Dillon had a couple runs good but man....he has dropped off from 2021 for sure.
Too much focus on Door County and a new kid?
Taylor is still available.

Dillion and Jones are both very good examples of why spending high draft capital on a RB is usually a mistake.
I said it all last season ....why in the world did they insist on using Dillon inside the 5 yard line instead of Jones?
By all accounts, he's a super good dude. Always positive, holds others up, promotes the community. Just a wonderful ambassador for the Green Bay Packers. But, man, I just don't think he's a good football player at this point in time. When he and Jones rotate, the offense comes to a screeching halt when he is in the game. He has no burst, no wiggle. It's a slow plod straight ahead, usually followed by a stumble. He drops passes that hit him directly in the hands. I do think his pass protection is good, which is why he probably still has a job at all. The children book he wrote is called "Quadzilla Finds His Footing" but that's wishful thinking. He's such a fan favorite, but I just don't see how they can pay him for a second contract after this year.
I agree with all that.

If the running back is a guy that can hit home runs by breaking 75 yard runs, then I think high draft capital for a RB on a rookie contract is often a good move.
AJ Dillon ran a 4.53 at the combine and I would bet he wouldn't run under 4.75 right now. Aaron Jones is a great back and a playmaker, but he ran a 4.56. He has been caught from behind on several long runs over the years (late in the half in the SF playoff game loss where he should have scored standing up- they then got the FG blocked).
The rumors are they want to trade for Jonathan Taylor. He ran a 4.39 at the combine. Unless you are a DB that runs a sub 4.35, you aren't catching him from behind if he's healthy.
Seems unlikely but has Jones gotten faster with age. On that week one TD he was clocked at the second fastest top speed next to Tyreek Hill for the week. .

An A.J. Dillon for Cam Akers change of scenery trade kind of makes sense.

Bulaga on the radio saying the biggest issue was the OL run blocking was shit.

I don't disagree 🤔 & losing 2 preferred starters on the left side probably didn't help any.

Even with that, Dillon tripped over his own feet on some key downs. Also, I can't remember the last time he broke a tackle. Sure, he is still able to churn forward and gain a couple of extra yards while being tackled (the AJ Hawk defensive speciality), but that's it.

Some guys, Davante Adams is in this category, just play faster than they time? I'm not sure why that is, but maybe they retain speed better in full pads than some other guys?
His YPC has dropped every season. He definitely looks slower with his decision making this year. Not sure what happened with him but his playing time needs to drop ASAP after Jones returns.

Blocking and tackling win football games….who knew
I know it is vs. college players, but am I correct in thinking Dillon looked a lot more athletic in college?

And Dillon blocked better in pass protection, than Wilson did, which is why Wilson is on the PS, if they didn't release him, when they signed Robinson.
Dillon has some.nifty Twitch videos.
Him and Kurt Benkert can have lots of fun together
Last night, the plodding Patrick Taylor had 4 carries for 30 yards (7.5 ypc).
Taylor now has 20 carries for 101 yards (5.1 ypc) on the season.
AJ went 15 for 53 (3.5 ypc) against the Giants.
On the season, Dillon has 164 carries for 574 yards (3.5 ypc).
Yeah, but last night Taylor cost us time. He's a vet; he should have known getting OOB was the smert move rather than trying to pick up another couple of yards. Dillon does a great job after catching the ball.
Once Dillon gets in space and a head of steam, he's a load to bring down.
He's built for goal to go situations, and he's not the most savvy back, which is why he's averaging 3.5 ypc. I think he'd rather create the hole rather than run through one.
I wouldn't agree that he's a goaline or fourth down RB. Maybe closer to that now but certainly not earlier in the year when he'd trip over the grass before hitting the line of scrimmage in pretty much any short yardage play he ran. He does do better with some momentum and open space but does not look like a good yards after contact or between the tackles runner. Jones is better at both of those even though he gives up at least 20lbs to Dillon.
I understand the disappointment in Dillion early in the year. But the offensive line couldn't block The Little Sisters of the Poor until about the 8th week
Every O player looks better with good blocking. All of a sudden QBs can throw all over the field, RBs are ripping off chunks of yards, and WRs are making catches everywhere. On the DL side, it's almost the same as the more havoc those guys cause, the less the other team does. I have no clue why they give QBs such outlandish contracts when most teams would be better served by spending more $$$$ on the OL and DL. Oh, you need a decent QB and a very good D to take home a Superb Owl, but give an average QB a great line and a good D, and you have a SB champ in Dilfer or Flacco or Eli Manning or Brad Johnson...

The problem is they line up too far in the backfield. He has to run 7 yards just to reach the line of scrimmage and the OL have to hold their blocks longer. Quick counts, where you don't let the D dig in (TB was great at that) and quick hitters work best in short yardage.
So, Dillon practicing with a broken thumb. Just wondering if we can rely on him not to fumble with limited use of the thumb? I’m guessing he probably had a lot of teammates trying to strip the ball from him in practice this week to test him. At least it sounds like Jones could play but maybe limited snaps.

I'm working on getting rid of Murphy first...
The Pack ran for 162 yards today on 34 attempts.
That means, as a team, the Pack averaged 4.8 yards per carry.
Dillon contributed 12 yards on 7 carries, or 1.7 ypc.
AJ is averaging 3.4 ypc on his 171 carries this season.
When it is goal to go for 1 yard it's pretty hard to gain more than 1 if you score. I'll take the TDs with no fumbles any day.
Dillon doesn't get many 4th and goal carries from the 1. That might account for about 1% of his average per carry. His numbers have dropped every season. Then end for Dillon is closer than his rookie season.

Where did I say 4th and goal. There is also 1st, 2nd and 3rd and goal, which he does have a lot of.
I meant to say 1st and goal from the 1. And no, there's not a lot of AJ Dillon carries that can result in a TD after 1 yard.
No more this year than the year before or the year before that. Look at his career, rookie season first:
5.3YPC
4.3YPC
4.1YPC
3.4YPC
There isn't an unfairness of the opponents 1 yard line issue here. The issue is he's getting worse as a RB every year.
Short shelf life for those guys....look at Dalvin Cook and Emmett Smith
