaire will have something to prove as well.   You will never convince me that Ramsey had a better season than Alexander.

As someone who watched at least 6 Ram games, you're right. Ramsey takes risks that don't always pay off. I'll bet Davante is looking at film figuring out how he and Arod can fool him and make him pay.

Some may not want to hear this, but a healthy Kevin King helps 23's game as well. The Packers can just do more and allow Alexander more freedom when they know King is at the very least competent on the other side of the field.

It also helps that this safety duo is playing lights out. Amos has had a Pro Bowl year and Savage really looks like a legit 1st rounder.

2nd team All-Pro Tight End  left vacant. That's almost as big a snub to Big Bob as Jaire not making first team.

It's not really a snub to anyone. It's just that Travis Kelce was a unanimous pick. Unlike the only other unanimous selection (Aaron Donald), voters only vote for 1 TE (they vote for 2 interior lineman).

No surprise here but the Packers are picking up his 5th year option.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) - According to a report by Sports Illustrated’s Mike Silver, the Packers have exercised cornerback Jaire Alexander’s fifth-year option for the 2022 season.

Alexander will make $13.294 million during the 2022 season.

The Packers first-round pick in 2018 is considered one of the top corners in the league. He’s tallied four interceptions in his three seasons in Green Bay. The 24-year-old also racked up 41 passes defended. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020.
