Just knowing this the Packers shouldn't have to take a mid round pick as compensation to get a team to take his salary. <For what it's worth, Aaron Rodgers' 2023 cap hit on a team that theoretically trades for him would be approximately $15.75 million, according to OverTheCap.com.>
Aaron Jones just took a pay check. He did not have to. So what's your point?
So you think Aaron Jones and his agent went to the team and said "Hey guys, I'd like to make less money this year."?
from the internet
"As the NFL world awaits word about his future, Aaron Rodgers is in Orange County this morning for his celebrity flag football game. Several QBs here in SoCal including Jared Goff, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Matt Leinart"
Just a big kid having fun.
I think if Aaron Jones didn't take a pay cut he would have been released, there was plenty of speculation about that happening once the season ended. I also believe he realized he couldn't do much better than what the Packers were offering on the open market and could land in a less friendly environment.

I'd take two guaranteed #2s in a heartbeat to dump that contract and move forward. That's not as good as a #1 but two shots in a crap shoot might be as good as one.
@PackerRick posted:It's not just the cap hit in 2023 but the following 2 years as well. The cap hits are the biggest obstacle but so would the loss of Love be. Gute will have a legacy and he drafted Love to be his QB. If Love never becomes the GB starter and plays well his legacy is probably doomed.
The way I figure it Gute's legacy is already doomed . Do you not read this board at all? Love could win the Super Bowl next year and Gute would still catch crap around here. Seriously ! Some are already saying what a fool Woody would be if he signed Rodgers and gave us a fantastic comp for a trade. As much as Rodgers drives me crazy with the no-show pre-season, mushroom trips, wild women, and superiority complex still he is a "BAD" man. No puns please. Reasons for his downfall last year were #1 No preseason bonding with new WR corp., #2 O-line in disarray most of the season, #3 Cobb with a messed up ankle, #4 Tonyan one year removed from ACL injury, #5 broke thumb, #6 Cracked rib/ribs . He IMO is still a NFL caliber QB who could get a team to the Super Bowl.
And if a trade is in the works don't we all think the Jets would have someone testing out all the waters to see what the word is going around. I am sure , no doubt about it, that other folks read this board and do not post. Spy you could say or troll maybe. Just sayin'.
First Rounder and more or next team up!
Iβm not against mushrooming or wild women, but thatβs just me.

Playoffs on the line.

As healthy as you can hope to be for game 17.
He, and the rest of the gang knew that if they lost it would most likely be the last one.
The Lions are improving but certainly not a juggernaut.
This run is done. It's time to move forward for all parties.
I don't think many people would miss much sleep over losing Gute or Murphy but if Love wins a SB a lot will be forgotten. The Love pick happened at a strange time and if we take Tee Higgins there instead (and actually pick someone who would play and contribute) we may just have won another SB with Rodgers as we were only a play or two away from making it two years in a row. Of course hindsight is 2020.
@Herschel posted:Why should he take a voluntary pay cut? Are you doing the same thing? You're pretty cavalier with someone else's livelihood.
Dude chill out, I never said he should take a pay cut. Question was posed if you'd keep him with a $25m pay cut. I said I would, but then said he wouldn't take the pay cut. I said nothing nor inferred anything from there.
No idea why you're so on edge but you need to relax. We're all here having fun, you should do the same.
Whatever the Jets are offering the Packers agreed to so unless Rodgers nixes the deal, there will be no pullback by the Packers and on to the next team. To get a #1 pick it would take a team that thinks they are a QB away from the SB and a motivated billionaire owner. That pretty much eliminates everybody except the Jets and the...Jets.

More of an indictment of MLF ... Dan Campbell has beaten him three straight times, even though we've had better players.

theres a bunch of people saying it - itβs speculation but itβs a common speculation
A bunch of posts on here in the past 12 hours like Rodgers passed away. Are we reminiscing already?
Look, all these posts are strictly our own speculation on how/what we think Rodgers wants. My "opinion" is that he has no desire to play in NY, but he wants to play. Wants to end his career on his terms with a SB in GB. Unfortunately he's not going to get that chance with GB ready to move on.
AR is good dude people. Never threw anyone, the team or the city under bus. In fact he's embraced the city of GB more than any player I've known in recent history. Even for those of you who think he's an attention whore, he responded to saying that most of the shit he comments on have been 100% based on questions that have been directed to him.
His non-football views are definitely non-conformist, but he talks from the heart and explains shit and backs it up in a way I respect by actually promoting discourse and communication. I think he's a generational talent and a decent human being. I'm not turned off by his alternative approach towards life, and think we can use more thought provoking athletes like him. I hope he retires a Packer this year, or is given a chance to play one last year in GB if he's "all in" and is surrounded with talent. I think the dude deserves it. None of us have the right to comment on his private/family life either because we don't know shit about what went down.
You can help me get the soap off my hands from the ball washing, but I just find the dude a breath of fresh air even if I don't agree with all his views. And I still think a motivated Rodgers give GB the best chance to win for another year.
Sometime in late October 2023 from some poster: We miss you AR and I never wanted you to leave.
Lol. Someone named Kevin Skimer and Rich Cirimi might as well be any of us on this site.
They arenβt insiders and Iβd argue they arenβt media. Yet these morons sell it like itβs fact. Oh boy.
Iβd much rather hear from people like Andrew Brandt. Or other former GMs.

I think that's what I said. He could have rejected the pay cut and became a FA but preferred GB. < I also believe he realized he couldn't do much better than what the Packers were offering on the open market and could land in a less friendly environment.>
So, I have heard the LARs are allegedly shopping Stafford for a trade... if I was the NYJs, I might be taking a look at a deal for Stafford rather than Rodgers. Just saying...
AR to LA?

So trade Love and draft another QB in 2023?

You stay out of it
Despite a report to the contrary, the #Packers and #Jets have not agreed to the framework of an Aaron Rodgers trade, per sources. Both sides continue to await word from Rodgers on his plans. If he decides he wants to go to New York, then the teams will work to hammer out a deal.

No, but within reason do the right thing and let the guy go out to an extent on his terms. I think he deserves it.
This isn't Favre 2.0 and don't treat it like it.

I have no problem with your take.
IMO, if AR comes back, they should trade Love and draft another QB.

Hey finally some words from the man himself. "It won't be long" and "There's a time limit to all this". I also noticed in the back and forth he said "Not if you only play for one year you can't be an all time Jet". So that's interesting.
If you invest 3 years and a #1 pick you need to plan for 2025. Aaron isn't playing forever. We're in the steep decline phase of 99.9% of the QBs who have ever played the game if we stick with 12. Get away from the contract and start building for the future. No one is an upgrade from Rodgers for 2023. It's about starting the next generation of GB QB play with a viable candidate. 12 was given his chances. That era is over
Sticking with AR is just kicking the can down the road and compounding the mistake the organization made last year by not moving on. Time to give the player the Packers have invested so much in his opportunity.
