... in calling around, asking teams that are uninvolved what they’d give up, just about everyone said it should be a Day 2 pick this year, fronting a package with a conditional pick or two on the back end.”

This seems to line up with some of the rumors and reports we’ve heard about the trade conversations. Green Bay apparently wants to get at least one first-round pick. Joe Douglas and the Jets, unsurprisingly, are clearly not willing to give up a first-rounder.

Based on Breer’s report, it appears the Jets’ demands are closer to being logical than the Packers’. ...

... "Ya'll ain't going to no Super Bowl," Pro Football Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler told TMZ Sports, referencing the Jets' hopes should they sign Rodgers.

Butler predicted the Jets would finish below.500 if they sign Rodgers and worries there will be no sense of chemistry among teammates with New York's expected new addition.

"I don't know if Aaron Rodgers is going to be there the whole offseason to gel with the top Rookie of the Year wide receiver (Garrett Wilson). ... I don't know if he's going to be there to go to the clubs with Breece Hall. I don't know."

Butler doesn't seem to have a high opinion of Rodgers, who he says would potentially "waffle again" with the Jets in 2024 if the upcoming season doesn't go according to plan. ...

So what happens first, the trade is finalized or this thread gets to 175 pages?

Actually, yesterday and today have been pretty mild, compared to days earlier in the week. I'm pretty sure there was one day where 4-5 pages were added, and a couple of days that had 3.
Maybe March Madness and/or the anticipation of contributed to the cooldown.
We'll see what happens this coming week.
I predict it will easily go over 200 pages once a deal happens (or not).

The same Joe Banner that said Philly extending Carson Wentz to a 4 year deal making him the 2nd highest paid QB (at the time) was a fantastic move?

Let the Jets contact Lamar.  Sign him.  Who gives a shit?  If they get him, it’s 2 #1 picks and he’ll cost you as much per year as Rodgers.  But I’m sure he’ll stay healthy with New York and his completion percentage will significantly improve.

Of course, that also assumes Baltimore doesn’t match- which I’m 90% sure they would.

Wow.  Getting into the Lamar sweepstakes sure evens the playing field.

It’s becoming clear that the Packers will not get much for Rodgers. They should do whatever is best for the salary cap, and if that’s a post- June 1 release, then that’s fine. There is no reason to keep him for the 2023 season, but also little reason to rush a trade to the Jets for a low-round draft pick.

The Packers want to take the entire cap hit this year.  If you don't believe me, look at their cap management this offseason.  They've restructured deals to move cap money into future years so they can take Rodgers' full cap hit this year.

We currently have the 3rd most cap space in the league.  If we trade Rodgers after June 1 we'll have the most cap space.  You can't roll cap over, it's use it or lose it.  There would be no reason to restructure contracts if you weren't taking the entire AR cap hit this year.

As for a getting a low round pick for Rodgers, as weird as this sounds, does anyone think Rodgers wants that?  "Yeah I was only worth a 3rd round pick" would totally damage his ego.

The recruiting of Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers continues, and this time, it’s for something completely unrelated to football. The potential New York Jet hasn’t officially been announced in a trade, but he’s already landed an “impossible-to-get reservation at the oracle of orecchiette, Rao’s,” according to Dean Balsamini of the New York Post.

The restaurant has already hosted famous athletes including Phil Simms, Joe Montana, Boomer Esiason and Peyton Manning; the latter celebrated his second Super Bowl ring at Rao’s with brother Eli in February 2016.

The 39-year-old Rodgers has already made it clear that he intends to play for the Jets in 2023, and it seems like New York is already rolling out the welcome mat.

“He’s been here four or five times. I’d love to see him more,” Rao’s owner Benjamin Prelvukaj told The New York Post. “He loves the ribeye — and tips well.”

The owner of the East Pole in NYC, Tom Marignetti, agrees: “He’s a cool dudeâ€ĶHe’s the kind of guy you’d want to have a drink with. Compared to Wisconsin, he’s going to have a ball in New York City.”

(at least #12 is a good tipper)  ðŸ‘ðŸŧ 👏ðŸŧ 👏ðŸŧ

Jets are trying to show a position of "strength" to try and reduce the Packers asking price aka "You're in foreclosure."

When the facts are, they are NOT in foreclosure

X4 League MVP & Super Bowl MVP is most certainly worth #13 overall.

Chongo said.... (And I agree) Can you imagine if Rodgers goes to the Jets and the Jets win the Super Bowl and Gutey gave him away for peanuts??

Career suicide. Trade of a lifetime for our GM. He's got time. I love it. It'll happen. Be patient.

Look what Gutey has done in the past. Traded for Jaire, just last year....trading with the Vikings for Christian Watson.

C'mon....the guy knows what he's doing. Let him cook!

Interesting conundrum, isn't it? The word you hear from the talking heads is Rodgers wants the Jets to have every available asset. Jet fans would love to give up nothing to have him there. So what is the real value, then? If he's the missing piece, if you think he gets you over the hump, it should stand to reason you'd be ok giving up something for the guy. A good bit of it is posturing, but most Packer fans who've paid attention understand that ego of his.

I don't see a guy who is staying in the game to win a title. Whether it's for his love of the game, or for numbers, or attention, or $$$, he seemed almost resigned to the losses that added up in 2022. It also seemed like his Mcafee segment was a stab at finding a grudge to carry him through. It worked for Favre, maybe it'll work for him. But we also know how important he claims the locker room to be, the camaraderie and relationships. That's been years in the making for him in the sprawling metropolis of GB. You don't just acquire that by way of transplant.

2. What I’m thinking about the trade of Rodgers to the Jets...I seem to have started a social media debate about who has the preponderance of control in the ongoing Rodgers trade negotiations between the Packers and Jets. There are many differing opinions but here is my definition of preponderance of control: It belongs to the party in the negotiation that is most satisfied with the status quo. In this case, that is the Packers. They have their starting quarterback (Love), they have no cap or cash issues with Rodgers anytime soon, and Rodgers is not in the building. As to those who suggest Rodgers may show up to work out there and force their hand? Please. As to the Jets, they have stoked the fires in their fan base, who are frothing at the mouth for Rodgers. They have signed Rodgers’ designated receiver, Allan Lazard. They have no alternative at quarterback, and the last thing they want to do is go back to Zach Wilson. They need to make this trade more than the Packers do, at least in the short term. The second half of the trade compensation here is easy:The Packers should get a 2024 Draft pick that stair-steps rounds (from, say, 4th to 3rd to 2nd to even 1st) depending on Rodgers' performance in 2023. The hard part is what the Jets give up in 2023.Listen, I am not saying this goes for a month or that the Packers extract multiple first-round picks; but I am sayingthe Packers are clearly not taking what the Jets are offering now, and they will get more than that at some point.

Reminds me when I sold my motorcycle years ago.  Asking price was $1k.  First buyer came along, he was practically drooling (younger guy).  I knew he was the buyer.  He asked what I'd take; I said $1k.  He said "it needs new tires".  I said "yes, it does, that's why I'm only asking $1k instead of more".  He said it was too much & I said I don't need to sell.  He left & was back with a grand in cash about an hour later.

Hold out for your deal Gute!

Were you first-chair in this negotiation

Not so sure about this statement. He stressed how the people make an organization. We'll see how he likes the people of NYC compared to WI.

I only was in NYC once back in 1998, it was awesome.  For a guy with the money Rodgers has, it probably would be a pretty cool place to be.

That said, if things don’t go the way he thinks it will, the fans might get on him and that would definitely take away some of the fun out of being there.
