The OL dealt with a lot of injuries when Steno was OL coach and didn't miss a beat. Under Butkus it was more of a trainwreck when any changes needed to be made to the line.
I just don't feel as good about that room with Butkus at the front of the room.
Rarely are coaching changes smooth.

I agree on Steno v Butkus. If I recall, Steno got re-involved last year toward the end and the line improved. Now, whether it was due directly to his influence or just the OL gelling is up for debate, but I don't think there's any doubt the OL was much better under Steno than it has been under Butkus. (I said so last year, too.)

Bakh is probably going to be cut after this season as his cap hit is 40 million in 2024, but his dead cap if waived is only 19 million.

If you truly thought you were a Super Bowl contender this year, there is no way you consider trading him. But if you honestly aren't, and the Jets get desperate and start offering some premium picks (say the 1st or 2nd rounder next year other than the one they'll already send for Rodgers and another pick) you have to consider it. Since mid-October of 2020, Bakh has played in 19 of the possible 47 games and he turns 32 next month.
As others have pointed out, this trade almost entirely benefits the Jets. Not the Packers.
A better record for the Jets in 2023 means a lower 1st round pick for the Packers. Why would the Pack want to do that?
IF Bakh can stay healthy, and the Jets wouldn't be trading for him unless he is, then Love loses out on an All-Pro LT who protects his blindside in his 1st year as a starter. And yes, that matters tremendously. The presence of him as a vet also only helps out the younger OL like Tom and Nyman etc.

My understanding of trades is that because the trade for Rodgers variable (IE, we could get a 1st or 2nd) you cannot do any other trades dealing with the 1st and 2nd round picks *until* the stipulation for that trade is reached.
Because Rodgers has to play 65% of snaps in a season to trigger the 1st round pick, that part of the trade would not be triggered until week 11 at the earliest.
However the trade deadline is after week 8. So there will be no way to trade Bakh to the Jets for either their 1st or 2nd next year because those picks are tied up in the Rodgers trade and will be until after the trade deadline passes.
This is why teams do not like to do trades with escalators and the like.

Anyway, I think the only realistic trade team for Bahk would be the Jets just to reunite him and Rodgers, and that's already been discussed as a no-go for this year. With his knee, he's not going to want to go to a rebuilding team. Another team that might be a possibility is KC as their line needs help and their chances are good for another SB run, but I don't know how their cap stands.
There will be plenty of teams that would like an All Pro LT by week 8. If we are looking like a rebuilding team at that time, you absolutely move him.
I love Bak and I would trade him in a heartbeat. He's not part of the future of this team, but he could easily be an all pro this year.
Best reason to keep him is to keep building Jloves confidence, but he is one and done

Trading Bahktiari when you have Jenkins playing next to him where he should have been playing would be grounds for firing everyone associated with running the team.
This is something that has always bugged me. When a team has alot of depth at a position (real or perceived), everyone then wants to trade. Having depth is a good thing. If you make a trade and an injury happens then you've screwed yourself. In case nobody has noticed, injuries happen often in the NFL.
So Rodgers wants Bahk? If that mofo is so intent of signing so many Packers how about we make the trade that will ultimately make him happiest. Trade the guy who signed them all, to the Jets. Yes, Gute to the Jets for 2 firsts.

I bet Rodgers would like to have Daktari now that he has seen/worked with the shit show they have at OL.
